What are your thoughts on these? Not for gym wear but as a daytime look with a sweat shirt or oversized shirt? I'm early 40s with ok legs 🤣 or should I leave this look to the younger folk 😓😂

I think you will get people on here telling you that you are too old for this look but honestly, if you have decent legs - either slim or very toned and muscular then I think cycling shorts can look cool at your age. Like you say, with an oversized top

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/07/2021 12:22

I was wearing them last year and will be getting a maternity pair this year! Not brave enough to wear them with a blazer and heels Grin but with a loose shirt, long oversized t-shirt or sweatshirt they look good I think. And so comfy! I'm nearly 35.

Rollercoaster1920 · 15/07/2021 12:55

Only for doing sport in my view. Same with sports leggings which seem popular with the mums at school for the school 'run' (short walk or drive?). To be fair one mum does run to school with her year 4 child cycling. I'm impressed at the multi-tasking!

FrangipaniBlue · 15/07/2021 13:03

As someone who permanently lives in Lycra whether I'm actually exercising or not, I say do it!

PeacheyPeach · 15/07/2021 13:11

@rollercoaster1920 aww I would love to be that type of mum but I'm usually running up the road as we are late for school again 😃
Well I think I might give it a go. I don't think twice about wearing a pair of denim shorts and they show off much more leg than say these with an oversized top would.
@blairwaldorflovesshopping yes I think I will leave the heels and blazer look to the gorgeous girls in my family!! I can't believe I've got to the age now were i have to worry about being to old for certain fashions 😢😢 that's depressing isn't it !!?

Never too old for an Elsa dress!

PeacheyPeach · 15/07/2021 13:12

@honeybuns007 @frangipaniBlue
Thank you ☺️

Look a bit 🥴 off the bike

unbalancedBella · 15/07/2021 14:48

I've got 10 years on you, OP, and I've been wearing them this year with loose top and/or blazer.

We are talking fashion "cycling shorts" aren't we. Proper cycling shorts for cycling have big pads in them: no way I'd wear mine off the bike.

PeacheyPeach · 15/07/2021 15:21

@unbalancedbella 😂 yes I'm talking about the non padded bum ones! I don't own any sportswear definitely not going to see me in shiny lycra 🤣

I was coming on to say the new endura drop seat bib shorts are awesome but suspect that may not be what you're looking for. I pretty much live in cycling shorts. 😁

DamsonJammyBastard · 15/07/2021 15:30

Very Diana on people over the age of 25. Go for it and see if you like it! A fun and passing trend.

DamsonJammyBastard · 15/07/2021 15:32

Diana did have a cracking pair of pins it has to be said

newnortherner111 · 15/07/2021 15:46

Not as bad as leggings but proper standard shorts or a skort looks much better.

PeacheyPeach · 15/07/2021 16:08

@damsonjammybastard I think this is the look I've been thinking of. Probs because I've been watching the crown 😂 will have to shave above my knees though thinking about it 😉

gogohm · 15/07/2021 16:18

I wear them under dresses that are long enough to cover them (just) because flashing your knickers at my age isn't a good look! and helps with chub rub

frugalkitty · 15/07/2021 20:37

DD was telling me just the other day that cycling shorts are on trend. Not with my legs they wouldn't be Grin she's bought hers in Primark, £2.50 a pair. I'd suggested the school uniform section but apparently that's not the same thing. At all.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/07/2021 20:48

I got mine in Mint Velvet, and am very happy with them. I wouldn’t go too cheap as then I’d be worrying about possible transparency!

CrouchEndTiger12 · 15/07/2021 20:50

Not too old for it. But no one does it now.

It is a very 90s trend. I remember wearing bike shorts and a t shirt as clothes but I was at primary school. It was everywhere back then not now though.

CrouchEndTiger12 · 15/07/2021 20:51

Sweaty betty do nice ones!

Myshitisreal · 15/07/2021 21:00

I think it's very much personal taste.

I would look ridiculous in them, it wouldn't match my style at all.

That said, if they suit you and you look good in them , wear them!I don't buy into all this shite about being too old for specific clothes items.

But.... I'm not a fashion follower either 😂

Trebormints74 · 15/07/2021 21:03

It’s come back round!

Trebormints74 · 15/07/2021 21:03

That was aimed at @CrouchEndTiger12

Great un

CrouchEndTiger12 · 15/07/2021 21:06

@Trebormints74

It’s come back round!
Ah OK. I haven't noticed it yet!
Whattodonow5 · 15/07/2021 22:15

Definitely not too old. Love the Diana pics, it's funny how fashions come full circle even the ones you think would never make a comeback.

I'd definitely be wearing them if I had decent legs.
