Purchases you regret?

I think it's safe to say we've all made a few purchases that we retreat for one reason or another. I've been going through my wardrobe lately realising I've spent so much money on things I've just not got much use out of for one reason or another. I've also scored some great deals on eBay as a result of other people's purchases they've not even bothered to wear / use recently.

One of mine that has stood out is this LV Graceful bag. At the time I already had several other LV bags and was using my Neverful every day as my daily work bag. I got the Graceful, and while I do love it I think it's just too corporate looking for my day to day outfits now which are a bit more casual elegant I'd say. Wish I'd chosen a different style.

What do you regret buying?

Remoska from Lakeland
Wanted one for years and friends said they used it every day
I’ve used it 4 times in 5 years and every time the food has burned

I have a black leather pencil skirt hanging in my wardrobe, unworn. I like them on other people, but every time I try it with an outfit, I just think “hmmmm” and then “no”. Having it there has at least saved me from buying a leather biker jacket, which I suspect would turn out exactly the same!
@Prettybubblesintheair might be a daft suggestion but I think there's a fluid people add to broken eye shadows that once dry fixes them. Could you crush the pearls in individual colour and press them yourself in a pan going of the colour clusters from a photo of the pressed one? Might save money if you can
It's rubbing alcohol so cheap as chips!

@Patapouf thank you I couldn't remember which type of alcoholic was.

@Itwasgoodwhileitlasted

That's a gorgeous bag op.

Why not sell it?

In fact sell it to me for £40. Please Grin

Came here to say the same thing! OP if you don’t want it I’ll have it!!

Regrets - the hourglass ambient 6 pan palette. Does nothing for me. The bronze is very rusty, the blushes don’t suit me and the powders do nothing.
At home gel nail kit, destroyed my nails and left one of them with a nasty fungal infection I’m still fighting.

Philips Lumea. It was highly recommended on here by lots of posters. I’ve been using it on my armpits for the past year and still having to shave daily 🙄 granted the hairs are finer and there aren’t as many but I expected to be able to stop shaving, for a few weeks at least.
It’s a hassle if you’re still having to shave too. I do my legs one week, armpits and chin the next. Takes quite a while.

A Kate Spade handbag a couple of years ago. I don’t know what I was thinking, it’s not me at all.

Some diamond hoop earrings - they were far too heavy
Thankfully I managed to sell them for a profit
A gold watch purchased to replace one I’d had for years - it didn’t have the same quality and as soon as I could afford to replace it I did
It’s still languishing in my jewellery box - time to eBay it!

A Joules winter coat. Not hugely expensive compared to Mullberry bags but I had been quite excited about finding a coat I liked. Turned out the hood was so heavy it pulled it backwards off your shoulders if it wasn't fastened. And the zip catches every time and I've ripped the lining of the bloody thing trying to extricate myself from it! For £140 you expect better!

I also had a coat with a hood that would fall backwards off my shoulders, and slide down my back. It was a Max Mara one and I had already paid to get it altered before I found out. It had no fastenings, just a belt so nothing to keep it in place. I wasn't best pleased.

A Versace bag. A beautiful bag. The base was wider than the top, it had a long strap and handles. I prefer to use the long strap and when I wore it on my shoulder every person that went past me would bang into the corner of the base of it. It wasn't as if it was in the way, I keep my bag close to my side, and it seemed as if they were all doing it on purpose.

I bought this pale pink cashmere jumper, pink is not my colour despite being very skinny at the time I felt like a giant marshmallow. I also bought a gorgeous brown and gold wrap dress that was beautiful, well the colour was incredible, but my boobs are very high up and it was so stressful to wear, I was either exposing acres of boob or leg if the wind blew. I got lots of attention in that dress but it wasn't for me.

Not especially expensive but the Revlon hot brush and a UV gel nail kit. Both given to me as presents I asked for so I feel guilty giving them away but I’m just so shockingly bad at using both.
I’ve tried to persevere with doing my own nails but every time I end up taking them off as soon as I’ve finished as they look so shite! 10 years of continual salon manicures has spoilt me.

Loads.

I get easily sucked into purchases that are not me (Paul Smith shirt dress - terrible style for my 34Es) or even worse don't fit (beautiful rixos dress which will suit me in -5lb)

'Bargain' shoes in sales a couple of months ago. They were a bargain because they aren't comfortable. I'm not a total bore over "comfortable footwear", and I like to look nice, not just interested in comfort. But seriously, now think I have to stick to Birkenstocks, boots and trainers for the rest of my days! I've had a nightmare with my feet lately and it just isn't worth it.

Good God, did I say I wasn't a comfortable footwear bore Blush?

A mulberry Bayswater in oxblood. So heavy. Bought a couple of years ago and used once maybe.

A mulberry Anthony messenger bag. Feels like a school satchel to me.

Clearly a bit of a theme here

Same except my Bayswater is grey. It sits neglected in its dustbag.

I just bought some Gucci trainers. They were a treat for me. I bought them in a size too small after not being able to decide which size was right and the salesman telling me get smaller they will stretch. 2 months on they're in pristine condition because the first wear gave me such bad blisters and then it became sandal season Grin
I can't even bring myself to tell dh the truth why I'm not wearing them as they were a fair amount out of our monthly joint money and dh took me to Gucci to cheer me up after I was having a crappy time. Sigh.

Anything slightly stylish. It sits in my wardrobe unworn. I live in a large but rural city and even at nice restaurants or parties I get embarrassing comments about being 'so dressed up'. I'm usually wearing jeans, a nice top and boots. I do wonder who buys & wears all the lovely clothes I see in the shops.

Guerlain meteorites the pearls. I want to love them but I just don’t! I’m asking for the pressed powder compact for my birthday in the hope that I’ll prefer it as in concept it’s great, green to counteract redness lilac to brighten etc, the Pearl format just doesn’t work for me!

Sadly the compact is one of the things I regret.

It's strange, IRL it makes almost no difference to my complexion (but the violet scent is violent), but on zoom calls it makes me look weirdly blotchy and puffy.

I see Hourglass ambient powder has already been mentioned. I bought the ethereal light compact and it does nothing much at all. I'd been expecting a nice sheen or glow.

I had a Mulberry Anthony. The lock broke on mine, but I didn't much like it anyway and had barely used it.

Two, yes two, Anna Scholz Silk Tunics at nearly £300 each (not at the same time) I wore one of them once and never got to wear the other because I lost a lot of weight. I sold them for £100 each on Ebay. I’m pleased with the weight loss, but oh the wasted money 😢
