Crazy length of flared jeans (pic)

I'm 5'7 and I don't have a pair of heels high enough to pickup this slack! 🤦‍♀️

The average adult woman in the UK is 5'3.

Such a shame. They are beautiful. Butter soft. So flattering at the top (honest, second pic is rubbish). But beyond ridiculous!

Sorry but your teeny toes peeping out made me laugh 😅.
Maybe try someone who does alterations. I could alter straight legged jeans but not so sure about a flared leg.

Classica · 24/07/2021 16:45

It's like the scene from Big where Josh turns back into an 11 year old boy.

What brand are the jeans?

And I don't think the pic shows just how much excess fabric there is.

Jeans would be eye watering expensive (if I was keeping them!) so don't fancy attempting getting anyone to alter them.

Might lend them to my v short sister in law for an extra laugh!

It would cost under a tenner to get them shortened. Pin them up and see what the flare looks like with the bottom chopped off.

grasstreeleaf · 24/07/2021 16:49

You need something like these Grin:

I don't buy any jeans but flares. Prefer them with my big fat feet Grin at 5'5 i often buy petite ones. Regular length my arse.

Bythemillpond · 24/07/2021 17:09

I’m just above average height and in the obese category

Apart from the length of everything the other thing I don’t get is how trousers in the 18/20 range have such low crotches

One pair of trousers I have the crotch is some where just above my knees.

If I pull them up it looks like I am wearing longish shorts

BrassicaBabe · 24/07/2021 19:46

Quite desperate to keep them. This is with wedges on. Still too long aren't they.😩Wonder if I should get them shortened 🤔

Hooves spring to mind!Grin

If you've dress making pins see if they would turn up ok.Smile

grasstreeleaf · 24/07/2021 19:48

Or just cut the bottom off leaving a raw hem.Smile

dancealittleclosertome · 24/07/2021 19:49

I too am 5' 7" and recently returned Flared jeans from both Mango and Zara because they were similarly ridiculously long. Such a shame.

Christmasbird · 24/07/2021 19:51

Keep them, they're lovely!!
If you're adamant that they're too long you could always get them hemmed.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 24/07/2021 19:53

I always find designer jeans way too long. I once got a pair of MiH Marrakesh flares shortened but they were never quite the same. I guess you need the really long legs to make them look their best 😭
Anyway if they don’t look right turned up I would return them and look for a high street pair. Sorry!

SergeiL · 24/07/2021 19:59

They are a really nice blue and they look fabulous on you, apart from the length. Get them shortened I say.

goose1964 · 24/07/2021 23:50

Another 5' 7" here, I recently bought a pair of black trousers from M&Co I measured them against myself in the shop and they looked long enough. At home I noticed they were marked petite. I tried them on though and they were long enough. I'm also leggy which made this really weird. I feel so sorry for shorter people who buy clothes expecting them to fit and then find that those short trousers have a 32/33 length.

JungleBeats · 25/07/2021 13:11

They look great on you if I don't look down Grin

The average hight of a women in the UK is just under 5 5"

AuntieMarys · 25/07/2021 13:16

I'm 6 feet tall. 😀 where are they from? What's the inside leg?

gogohm · 25/07/2021 13:22

My gripe too. In 5'6 but maxi dresses are 6 inches too long

Yoyooo · 25/07/2021 13:23

Contact your local Reiss store they will sort out a tailor for you

Dozer · 25/07/2021 13:26

£20 where I live for jeans shortening, which is more than I’d be prepared to pay!

fallfallfall · 25/07/2021 13:27

That’s how jeans were worn in the 70’s.

NotMeNoNo · 25/07/2021 13:29

Ah the lost skill of alterations.

TheBitterBoy · 25/07/2021 13:32

Making notes for myself (5'10 Grin)

Bythemillpond · 25/07/2021 13:34

I think the fashion industry would do better if they actually made clothes to fit the average person and not the models on the cat walk.

Fwiw dd has 36” inside leg and is quite slim. She finds trousers come up to somewhere lower mid calf. I am quite short 5ft 4” with more like a 28-30” inside leg
If she tries on a pair of size 8s and I try on a pair of size 18s of the same design trousers her trousers fit her but are really short
If I try my size trousers on the waist sort of fits (might be a bit big) they fit around the bum area apart from they expect my bum to be somewhere just north of my knee caps and the leg length is ok
But the crotch hangs so low I can’t really walk in them.
If I pull them up to where my crotch really is they end up short in the leg and the waist band is over my nipples.

Dd has had a job as a sizing model for a now defunct brand and been told although she is the right measurements she isn’t the right shape they were looking for.
