Have I made a bad choice in glasses?

Ordered new glasses this week, after not wearing any for about 10 years.

A friend helped me pick, and it was all a bit impulsive and last minute while we were out shopping. I needed opinions and thought I'd go for it while we were passing.

Now I'm worried I've been too impulsive.

I have attached the two pairs I've ordered.

Are these okay? I know it would be better to see them on, but I don't have them yet.

I'm worried that they look too "trying hard to be cool", and that I should have gone for something more plain/neutral.

Thanks.

I think both pairs will suit you well although personally I prefer the top pair

Those of you who wear glasses, how many pairs do you own?

Once I get used to wearing them again, I can see myself wanting different colours and styles quite often.

I always have 2 pairs + prescription sunglasses. My last three pairs were £550 including lenses. I usually go for one pair bolder than the other and wear them depending on my mood as much as matching what Im wearing. People who don't wear glasses balk at the cost but I wear them all day, every day, I feel like I will definitely have had my monies worth by the time I'm due to get them changed, probably about 2 years but if we ever get to go and try glasses on freely I might treat myself to a new pair before then

Yes, I was a bit stupid and got two normal pairs. I should have got sunglasses for driving.

For now I'll need to wear my contact lenses and normal sunglasses when driving. I'm just finding lenses aren't right for all day wear anymore.

The blue pair were a bit of silly buy as I'm not sure that they will go with much of my clothing. Will just need to buy some new clothes Grin

They are FAR from a 'trying hard to be cool' IMO!!! Quite the opposite of cool. I'm personally not keen on tortoise shell which screams plastic and cheap, even though they aren't cheap at all. If they suit your facial shape and you like them, that is all that matters though.

I love the second pair! Need new glasses so thanks for sharing!

CambsAlways · 01/08/2021 22:47

I tend to wear big tortoiseshell round ones or purple I’m dark haired, yours will look great as you are fair nice choice

MadisonAvenue · 01/08/2021 23:21

I love both pairs! I’m very tempted to get myself a pair of the tortoiseshell ones, I got two new pairs last week from Specsavers and was given a 50% off voucher for another pair.

I chose black Converse frames and some prescription sunglasses. I felt a bit rushed as the assistant approached me a few times while choosing to see if I’d decided. When I looked at the Converse online afterwards I noticed that there was a white stripe running through the top of the arms. I was sure I hadn’t noticed it yet it looked quite obvious in the online photo. It’s barely noticeable though and I really like the frames.

I love both of those OP. I hate choosing glasses so much because you feel like a right Wally standing there admiring yourself in the shop. I wear my glasses all the time and they make me feel so frumpy (a personal thing, no issues with glasses wearers generally!) so when I go for my eye test this week I think I’ll choose a cheap pair or two in Specsavers then order some of the try at home frames for something a bit snazzier that I can decide on in my own house.

I’m the same as you and don’t want anything too try hard but on the other hand I do feel like my glasses just make me so dowdy looking so maybe I should get something more interesting. I quite like the metal frames that seem popular atm and they might be lighter than my current plastic ones that I’m constantly pushing up my nose!

My friend has the second pair and they're really nice.

I see you suffer from the same problem as I do when putting on a face mask !
