How much lip filler for a first-timer?

KhalliWhalli · 27/07/2021 06:31

I am booked tomorrow for lip filler as my lips have got very thin as I’ve got older. May I ask those of you who have had it, how much you would recommend? The options are 0.5 ml and 1 ml.

Thanks.

0.5 for me at 50 years old. Not too obvious and if you have 1ml for me it looks 'too much'.

KhalliWhalli · 27/07/2021 07:03

@iseedeadpeoplehelp thanks. That’s helpful.

I only ever get .5 and it is very natural

@NoCureForLove and @SpeckledyHen Why bother posting if you have no interest in the subject? Have you got nothing better to do?

You asked a ?
That is my answer.

LadyJJ · 27/07/2021 09:21

I had 1ml first time. I planned to have 0.5 but she did 1ml to restore the border.
Mine are not big at all.
A lot of people I know just have 0.5 though.
Probably depends what your lips are like now and what you want to achieve
The person doing them will help.

KhalliWhalli · 27/07/2021 09:23

@NoCureForLove The options were 0.5 ml or 1 ml. You just think you’re being clever. You’re not.

Totally depends on how big your lips are to start with, where the filler is being placed, if you're having both top and bottom lips done.

I had 1ml (cannula, not needle) - this is 3 weeks after.

.5 is very little indeed and won't be noticeable once the swelling goes down

Sorry, I must have missed the part of your op that stated 'reply only if you think lip fillers great'
This is a forum that invites all to respond.
You do realise that?

I think they look comical at best, awful at worst, so my suggestion would be zero filler.

DrDresaid · 27/07/2021 09:30

0.5 to start with.
You can always have another .5 a few weeks later if you really want them bigger or the full 1ml the next time you have them done but always .5 to start with.

HeyMicky · 27/07/2021 09:31

And straight after

1ml but in 2 sessions 2 weeks apart so 0.5 then another 0.5.

0.5 will be very very subtle.

monstermunch1 · 27/07/2021 09:34

0.5 will not notice. Any more will notice but you may not like it. To make much difference to the lips you may end up with the fake look. and you can't go back easily.

Weird that so many posters choose to click a thread with a subject that they have zero experience of just so they can give their unwanted opinions in policing other women's choices about their own bodies! Confused

I'd agree with two lots of 0.5mls a couple of weeks apart OP

whiteonesugar · 27/07/2021 10:28

I had .5 ml the first time and 1ml the second. .5 wasnt enough and 1ml felt like too much! I would always go smaller first, you can always add more but its harder to take away unless you dissolve the lot.

I like my lips now but the first month after having 1ml I was really conscious of them.

charliebear78 · 27/07/2021 11:19

I go tomorrow for my first..I am having half.
I barely have a top lip and it is something I have hated for years..I have never worn lip stick for this reason.
I am having it injected underneath my lip from the bottom if you know what I mean.
Excited but scared.
Been told to apply numbing cream.
I have had my eyebrows microbladed without any numbing cream which was uncomfortable.
Is the level of discomfort the same or worse?

ArabeI · 27/07/2021 11:34

I have no personal experience of lip fillers, but would start with 0.5 to see what that looks like first, and as a starting point. I do know of people who have had well done, subtle changes with minimal amount of filler.

I don't see myself being tempted by lip fillers for some years to come, but I'd like to ask, in case anyone on the threads knows (and might be useful for the OP to know), if fillers alter, or rather obscure, the shape of the cupid's bow? Sometimes the top lip has appeared 'stretched' outwards, on some people I've seen with lip fillers.

Who says I'm not interested? I'm extremely interested in a procedure that makes a women's face look so odd and keen to identify why on earth someone would do it to themselves. I'm afraid the unnatural looking photos shared on here haven't helped my feelings about the procedure! And please don't try and dress it up as being about a 'women's choice' Look in the other direction. The porn industry, pressures social media, influencers etc might be a good starting point.
NoCureForLove · 27/07/2021 11:52

Ah. Women with different opinions. Always annoying...

KhalliWhalli · 27/07/2021 12:08

@HeyMicky Thanks so much for posting the photos. Your lips look great! I am flying on Sunday so won’t be able to do it in 2 appointments, so I will just go for the 1 ml.

Janaih · 27/07/2021 12:22

@charliebear78 it's way less painful than microblading! It's like being stung by a wasp but only hurts for half a second each injection (about 8 I think?)

For anyone about to have fillers, arnica tablets taken for a few days before and after, benadryl fast allergy relief tablets taken after and ice wrapped in sandwich bag and tea towel are useful.
