Have I made a bad choice in glasses?

Ordered new glasses this week, after not wearing any for about 10 years.

A friend helped me pick, and it was all a bit impulsive and last minute while we were out shopping. I needed opinions and thought I'd go for it while we were passing.

Now I'm worried I've been too impulsive.

I have attached the two pairs I've ordered.

Are these okay? I know it would be better to see them on, but I don't have them yet.

I'm worried that they look too "trying hard to be cool", and that I should have gone for something more plain/neutral.

What is your face shape would you say?
Do you have a warm or cool complexion?
What is your hair colour, length and style?

They're lovely. Not too cool or try hard at all. If you and your friend both thought they looked good on you then I'm sure you've selected well.

They're really nice but can't comment if they're ok as glasses vary so much once they're on.

It sounds stupid, but I'm not sure what shape my face is. I think it's quite round? I have long blond hair and I'm fair.

They will look fab on you! I have friends with glasses like these and they look really cool. My 21yr old daughter has some CK ones (plain black) in this style that look amazing.

I don't think either are "too try hard". I was expecting huge with thick frames.

I've worn glasses since I was 21 (now50) I like both of those - I hope my age doesn't put you off. Black frames do nothing for me I usually go for brow/ tortoiseshell but I bought a pair of purple with lilac arms this week bloody love them

@mustlovegin that picture is a few years old now and my hair was "done". Needs a right good chop now, but thank you.

When I think of those I know who wear glasses, they are mostly black frames, so I felt maybe that was the best bet. But then I was a bit like a kid in a sweet shop with all the different colours!

Your face looks oval to me which IIRC is said to suit most styles. I'm sure they'll look lovely on you

I went to Specsavers too and found it very difficult. You have to hand all the specs back to the assistant who then takes them away for cleaning. You feel like you're in a shoe shop and don't like giving them too much work! Yours look good though!

Your face is a lovely oval which means you can pull off almost any shape.
Out of the two you've chosen, the top ones are the best for you in terms of colour.
The green may be a little too cool/dark for you complexion wise but I reckon you'll pull it off.
Lovely frames you've chosen.

I wear glasses like the top pair and I'm certainly not trying to be cool I just am cool. They're nice but not try hard IMO.

If you were trying to be cool you'd have gone for a mahoosive pair, or once that look like they were prescribed to a child in 1976.

They look good OP, and black ones would be far too dark on you! Brown/tortoiseshell is a neutral in glasses as far as I’m concerned

Yes, I tried on a pinky pair which just disappeared into my face.

I agree tortoiseshell is quite neutral, but the blue flecks are brighter than the picture, so that's what had me swithering, but also what I liked about them.

The full blue ones can just be spares if I can't get used to them.

OP I tried on both those pairs! I still might order the first pair but I was hugely put off by having a member of staff following me around with a tray and asking me what I thought every 2 mins. I'm hoping some of the restrictions have been eased in Specsavers now. Anyway, good choice imo!

@AertexShirt I'm afraid not! The assistant was lovely, but yes, she was there with tray. My friend had to stay outside, but then they let her in to stand at the door as she couldn't see me properly to give opinions.

I tried on about 10 pairs, and I was in and out the shop in under 30 mins. Through not fault of the assistant, I was worried about giving them too much cleaning to do!

I have the top pair. I love them. I have a roundish face and fair skin. I think they look good.
