BEST Mascara recommendations pls!!!!

So after buying about 4 or 5 budget priced mascaras & then being crap and the fact that my favourite mascara, which ironically wasn’t expensive at all has been discontinued- I’m looking for a decent replacement. I was lulled into a false sense of security I suppose with my favourite mascara, believing that you didn’t have to pay much for a great mascara, but so far I tried - the one from Wilkos, princess or something, max factor false lash, L’Oréal millions, a Rimmel one (cant remember which one) maybeline sensational and a collection one. They all either smudge or turn clumpy.
My favourite one was the CYO from Boots it was about £6, £3 if on offer and bloody amazing! But it’s discontinued.
I have never paid over £11 or £12 for a mascara & have now found out that next actually sell high end ones like ysl, mac, benefit, Clinique, Dior so is it worth paying that little extra? Looking for length & volume! Recommendations pls!

I love the Benefit they’re real mascara

Cluckycluck · 29/06/2021 07:21

My favourites currently are:
Benefit Roller Lash
Maybelline Sky High
Loreal Air Volume
Revolution The Mascara

I don't think higher end mascaras are worth it really as there are so many good cheap ones around. I think the ones you've tried probably just don't suit you are aren't designed to give your desired look.

Are you looking for length or volume? If you have trouble with smudging then try some waterproof formulas.

Keepyourdistance000 · 29/06/2021 07:27

Essence Lash Princess - less than £5 and just as good, if not better, than expensive mascara. In fact most of the Essence range is better than the high end stuff.

LilacSorbet · 29/06/2021 07:30

Lancome Monsieur Big is my absolute go to.

Haven't found a budget one that suits me yet so I'm interested in the replies you get!

SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge · 29/06/2021 08:23

Caution extreme lash - hourglass

Best one I’ve used

ElderMillennial · 29/06/2021 08:36

I like the benefit ones

Kittyshopping · 29/06/2021 08:41

Lancôme Hypnose. Excellent.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/06/2021 08:43

Maybelline collosal the yellow tube with the purple print- there are lots of different formulas. Not waterproof but holds up to crying and hayfever and doesn't smudge. Comes off with a wash cloth and water.

twilightcafe · 29/06/2021 08:48

I have thin, sparse lashes so I need va-va-voom.
My current favourites are Maybelline Sky High, Rimmel Extra 3D Lash and Diorshow Pump n Volume (amazing but costs £29.50).

Comedycook · 29/06/2021 08:49

@Kittyshopping

Lancôme Hypnose. Excellent.
Seconded
PurpleyBlue · 29/06/2021 08:50

Lancôme Hypnose or Benefit They're real.

What sort of effect are you after

PurpleyBlue · 29/06/2021 08:51

Do you want naturalish looking or false lash big massive lashes?

BroccoliRob · 29/06/2021 08:59

@SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge

Caution extreme lash - hourglass

Best one I’ve used

Second this.

I also used to use YSL Faux Cil for years which I found amazing but it dries out so quickly and is not exactly budget friendly!

BroccoliRob · 29/06/2021 09:01

L'Oreal Lash Paradise is a good budget friendly option

ThatOtherPoster · 29/06/2021 09:53

I really like Max Factor mascaras. My favourite is False Lash Effect. It’s not wet or clumpy so it’s really good at separating and defining each lash. It also builds really well. I’ve got long eyelashes anyway but this makes them HOOOOGE.

Meggymoo777 · 29/06/2021 09:55

I love the Collection Lash Surge, available from Boots and only £5!

Imtoooldforallthis · 29/06/2021 10:40

Are any of these tubing mascaras.

Kjr33 · 29/06/2021 11:14

Cheap mascara elf, natural look glossier (tubing and stays put really well), more glam I have a tarte one that seems good so far. I find tubing mascaras are better for me.

Justcashnosweets · 29/06/2021 11:38

The Aldi mascara is surprisingly good. Doesn't clump at all.

TonkinLenkicks · 29/06/2021 11:59

Lights camera lashes by Tarte is by far the best mascara I have ever ever had. Makes you look like you’ve had a lash lift and is waterproof and also easy to remove in the evening. It’s so expensive though, but absolutely worth it. My budget one is one from wilko- false lash effect which is also amazing and really cheep.

pheonixrebirth · 29/06/2021 12:03

Maybellines false lash! Get asked if I've got lash extensions all the time.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 29/06/2021 13:06

My favourite mascara (MAC False Lashes) has been discontinued, so I am on a similar hunt. I quite like Lancome Monsieur Big, but find it dries out quickly. I got another Lancome one (new in a gold tube, Idole maybe?) which is far too "wet", and currently have another MAC one which has a horrible brush, although I do like the actual product.

Any tips for:

Waterproof, no smudging
Brush-y brush with bristles rather than rubbery
Very black, proper drag queen lashes, not subtle/natural

ArabeI · 29/06/2021 13:11

I use Benefit Badgal then follow with a tweezerman metal lash comb.

harryandmarv · 29/06/2021 16:09

I have tried the Wilkos Essence one and that didn't suit along with the Max Factor False Lash and the Collection Lash Surge. I did try the Benefit They're Real a long time ago and I can't say I was super impressed by it.

I use to use Loreal Volume Millions, it was my go to until I discovered the CYO one, but even going back to the Loreal one that, it just goes on clumpy!

I suppose I want fuller, darker looking lashes so yeah I want to look like I am wearing mascara or at least have some natural falsies in, if that makes sense?!

I am will to pay a bit more this time, but don't want to pay £20+ and be disappointed, if I'm going to pay twenty odd quid I want to be amazed!!

I can't for the life of me apply false lashes, I'm so cack-handed!

Benefit, hourglass, Lancôme, Nars and I’ve just ordered a VBBeauty to try.

I love the benefit magnet one that’s just been released. And my old favourite and standby mascara is Max Factor 1000 calorie mascara, it’s brilliant.
