So I've been searching for a dress for a wedding and have ordered loads! Maybe easier now changing rooms are open 🙂
I've done a Google and apparently pear shapes are supposed to wear something to draw their eye up (I never knew).
It came up with this dress which I live, but it's white, and it's a wedding... Grrr, so I'm wondering if you can help me find something similar, please.

It's got a print by the looks, so it'd be fine for a wedding. It's lovely OP!

Iwantamarshmallowman · 19/07/2021 23:13

You could do an image search? I think there are a couple of retailers that do this as well as ebay and amazon.. or have u tried Googling the description?

Iwantamarshmallowman · 19/07/2021 23:19

M and co do the same dress in floral print but its not as nice. When i got married a had no issue with people wearing white, you could ask the bride if it would be ok.. its lovely btw.

Love that dress , stunning

lotsofchooksnducks · 20/07/2021 06:38

Lovely dress, but I agree not the right colour for a wedding.
It's basically a wrap dress with lots of ruffles.
Silk Fred as mentioned do lots of wrap dresses, also try Asos

Aginpleae · 20/07/2021 06:48

Thanks, I think it's the ruffles at the top, apparently pears are better with detail at the top to draw the eye away from the bottom!
I'll look properly at all your suggestions, I've tried the AX Paris style and unfortunately, it didn't do anything for me at all.

@Rina66 I love the orange one, thanks. The problem is I'm only 5ft4 too, so have to be careful with the length of long dresses.

"Ruffle wrap" or "chiffon wrap" gives lots of options.

dudsville · 20/07/2021 07:02

The notion that pears are supposed to draw the eye up implies that the size of your hips is a flaw. I'd say flaunt it, think of it as a feature! But these are all pretty dresses too!

Aginpleae · 20/07/2021 07:06

Thank you. It may be were I'm going wrong though, Ive tried that many dresses the last few weeks and none seem to suit me.
I do have a dress similar to these, that I could wear if I don't find anything, which fits me lovely, if I dress it up abit with some bright heels/bag.

I’d say that was a little to low cut for a pear. We’re better with higher neck lines, not v-neck, and definantly more pattern/features on our top half.

I think these dresses would suit pears.

Aginpleae · 20/07/2021 07:48

Thanks @Standrewsschool they are lovely dresses , but unfortunately out of my price range 😰

Marks and Next have sales on at the moment. M and S have been stocking dresses from other designers - Ghost etc. May be worth looking there? Also John Lewis have a sale.

borntobequiet · 20/07/2021 07:56

The dress is quite nice but the model’s pose is seriously weird. Why would anyone stand like that?

Rina66 · 20/07/2021 08:04

Lovely choice of dresses @Standrewsschool
Never noticed the pose @borntobequiet but now you mention it, it is very odd - I'd love to know a marketeers thinking behind that one!

Janaih · 20/07/2021 08:17

Agree @borntobequiet this awkward posing is a definite thing at the moment and it's ruining online shopping!

KirstenBlest · 20/07/2021 09:21

What's with the sitting down legs apart posing? It doesn't look good.
I also don't like the 'mouth-slightly-open ' expression. It's only female models that seem to be photographed that way.

borntobequiet · 20/07/2021 09:42

I also don't like the 'mouth-slightly-open ' expression.

I think it’s meant to look sexy but only succeeds in looking gormless. If you start looking objectively at fashion pics many of the poses make the models look ill, deformed, uncomfortable, unhappy and sometimes downright unpleasant.

ALittleBitConfused1 · 20/07/2021 09:48

Depends on how much you want to spend and whether you're looking for a large price tag. Boo hoo do a great petite range and have loads of summer dresses like this. They also do ndd for 5.00 and free easy returns. You would probably only be paying max £40.00 for a dress like this from there too but I know some don't like ordering the cheaper online stuff. I have a number of occasion outfits from there (as I'm one of those women who always buys a new outfit for a night/day out ha ha) I always receive compliments, although some of the stuff can look cheap the majority of it is good.

Aginpleae · 20/07/2021 10:12

Thanks for all your suggestions, I'm just out getting bits to go with my DD's outfit, which has been easier to pick than mine!!
@ALittleBitConfused1 no more than £50 really if I can help it, thanks.

Some lovely dresses here you'll look great in. Can I just kindly say that the 2 dark dresses you've posted are not for a summer wedding. Black/navy with lace are more Autumn/ winter and you'd look out of place, I think.

KirstenBlest · 20/07/2021 10:20

I agree @borntobequiet, they look gormless or gagging for it.
