And do you wear knickers underneath or just the shorts??

Yes! I’ve had a few but my favourite are the snag tights ones as they’re the lightest that I’ve tried so you don’t overheat. I always wear pants underneath

Waveafterwaveslowlydrifting · 28/07/2021 17:35

Thanks. I need to invest!

Yes they work but for me there's a balance between length that stays down and length that shows on most dresses although that probably depends on the shape of your thighs.

I wear pants under because of seam placement - and material for my non-cotton ones (from Lidl of all places).

Bit of a warmth penalty but worth it to prevent bleeding sores for me.

RifRafia · 28/07/2021 17:36

Agreed, the Snag ones are brilliant

Measureformeasure · 28/07/2021 17:36

Another vote for Snag ones. Brought cheap cycling shorts a few years back and they did nothing to help. Snag ones work though.

YouHaveNoAuthorityHereJackie · 28/07/2021 17:37

Mitchum roll on on your thighs is a game changer. Not a single raw chafe since I’ve been using this, and summer used to be agony. I’m not even particularly porky either, my thighs still rubbed at a size 8 (those were the days)

Marshmon · 28/07/2021 17:37

M&S anti chafing shorts are good too

Buggeringweather · 28/07/2021 17:38

Snag tights are the best ones I’ve bought. Will now wear dresses and skirts where for years I avoided them

MakeCrisps · 28/07/2021 17:39

I wear m&s ones as knickers and yes, completely life changing. I never wore dresses in summer before this discovery.

Snag shorts are a game-changer. I wear skirts and dresses without fear now.

Yes to this. I wear the snag ones and have a couple of bright coloured pairs which will show under my shorter dresses. I don't mind that at all but on the other hand I did hear MIL refer to "those strange pants that Freezer wears" on a call to DH the other day so I might rethink.
ChubbyBroccoli · 28/07/2021 17:50

I don't like the nylon-y fabric of chub rub shorts so I prefer to cut old leggings to cycling short length.

elQuintoConyo · 28/07/2021 17:54

None. I use liquid talc and it's fantastic! I'm in Spain, I wear a lot of skirts and dresses and any extra layers - shorts etc - would be horrendous.

I'm a large sweaty mess and liquid talc is excellent. Put on after my shower in the morning and I can go all day and party all night without reapplying.

AnUnlikelyCombination · 28/07/2021 17:54

@ChubbyBroccoli If you don’t like the nylon sort (I don’t either), Sainsbury’s do some cotton ones that are comfy and stay put.

FindMeInTheSunshine · 28/07/2021 18:01

I've just bought some wirarpa ones (described by them as boy shorts, or safety shorts) because they were cotton I've found them really good, and, partly because I don't need to wear knickers under them, they seem much cooler than the other ones I've tried.

gogohm · 28/07/2021 18:05

I wear Sainsbury's cycling shorts (£10) work perfectly. Yes to knickers

hennybeans · 28/07/2021 18:05

I bought some from The Big Bloomer company (terrible name!) about five years ago. They are truly wonderful: light, stay put, don't roll up or down or pinch. I think they're even available on Amazon now too. Mine are in their fifth summer and no signs of holes or wear and tear. They are absolutely revolutionary.

Direwolfwrangler · 28/07/2021 18:11

I’m pregnant and the Snag shorts have been a game-changer this summer. Highly recommend!

SweetPetrichor · 28/07/2021 18:32

I use Snag ones. They’re light weight and sat in place well.

EastWestWhosBest · 28/07/2021 18:35

Can I recommend Body Glide for chub rub.

Not sticky or smelly and completely works every time. I used to get it so bad that I would bleed. It’s not a problem now.

hellywelly3 · 28/07/2021 18:35

Got some snag ones, completely changed my summer!

bookish83 · 28/07/2021 18:37

Yes i agree. I went for the 16-18 (i'm more 14-16) and they stay in place well. Can see an outline when i sit down but that is because of my thigh. Not the shorts!
AnnieSnap · 28/07/2021 18:39

I have Snag ones and find them great. Interesting to read from @FindMeInTheSunshine here that Wirapa do them 👍 Their everyday type knickers are the best I’ve ever found. They are so comfortable and seem to look and feel like new forever! Given that, I must try their ‘safety shorts’ (what a name 🤣😂).
