Am I the only one who thinks that thick eyebrows don't suit EVERYONE?

Hi,

Just that really. Not saying they can't look fabulous on some people and the pencil thin 90's look isn't really great on anyone, but I've noticed that people's brows seem to be getting bigger and bigger and darker and darker, spurred on by the micro blading trend.

On my wedding day (pre covid) I had to ask my make up artist to take them off, as I looked absolutely ridiculous! They must have been an inch thick! I was also orange and highlighted to hell, but that's another story Confused I essentially ended up doing my own make up. Money well spent Hmm

Anyway, that's all! Just wondering if anyone else agrees...

YANBU. One size does not fit all and a thicker brow will look fantastic on some, it will look terrible on others. It's the same for virtually every trend and fad.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 15/07/2021 18:08

They don't suit me , mine are natural , I never pluck them and they are fairly hairy but blonde. If I pencil them in I look weird

Bunnyfuller · 15/07/2021 18:09

Thick obvious enhanced/sculpted brows don’t suit ANYONE

BobbinThreadbare123 · 15/07/2021 18:33

On behalf of the people of my home region, I apologise for the Scouse brow and all it has spawned.
I overdid the plucking in the late 90s so I live with the after effects of sparseness, as is my just punishment Grin

goose1964 · 15/07/2021 20:02

They'd look stupid on me , mine are light brown but like the rest of my hair, apart from my head is very sparse. I only bother drawing over the gaps when I'm going out somewhere special. I can only imagine the laughter if I turned up with thick black ones.

MysteriousMonkey · 15/07/2021 20:05

I'm of the opinion unless natural they don't suit anyone... No one I've seen anyway.

Granohlaa · 15/07/2021 20:16

Eyebrows are just part of the bigger issue of the ridiculous amount of makeup and fillers that huge amounts of young women today use in order to change what I presume they consider to be flaws in their appearance? Thanks insta/filters.

I work with university students, mainly female, mainly 18-25 and the majority of them are so far removed from their natural appearance. It must take a huge amount of time and money.

I can’t help but feel quite sad for them. I’m not sure why and I’m sure I’d be exactly the same if I wasn’t past it at 41! I donreally hope that the natural look is a bit more in when my DDs are older though.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 15/07/2021 20:16

I hate them. The way there’s almost 90 degree angles at the start of them.

They just look so stupid.

Flambola · 15/07/2021 20:53

I’m not keen on the laminated brow trend I must admit. It can look good, but not on everyone.

I still pluck my eyebrows, just a tad, as otherwise I look too much like my brother.

OddSox123 · 15/07/2021 21:08

Initially I liked the laminated brow look but lately I've seen it on some people and looks hideous! Ok it might be the latest trend but if it doesn't suit your face shape, avoid it...

PearlNextDoor · 15/07/2021 21:10

I know this thread is about eyebrows, but when I had my hair cut last week, I could not believe the eyelashes on the young woman who was at the desk. I know eyelashes are a thing, but hers were like MOUSTACHES. There were no gaps at all. it was so mad. I can't believe the salon managers didn't tell her ''that'll frighten the clients''
Confused

It's mad the things that people think make them look better!

EllaPaella · 15/07/2021 22:48

YANBU!

stealingbeauty · 15/07/2021 23:18

I don’t think many people suit thick brows.

ChaToilLeam · 15/07/2021 23:22

They look awful on most people. Like overdone highlighting and contouring. It’s more like stage makeup than for everyday.

Elieza · 15/07/2021 23:45

Yup. Some people suit them. Others don’t.

My personal pet hate is brows that look like upside down ticks. Where the end nearest the nose doesn’t gradually taper it is deliberately plucked into a vertical line and then a horizontal line. I’m not explaining it well but it doesn’t look good.

ShrikeAttack · 16/07/2021 02:21

Brows.

Am I the only one who thinks that thick eyebrows don't suit EVERYONE?
Seesawmummadaw · 16/07/2021 04:52

@ShrikeAttack you have lovely brows.

Op it’s the same as anything surely? One size doesn’t suit all.

Proseccohashaditsday · 16/07/2021 07:14

@Seesawmummadaw, yes, as I said in my OP, they do suit some, not all.

OP posts:
Proseccohashaditsday · 16/07/2021 07:17

@ShrikeAttack, yours look like actual eyebrows - as in real hairs, not a heavy dark inky line.

jay55 · 16/07/2021 14:08

It's a trend I've totally avoided.
Just a way to sell a shit-ton more products.

I miss the 90s sperm shaped brows. GrinGrin

Lira91 · 16/07/2021 23:21

Perrie from Little Mix is the perfect example of big brows not suiting everyone. She's someone that actually can pull off the thin brow, and I wish she'd just stick to something halfway!

KittyWindbag · 17/07/2021 07:00

They don’t suit me at all - I have tried fluffing them up as I quite like that boy brow look on other people but god it looks dreadful on me. I do wonder if people are about to really regret getting microblading done as surely fashion dictates we are in a for a return to a radical skinny brow??

Alternista · 17/07/2021 07:05

I think they look odd on almost everyone tbh!

HelenHywater · 17/07/2021 07:23

They look awful on everyone imo. Groups of young women all walking around with ridiculous thick black brows with straight edges.

Thankfully my dds don't do it.

3Britnee · 17/07/2021 08:23

@ChaToilLeam

They look awful on most people. Like overdone highlighting and contouring. It’s more like stage makeup than for everyday.
That's because it's come from celebrity makeup routines.

Most of it looks ridiculous but toned down versions look ok.
