So, are we tucking everything in now?

Is this the new fashion? And more importantly, will it help my mum tum?!

I refus to go back to the 80s tucking in and pulling out a bit and then trying to stop it all sticking out at odd angles - all the while trying not the let the multi layer shoulder pads knock into door frames. Bloody hell - not all of that again !

lakesummer · 18/06/2021 20:32

I've started tucking because my new trousers seem to require it.
As I'm short with a large chest but still have some waist left it is actually an ok look on me.

TheBobJog · 18/06/2021 20:35

I can't tuck, I have not much more than a hands width between bust and waist.

If I tuck, I look like one of those novelty egg cups with long legs!

Pixysmoke · 18/06/2021 20:38

Love the tuck.

HeronLanyon · 18/06/2021 20:39

Me too thebobjog I have a short body and long legs. I don’t have room to tuck !! Without it all bunching up.

HeronLanyon · 18/06/2021 20:40

And love the novelty egg cup image

SpinbikeNotebook · 18/06/2021 20:59

Love to tuck, but never in jeans for me. Too much tummy. It just looks odd.

I will tuck into skirts though or big, wide leg trousers. It's actually really flattering.

ILoveShula · 18/06/2021 21:04

I've been tucking my top in for a while clothes permitting, I don't tuck a shirt into my leggings.

Don't like the French tuck.

dontgobaconmyheart · 18/06/2021 23:17

No sure but I always tuck, at the very least partially. I feel a bit frumpy if I don't as I wear a lot of loose oversized shirts and jumpers (always roll the sleeves up a bit and tuck into jeans). Otherwise tight vest tops tucked in with a loose fit shirt open over the the top as a sort of jacket. Something is always tucked though.

EversoDelighted · 18/06/2021 23:29

I can't with jeans, but wide leg trousers or skirts maybe. Never seen the French tuck look good on anyone in real life though, seems to be something only models can get away with.

AnnieSnap · 18/06/2021 23:38

Aren’t we supposed to be just tucking 25% now? 😳

RiverSkater · 18/06/2021 23:41

Post menopause no, this podge has to be draped. Grin

Littleguggi · 18/06/2021 23:52

No way, would rather wear a crop top!

musicalfrog · 19/06/2021 00:34

Just googled the french tuck. Looks awful!

StarlightLady · 19/06/2021 06:41

No tuck in here. No high waist here.

Deathraystare · 19/06/2021 14:59

'We' might but i do not. Why would i want to advertise my rolls of flab? Plus the French tuck is such a nonsense. Like you could not decide if you want your top in or out or are still waiting for your friends' comments.

enjoyingscience · 19/06/2021 15:02

Yep, love it. I’ve gone full nineties today with some wide leg lee jeans with a high waist. Sadly, I’ve a face like a bag of spanner’s, so can’t carry a crop top without looking absolutely mad, so tucked in is a happy compromise.

Boood · 19/06/2021 15:43

I do a half tuck. If you have a spare tyre you need to switch to a higher waist though, otherwise the tucking just highlights it nicely. (I have a spare tyre, I’m not just being an arse)

FusionChefGeoff · 19/06/2021 15:46

It was paper bag shorts with a huge gathered waist that made me realise I was supposed to be tucking in.

I love it!! Have a good waist but huge hips so it really works for my shape.

Domoresteps · 19/06/2021 16:01

It doesn’t suit me. I’ve got a short body so if I tuck something in to a high waist I just get the bow then the boobs with no gap.

MrsBobDylan · 19/06/2021 16:36

I only really wear jeans but I tuck in now. Got lots of high waisted jeans. Waiting for these beauties to arrive soon!

So, are we tucking everything in now?
newnortherner111 · 19/06/2021 16:55

Yes, so Simon Cowell is fashionable 20 years down the line.

EastWestWhosBest · 19/06/2021 17:03

So much has been in fashion over the last few years that would have seen you bullied in the past.
Top button done up,
Tucked in
Rucksack on both shoulders.

And don’t even start on slippers and socks!

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 19/06/2021 18:46

All the young people do and don't worry about bug tummies ( I work with a a lot ) .. I'm hourglass and have always tucked in , it's much more flattering if you have a waist !

lockdownalli · 19/06/2021 18:51

Agree with PP - you have to be slim to get away with skinnies and tucked in tops, but luckily with modern shaped jeans and trousers the tucked in look is much easier to pull off, even if you are a bit bigger.

I like the French Tuck.
