Shoes to go with this dress?

I've got this dress that I'll be wearing to a couple of 'events' this year. Once to a wedding, and at least once into London (will need to take the train in and walk a small amount).

I'm thinking of possibly a gold or a black shoe. But not opposed to silver or nude either if it looks ok. I am quite petite and fine boned - so skinny ankles. Nothing too chunky. I'd like a medium to higher heel (probably on the higher side) because I'm only 5'4. The first thing that came to mind was a black or gold heeled strappy sandal with a toe strap about 1-1.5cm wide and an ankle strap. There is not a lot of space between my ankle and the bottom of the dress so I'm wondering if there is a sling back option that means my ankle won't look chopped off with the ankle strap. Can anyone think of any?

Also open to any other suggestions!!

Bonus points for suggesting a handbag as well. Would like to keep the costs down if possible. £120ish give or take for the shoes. Also open to pictures above that rand just for style inspo.

Thanks!

That’s beautiful, is it Self Portrait?

I have the black Self Portrait Azaelea dress and have always worn pointed nude shoes with it. But feel like that is super dull. Love your idea of gold.

This or a low heeled orange suede?

Lovely dress, but I wouldn't wear black to a wedding. Others on here will say its fine, but I wouldn't.

What is your colouring? Pale, dark, olive? What colour jewellery do you usually wear? Gold/silver? Nude, silver or gold shoes would all go. I'm dark haired, and would even go with red shoes and handbag to lift it a bit.

John Lewis has a sale on currently.

Beautiful dress. I love the shoes in the picture. Are they Valentino? I think this bag is fab…

Thanks for the suggestion but these are far too low, and a little 'granny' rather than sexy. I want an open toe. Also really hate the colour orange

I am a summer colouring - fair with long light blonde hair. I'm well aware black is not my ideal colour but I will have a tan so it helps. Also this dress has some nude peaking through which helps it work with my colouring. I can get away with a dull / brushed gold colour, but not a bright shiny gold.

I just want a simple shoe and bag. Nothing to compete with the dress

Thank you, but not keen on that. I think the accordion edges of the bag compete too much with the pattern of the dress. I'm thinking something fairly simple.

I'm thinking something like this - both in style and in colour. But these are Giuseppe Zanotti and are no longer available and sadly not in my price range. I will need a bit of a chunkier heel as I'll be on my feet for quite a while.

Would you go for a pop of colour - green, fuchsia or yellow?

Light gold would be fine. Black def not and nude always looks odd to me.

Yes, I thought maybe these? But are they too chunky?

I like this style and don't mind the look. I had looked at these ones actually. Would prefer a plain leather rather than a printed. But these ones are a no as they're sold out in my size anyways otherwise I probably would have ordered them

Those green ones are lovely and would be gorgeous with your dress

moonfacebaby · 06/07/2021 17:48

Would this bag work with those shoes?

I think you definitely need a pop of bright colour. Red is always my go to but I think anything bright would work.

moonfacebaby · 06/07/2021 19:45

@Pinkcadillac that bag is beautiful

Sssloou · 06/07/2021 20:42

Those green ones are lovely a colour and shape but suede says winter to me especially combined with the black dress might be a bit heavy. Just also thought that gold shoes with the black dress might be a bit Christmas works do?
