Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs - a review

Following a recommendations here a few days ago, I ordered the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs colour. I bought this one www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003BQSWDC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?th=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8 in deep glow (I have olive skin).

I tried it this morning as I wanted to wear shorts. It is very easy to apply (spray on your hand, rub hands together, then rub on your legs), it dries quickly, doesn't streak, doesn't rub off on clothes, and looks great. My neighbour in fact remarked on my amazing leg tan when I went outside!

Apparently it comes off with soap and water.

For me this will be something I wear when I have my bare legs out (shorts, mini skirts, etc) rather than a daily thing. I strongly recommend you give it a try if, like me, you were fed up with pale legs and wanted a fuss-free solution.

Thank you to those of you who recommended this product in another thread this week!

I've wondered on and off it if was any good, but I have now ordered some on the strength of your post, thanks!

I hope you'll enjoy it - mine is still going strong despite I was sitting in the sun and my legs got quite sweaty!

God I'm such a sheep, I've just bought this now

EarringsandLipstick · 16/07/2021 18:26

Use it for years. I don't use it instead of fake tan but as leg makeup (as it's described) and it's brilliant for covering any blemishes, veins etc & making sure your legs look smooth. I love it.

Oddbutnotodd · 16/07/2021 18:44

I think it’s great but the light one is dark enough. I tend to mix mine with moisturiser so it’s not as dark. I only want a gentle glow rather than a full deep tan.

OneForTheRoadThen · 16/07/2021 18:49

Does anyone know if it covers stretch marks?

I think it would. I've quite a few blemishes & marks. Works really well on them.

I don't see it as a fake tan at all tho. I use a separate gradual tanner. It's marketed as 'leg makeup' & that's what it is really. So it doesn't IMO provide much of a colour but like make up on your face, will give an even coverage & make your skin look better.

EarringsandLipstick · 16/07/2021 18:59

Also just use it on the parts of your legs people will see! Might sound obvious but ... I apply gradual tanner to my full legs. But just use Sally Hansen on the lower legs, but above the knee.

It does stay on but marks clothes a bit eg hem of skirts. Washes out ok tho.

OneForTheRoadThen · 16/07/2021 19:03

Thanks Earrings. Which Tanner do you use?

EarringsandLipstick · 16/07/2021 19:10

Thanks Earrings. Which Tanner do you use?
I use Dove usually, light to medium but find any of them good. I use them on my legs & arms year round as I've pale skin & it takes the 'bare' look off them & I feel more comfortable eg for work with shorter sleeves or 3/4 trousers, even in winter.

The Sally Hansen I use 'light glow' too. Anything darker & I find it v obvious on my skin, which is naturally pale.

For me, as I got into my 40s, I hated the marks, post-pregnancy veins etc. I'm sure they weren't that noticeable but I'm happy with my legs themselves & with the SH, feel confident to wear short-shorts, miniskirts etc in the summer / on hols.

SophiesMummySaid · 16/07/2021 19:18

I love it to, have used it for years. Doesn’t get washed off paddling or in the rain, needs a bit of soap and water in the shower and it comes right off. So you can wash it off your hands easily. And no forward planning needed - want to wear a skirt today - ta da! I use either light or medium depending on my background paleness / time of year.

MagicMatilda · 16/07/2021 22:55

This is a life saver…love it! Wish all tans were as easy to apply as this.

sadie9 · 16/07/2021 22:59

You can use a tanning mitt too. Spray the mitt not your legs and then apply in quick circular 'polishing' motion. Very quick to apply that way and goes on evenly. Also works great for arms, shoulders, back etc.

FedNlanders · 16/07/2021 23:00

It rubs off on clothes.

EarringsandLipstick · 16/07/2021 23:01

@FedNlanders

It rubs off on clothes.
I don't find that. A little on the hem of a skirt maybe but nothing significant and it washes out.
TSSDNCOP · 16/07/2021 23:35

I've also been using this product for years, it's far and away the best for legs.

TSSDNCOP · 16/07/2021 23:37

Agree also about it washing off hens at worst.

It's one of the only products that does what it says on the tin.

TableNiner · 17/07/2021 00:01

I’ve used this for years too. I don’t get my legs out enough to warrant a lot of fake tanning so this is perfect for the odd occasion. It is very natural looking.

TSSDNCOP · 17/07/2021 00:07

HEMS obviously do not use this product on an MN chicken!

OddshoesOddsocks · 17/07/2021 01:23

I use this too and thoroughly recommend it, it’s brilliant and just takes the ‘milk bottle sheen’ off my very pale legs!

Imagine! It'd last for months Grin
paisley256 · 17/07/2021 02:10

I'd be completely lost without this product. I use light glow just to take the edge off my bluey white legs. So easy to apply if I decide to wear a skirt and no mucking about with proper tanners it's so freeing I love it!

timeisnotaline · 17/07/2021 02:19

@Oddbutnotodd did you find it rubbed off more with moisturiser? I have it but have super dry skin and psoriasis so scales and bumps everywhere and it does look uneven, I haven’t dared moisturiser as afraid it will rub off on everything (clothes, chairs, beds) so don’t use it.

noodlezoodle · 17/07/2021 04:15

I also am half woman, half milk bottle and I LOVE this stuff. I didn't really think it would work, but it's v natural looking and I haven't found it rubbed off on anything.

I also use a mitt and agree that makes it a lot easier. If you don't have a mitt, I found it easier to spray into my hand and rub on, rather than directly onto legs.

@timeisnotaline I think if you used moisturiser and then used the SHAL when the moisturiser sinks in, it probably wouldn't shift. Even with soap and water I have to be thorough to remove it! If you already have it, it's definitely worth experimenting at home to see if it works for you.
