Best deodorant for dryness & smell?

TomAllenWife · 20/07/2021 23:29

So last week I bought a Sure Max Strength stick, it's shit, I'm not dry and I smell worse than I would with normal deodorant

Usually use a sanex roll on or sure invisible spray

Anyone got any great suggestions please?

I can't get on with roll- ons it's like spreading jam under my arm pits, it goes all sticky and won't dry, are the sticks and creams the same? would love to not have to use sprays

No the stick creams are nothing like the wet ball roll ons or the gel ones. After reading on here I purchased the Mitchum stick I'm totally dry today. Very impressed I think I'll be ditching sprays! I'm very sweaty too usually.

Deathraystare · 07/07/2022 17:13

I don't seem to have a problem (touches wood) but I do like the Mitchum baby fresh one (roll on or spray) but they did one called shower fresh which did not smell very nice at all. I also keep a roll on of Sure for men in my work drawer.

iknowthismuchis · 07/07/2022 17:18

The natural deodorant is amazing

Anystarinthesky · 07/07/2022 17:26

I hope the Mitchum deoderant works for you.

I use the unscented roll on Mitchum, it's the best I've ever used.

FelicityFlops · 07/07/2022 17:53

Clinique unscented roll-on. Been using it for around 40 years. Keeps me dry and smell-free yet also allows me to wear my choice of scent. It is expensive, though.

Men's Mitchum ..... !

knittingaddict · 07/07/2022 18:47

I don’t suppose any can be used in the face. I’m only half joking as I’m so sweaty!

You could one if those volcanic rollers which soak up oil, might be good for sweat too?

I use Vichy 7 day deodorant cream, or Odaban. The Vichy is expensive but really works, the Odaban is also really good but you need to apply it very sparingly to dry skin with a cotton wool ball, and the effect can be felt over several nights use. When I use these at night, I shower in the morning and use a deodorant rather than an antiperspirant, the crystal deodorant Pitrok is good and stops any smells. I tried Mitchum but it was too sticky and didn't keep me completely dry.

Has anyone tried wild deodorant? Seen it been advertised a fair few times on Instagram.

I really want to try this, if only for the gorgeous case!

TheGriffle · 08/07/2022 16:18

I have finally found a combination that finally works for me currently: Triple Dry unfragranced spray then Bionsen spray deodorant on top.

Mostly limits the sweating and I don’t stink with Bionsen like I do most other fragrance deos or antiperspirants. If I’m just staying at home then I will just use Bionsen but it’s a deodorant rather than an antiperspirant.

Agreed. I got a natural salt deodorant from H & B expecting it to be a bit rubbish but it was excellent.

That sounds like an interesting combination, might try that if my usual combo starts to fail.

Akt London The Onsen is great!!

LaQuern · 08/07/2022 20:56

Fit Pit (in the little glass jar) is really good.

Wasn't expecting much as it's just a deodorant but it works a treat

ChickenSandwichandCupofTea · 08/07/2022 21:01

Mitchum powder fresh scent stick for me. I used to use Dove but on a whim bought Mitchum for hospital when having my baby and I’ve stuck with it as it dries quickly and lasts ages.

Lulu1919 · 08/07/2022 21:01

I use Mitchum ..the stick one

happyharpy78 · 10/07/2022 19:50

@User12340987they were doing a trial set of three just for postage cost £2.99 a week or so ago.

Rina66 · 11/07/2022 07:41

I use the Sure 48 hour stick and gave done for years (like soap not the cream) - can't get it anywhere at the moment though 🙄

Rina66 · 11/07/2022 07:42

This one....anyone else struggling to find it?

Best deodorant for dryness & smell?
SickSadWorId · 11/07/2022 09:03

I use Odaban overnight one a week in summer.

It is amazing stuff. I recommend it to anyone with excessive sweating, hyperhidrosis or peri-menopausal.

parenthood1989 · 11/07/2022 09:05

I use Mitchum stick, the yellow or pink ones. They have other kinds that are slightly more expensive and I tried one once but still got sweaty so I stick to the cheaper ones now.

GiggidyGiggidy2022 · 11/07/2022 10:07

I'm not original from the U.K. so I was amazed at how few stick deodorants and antiperspirants there were here. Most are roll on (which always feel wet and slimy to me and never seem to dry) or aerosols which stink of fumes and I feel like the cans are incredibly wasteful for some reason (don't ask me the rational on this as I know there's waste with all the others). Mitchum stick was the only thing that worked for me from the range of regular drug store antiperspirants.

I've recently become more conscious of chemicals that were putting in and on our bodies and have switched to a L'Occitane cream deodorant that smells incredible. I have used it for a few months now and have not smelled at all and it does keep me fairly dry. I haven't used my Mitchum stick for months.

I guess there are a couple things to note here though:

Antiperspirants have aluminium in them and other chemicals which are designed to stop you from perspiring. Whereas deodorants just stop the smell.

I figured we sweat out toxins for a reason. And we need to sweat. There have been some studies linked to show that antiperspirants may cause cancer, so I've tried to steer clear of these where I can. Since moving away from my Mitchum stick antiperspirant and to the more natural deodorant from L'Occitane I've not had any issues with smell at all. That being said, I think if you really smell quite pungent then you should probably be looking to your diet as well to see if there are some days that you smell more based on what you're eating. I know from past experience this has had an effect.

Also my final thought on antiperspirants is that they would always leave terrible yellow stains on my white clothing and they wouldn't come out in the wash so my nice white shirts all had permeant yellow marks on them 😖

MrsBa · 11/07/2022 11:43

I know aluminium and other chemicals are bad, but I am so sweaty I need an antiperspirant to help, otherwise I'm wearing thicker 'hide the wet sweat marks', tops all summer.
One job I had required me to wear plain light blue tops, I always had huge dark wet marks, It was so embarrassing, i felt awful when I left and had to hand the tops back in.
My GP suggested the strong roll-on at night called Driclor, although it helped with the sweaty patches, it made me so sore and uncomfortable.
I love the ethics of the natural deodorants, but I just get too wet to look and feel comfortable. Watching this thread with interest.

Have recently bought Salt of the Earth spray via Amazon (probably can buy elsewhere). A bit expensive around £5 to £6, but it’s great, even in this hot weather I have applied in the morning, and not had to reapply all day. It comes in different scents, I have the lavender one, and blossom one.
