...what are your daily routines?

I would like to make more of an effort to be a bit more polished and glamorous, but I've no idea how to get into the routine of it. Can anyone share their own routines for inspiration please?

Oh and feet. Look after your feet and wear comfortable shoes when you are young. You will then be able to wear nice sandals when you are old without your feet letting you down.

@HelloMissus

Cut and highlights every eight weeks. Wash and condition hair with specialist shampoo every day. Often then wear in messy bun. Or messy two buns. Or heated rollers and let waves fall.

Tons of body lotion (has to smell fabulous).

Pro pedi and lashings of foot cream in between.

Wax and tint eyebrows. Every day use Benefit products on them. Mascara. Cheek tint.

Crest white stripes from the US.

Clothes comfy and fit well. I’m a size 14 and don’t ever do too small.

And this is a biggie. I’m 53 and still considered sexy. That’s because I know I am. And I don’t try to pretend I’m not. I’m not afraid of drawing attention to myself if you see what I mean.

I love this. So few women think like this. I feel the complete opposite and prefer to hide away @HelloMissus how did you come to be like this, with clearly high self esteem? Or were you raised like this? Any pointers?

Ps if it comes from your upbringing, what were your parents like?

Some days I feel super glam, but I’m not sure how others would perceive me! In regards to my routine:
In the gym for 6am 4x a week
Good skin care regime
AM: cleanse, tone, hyalournic acid serum, moisturise, SPF
PM: double cleanse, tone, retinol, moisturise
I wash my hair about twice a week, but curl it maybe about 3/4 times a week depending on how well it holds the style
Full works make up most days: foundation, contor, baking, blusher, eyebrow pencil, lip liner and lipstick
Waxing once a month
Eyelashes extensions every 3 weeks
Nails and toes gels every 3 weeks
In the summer months I fake tan once a week as I am so pale you can see my veins - nice! I would probs do this in winter too but cba!
I’ve had some filler and am currently considering Botox as I’m starting to get fine line between my eyebrows - probs from all the facial expressions I make at my other half
I have balayage probs about every 4 months and sometimes allow my hairdresser to trim a small amount of my ends.
I think sometimes my only downfall is my clothes. I feel like I don’t know what suits me anymore. I want someone to dress me. Sometimes I can put on an outfit and I think “yes I am fire” and the. Other times I just don’t think I look any good. I’m a size 8-10 so I know I’m not big but I’m only 5ft 2 so sometimes clothes are just too long for my limbs and the petite section don’t always have what I’m looking for!

I don’t have children yet, but quite recently my other half has been telling me he is ready to be a dad and while I want to be a Mummy too, I’m so worried that I’ll no longer have the time for myself to do the things that make me feel good. I’m so worried I’m going to constantly looked haggard HmmConfused

A skincare regime in place for am and pm.
Eyebrows threaded twice a month
Full body waxing every 6/7 weeks
Pedicure and manicure once a month
Shower every day but wash hair 3 times a week.
Balayage done once a year with toner in between.
Light makeup on some days, full face on others.
I don't wear designer clothes but still try to dress stylish and dress to what will look nice on my shape.
I love walking.

I recently bought new prescription glasses and sunglasses in lovely colours with a bit of metal hardware on the sides. The optician said they looked glamorous! I chose carefully, taking into account my face shape, size and colouring. As I wear glasses or prescription sunglasses every day, this will be one less thing to think about in the search for glam. Never leave the house without mascara on so lash extensions are a game changer!

I think previous posts are right about some people being in denial about their size & squeezing into smaller clothes looks dreadful on a man or woman.

Tralene · 23/08/2022 09:23

Always wear make-up, even if staying in the house all day. It makes me feel like me. Ditto styling hair.
Dress for shape and colouring - for me this means wearing oranges and bright pinks in the summer - you have to have the belief you look good in colour, rather than hiding away in black. Some people look great in black. I look terrible.
No baggy clothes - again because it suits me to wear fitted styles and these do lend themselves more easily to looking glam that baggier styles (again possible to be glam in joggers but I couldn't).

My mum always looks polished - I think some of it is natural as she would often say she feels too smart even when trying to be casual.

She certainly doesn’t have an extra dive regime but I guess she did find a couple of products that suit and sticks to them. Bothers to spend the time to do cleansing etc properly and put night cream on with enough time to sink in. She has also always spent the time ironing clothes, packing them away properly, mending and altering. Naturally has a core wardrobe and look. A lot of this came from having to be thrifty plus her natural personality! She has also never worked and has had a much more stress free life I guess?

Whereas I seem unable to give even a quick nighttime routine the time, often don’t iron and do get drawn to random clothing choices from time to time!
