Shawl/pashmina for this dress?

Hi, I’m wearing this dress to a wedding. What type of pashmina would you wear with it please? Was thinking perhaps cream. Any also worried that I won’t be warm enough given the current weather situation!

Thank you.

I'm not a fan of pashminas tbh. Maybe a jacket of some sort instead?

waltzingparrot · 30/07/2021 16:40

The reviews are good. I've bought the cheap £10 'pashminas' before. They won't cut it. The reviews for these ones seem good.

I have something similar to this but I’m not convinced it goes with this dress

I find pashminas a bit of a faff - would a cropped jacket work?

What colour are your shoes?

MissingEveryoneSoMuch · 30/07/2021 18:46

Navy strappy heels but the dress is floor length and they can’t be seen easily.

I'd go for a bolero jacket or cardigan with that dress.

MissingEveryoneSoMuch · 30/07/2021 18:53

Thanks! What colour would you go for? I’m tempted by cream as all my accessories are navy so far.

Not convinced by cream. How about pale grey or a silvery grey?

Thanks! Let me have a look. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to reply BTW, I managed with choosing the dress and I'm a bit shit after that!!

I've been browsing but there's not much out there except Phase Eight type stuff, which I don't really like.

Are you a bridesmaid? It's very bridesmaidy.
I don't think a jacket / cardigan would ever look nice with this dress to be honest, unless it's a faux fur jacket and a winter wedding, the cropped ones that have been posted are frumpy and old fashioned. I think if you need something go as simple possible as to not overshadow the detailing on the dress.

Ah, ok. No, I’m not a bridesmaid.

A lightweight blazer will look lovely without being heavy.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/07/2021 20:44

I think the little cardigan things you posted are inoffensive, but I don't love them. And it could definitely veer into bridesmaid territory paired with one of them.

However, I think a white/cream blazer would look very odd.

How formal is the wedding? Could you get away with a dusty pink faux suede biker/cropped jacket?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/07/2021 20:47

This sort of thing? Assuming you'd take it off as soon as you were at the reception anyway.

It’s black tie so pretty formal

This is by far the best solution offered so far IMHO.

I agree OP you should opt for a jacket. Cardigan and blazers would not look good with this dress and are very frumpy looking. This dress is designed to be worn by itself.

If you're inside would you need something to keep you warm? Which part of the wedding would you need a cover for? I would opt for a coat if it's for moving between venues and then remove when inside the venue which is what people do for black tie events.

NeverTrustaRabbit · 30/07/2021 21:01

Agree with a PP the dress is "bridesmaidy"
Maybe run it past the bride/chief bridesmaid to be on the safe side. If you do wear it, please don't pair it with a blazer....it will look awful. You need a wrap/shawl in a contrasting colour to lift the blue.

As an aside.....what time if day is the wedding? Floor length gowns are a no-no (etiquette wise) for a morning/early afternoon wedding abs you'd be much better in a very very formal cocktail dress (just below knee length, not too much cleavage on show) dressed up with diamonds and minimal other accessories.
