So, picture included as the other day I saw a friend and she said that I looked lovely and she was 'loving the mumsy vibe'
She's not a nasty person and often speaks a mile a minute and says stuff without thinking, but it just made me feel I looked 'frumpy' - maybe in my mind as I do have 15/20 lbs extra on me after DD that I'm in the process of losing, and I feel nothing looks good anymore or suits my new shape ...anyway...opinions please

Op you look lovely in the second outfit.
I do know what your friend means about the pink top. The colour is lovely but the tie in the middle does make it look a bit ‘Mumsy’

PoorPawsPickPawpaws · 18/07/2021 06:43

my friend is very very glam and sexy, so she was in a short t shirt dress bare legs, some fashionable trainers and full face and done hair

Doesn't that make her vibe a bit cheugy?

Yes! It's a term I just learned from The Guardian. I am too old even to be cheugy 😁😁😁

Your outfit looks lovely.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 18/07/2021 06:51

Outfit 2 does have a v different vibe to outfit 1 - both nice though! To sharpen up outfit 1, a really nice trainer or birks and a black jean would have worked. The top colour was really nice on you though. Outfit 2 is amazing and I want it.

DukeofEarlGrey · 18/07/2021 07:05

You look great in both pics OP. Don’t waste any more of your time worrying about what your friend thinks!

WhereDidIGoNext · 18/07/2021 08:31

Op where is the jumpsuit from in second pic? It looks great on you

GalaxyGirl24 · 18/07/2021 08:57

@WhereDidIGoNext it's called 'ASOS DESIGN tie front shirred waist culotte jumpsuit in Sand' from ASOS - also on sale £7! Very mixed reviews about it on asos but I found it really flattering!!!

@PoorPawsPickPawpaws I've just googled Cheugy - 😂 (that emoji is also cheugy I've just discovered, oh dear, I'm past it obviously!)

Again, thanks for all of the advice! Definitely will be taking it on board when I wear that pink shirt again. I rarely wear pink so it probably did look 'soft' on me so maybe I need to rough/trendy the look up.

@Dugi3 thank you! And yes it is! I'm only just starting to feel like 'me' again whoever that was. And yeah I do wonder what she will do when (if) she ever has children as it's all about practicality in the young years, she often has 'gems' of advice as well from her own mum such as not letting my baby use me as a dummy as I'm still BFeeding 😆

Among some of the things listed as cheugy;

Denim jackets,
dresses and trainers
Polo shirts (men) unless playing golf
Herbal Essences
Trying too hard to be trendy
the crying laughing emoji
And using the word "cheugy". Confused

It's hard to keep up isn't it Grin

YellowColour · 18/07/2021 09:42

I really like it. Don't think it's mumsy at all

newnortherner111 · 18/07/2021 09:57

Mumsy is not the word I think. Preference would be for the first instead of the second. The only thing I am not liking in the first is cropped (three inch too short) jeans, but that is not you but the fashion itself.

TableNiner · 18/07/2021 10:08

I’d say the pink top would maybe look less ‘mumsy’ tucked in as it’s more on trend. It’s seems a bit too long. But it’s a perfectly nice outfit.

Cocolapew · 18/07/2021 10:15

Wtf is mumsy? There's always something to put women down for their clothes or hair choice, frumpy, mumsy, Karen, it's so tiresome.

H328 · 18/07/2021 10:32

I don't think your first outfit was mumsy, could easily see a non-mother wearing it. It was perfectly nice!

Don't think I could have bit my tongue if someone had said that to me tbh. I'm completely sick of women being criticised no matter what they wear or how they look.

MaintainingPositivity · 18/07/2021 11:51

My whipper snapper of a co-worker says I'm Mumsy, well yes I am a Mum and older than their Mum.

I hate that it's used as a derogatory term, one more thing to worry about, well it would be if I cared!

Newmum110 · 18/07/2021 12:04

I love the shirt, have just bought it, you are a great advertisement 😁

BatshitCrazyWoman · 18/07/2021 12:30

@Cocolapew

Completely agree. Your friend sounds rude and bitchy. Both the outfits you posted are soft and feminine, and from what I can see suit you. That's your style, and it works for you. Ignore your friend, putting you down like that.
Myshitisreal · 18/07/2021 14:01

That's exactly what the second outfit says, "here's me, take it or leave it".

Total 🔥!

LucyLockhearts · 18/07/2021 17:06

Sorry but in all honesty it looks like a sack of spuds with the tie round your middle.

There is just too much material and it does you no favours.

I'm sorry but no point saying it looks great when IMO (and only that) I think it's not flattering.

You'd suit something more fitted.

Katefoster · 18/07/2021 17:27

I reallt like it. However there's no way I could wear jeans in this weather!

FreeBritnee · 18/07/2021 17:28

I really like that and don’t think it looks ‘mumsy’ at all. What footwear were you wearing?

FreeBritnee · 18/07/2021 17:32

And I agree in the second outfit you look smokin’!!! 😎

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/07/2021 17:38

Must admit, I'm not loving the second outfit, sorry. I like the kaftan thing, but not the jumpsuit, which (imo) looks too small on the boobs.

GalaxyGirl24 · 19/07/2021 06:59

Thanks all for advice, compliments and constructive criticism. Style and Beauty never fails!

@FreeBritnee I had one brown chunky doc marten sandals :)

EllaPaella · 19/07/2021 07:46

It's just a top and jeans, looks absolutely fine and you wear it well OP.
We can't all walk round looking absolutely killer stylish all day everyday- sometimes (most of the time for me) a top and jeans suffices perfectly well!

Neondisco · 19/07/2021 08:20

@Anoisagusaris

That is a perfectly lovely outfit. Wtf does ‘mumsy’ even mean these days?
Yeah what does mumsy mean?

Also it was hugely rude of your friend to say this.
