And do you wear knickers underneath or just the shorts??

Things like talc and deodorant probably work if you’re thin and have only a small amount of skin rubbing together. It has never ever worked on my legs but the shorts are a saviour.

I’ve never tried the snag ones but I personally like the cotton sloggi ones as they have an inbuilt gusset so you don’t need to wear pants and it’s one less layer! Or, when my leggings get holes in chop them off and use them as shorts.

Hadenoughofthisbullshit · 28/07/2021 18:48

Yeah I was just about to say the sloggi long length pants are better than the snag tights in my opinion as the snag ones are just like tights which can be annoying when it’s very hot and the sloggi pants are cotton. They are more expensive, but are good in winter when it’s cold too. Not dead sexy though, I’ll admit.

stodgystollen · 28/07/2021 18:48

I have Intimissi Italian cotton ones which are lovely and shit H&M synthetics which cause nearly as much chafing just in different places. I'm not particularly big, but am thunder-thighed and mince when I walk.

ChurchlightJane · 28/07/2021 18:51

I have a few pairs of Snag but I find they bobble quite badly which causes discomfort of its own and soon afterwards, a hole. Great when new but just don't last for me.

Cupcakegirl13 · 28/07/2021 19:01

Another snag bite here have totally changed my summer wardrobe I wear dresses all the time now

SpiceRat · 28/07/2021 19:02

They do try to be with the little lace frill though Grin

WeeM · 28/07/2021 19:05

I’ve often looked at the snag ones but never purchased, the fact they are made of tights material has always put me off. But maybe I should give them a whirl.

DelphiniumBlue · 28/07/2021 19:13

I've got Snag, BigBloomers, Sloggi and cut off leggings. I don't wear pants underneath mostly.
BigBloomers are shorter than Snag, so that might be a thing if you wear shorter dresses. Sloggi are cotton, so thats good, but I feel them on my thighs, although my thighs are not chunky - if yours are, you'd need to size up or opt for one of the other brands.
If you cut off leggings, don't go too short because they'll roll up uncomfortably. TBH, I think cut off leggings are probably best because they are cotton, soft and stretchy. But I do like all the others, and wear them all day no problem.

PattyPan · 28/07/2021 19:15

I have two pairs of the M&S cooling shorts because I love them so much. I wear knickers underneath.

Lulu1919 · 28/07/2021 19:21

Mine are cotton ...well cotton feel ...really comfy and come up above my waist....got the, on Amazon ....nude colour

elQuintoConyo · 28/07/2021 19:33

SpiceRat not at all, I'm fat as fuck and can bleed with chub rub. But the thought of wearing an extra layer of clothes - here or in the UK - males me sweat just thinking about it.

We were out hiking last week in 39° heat (less in the shadey forest) and I took extra with me in a little bottle but needn't have bothered. And humidity is high.

randomsabreuse · 28/07/2021 19:44

Talc, bodyglide doesn't work for me. I have size 12/14 thighs and narrow hips and the stuff wears off too quickly for me. Even if it's not hot... I also destroy jeans and leggings super quickly!

Soontobe60 · 28/07/2021 19:55

@ChubbyBroccoli

I don't like the nylon-y fabric of chub rub shorts so I prefer to cut old leggings to cycling short length.
Have a go with the M+S ones; they’re not nylony to all, very soft stretchy cotton. I love them! I wear them under my loose jumpsuits and wide legged culottes plus I wear them with a strapped vest to sleep in when it’s really hot, because for some weird reason I also get sore thighs when I’m asleep!
PattyPan · 28/07/2021 20:03

Me too, I actually recently bought a backup pair of my favourite trousers from eBay as they’ve got really bobbly 😭

I’m a 22 / 24 with massive thighs and never had any luck with any of the products like that. It just sloughs off after an hour or so. I am canny sweaty like so maybe it’s that. I don’t find shorts any hotter tbh and they help with the sweat. Especially the sloggi ones they’re cotton, thin and breathable. I suppose what works for one won’t for another, no harm in trying the shorts OP as they’re a total game changer for me. I’ve never been able to wear maxi / midi dresses/skirts until I started wearing them.
TeacupDrama · 28/07/2021 20:06

snag tights they are cool too

headintheproverbial · 28/07/2021 20:10

Yes!!! They are amazing.

You should. Total game changer. I wore them in the Middle East and didn’t feel sweaty or anything in them at all. I’m wearing dresses non stop at the minute thanks to them.
bonzo77 · 28/07/2021 20:18

Yes. Absolute game changer. I’m not that big, but I’d have to get emaciated to get a thigh gap. Sloggi “slip shorts” have revolutionised summer for me. I wear them with knickers underneath. Seam free and with just a tiny tiny amount of support / control. I love them.

See I’m a 16 on a good day but my thighs could kill a man. Body glide works a treat for me.
randomsabreuse · 28/07/2021 20:30

I'm not convinced it's not my skin as much as the size of my thighs. Got stretch marks as a teen and I see girls with thighs like mine happily walking around in short shorts which I'd be shredded to the point of unable to move/walking with my legs a metre apart in.

Not judging just jealous because it's not an appearance thing but actual agony/blood if I misjudge shorts length/amount of walking for an outfit!

nordica · 28/07/2021 20:57

I love the Snag ones too! I actually feel cooler and better in general when it's hot and I'm wearing either the shorts or footless tights. It's bare skin touching bare skin that feels hot.

I bought the Snag ones in a range of colours early last summer and have worn them lots and they've lasted really well. Mine come to about mid-thigh on me so they're not visible under dresses and skirts.

Bananaman123 · 28/07/2021 21:10

Yes! My favourite ones are snag, better tights and jockey. Perfect for this hot weather

Twistiesandshout · 28/07/2021 21:11

I've tried so many types but the H&M ones are by far the best I've found.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 28/07/2021 21:27

I wear the M&S anti chafing ones as knickers - absolute game changer! I'd completely stopped wearing dresses as I was so uncomfortable. Now I can happily wear dresses again.
