Clogs? Does anyone wear them?

I'm so tempted by these Penelope Chilvers clogs. Having never worn or been drawn to them before I have no idea if they'll make me look like a flower powered hippie or if they're comfy.

Any thoughts?

I used to love my clogs back in the day. So comfy! I wouldn't think anything, live and let live when it comes to clothes.

Sparkai · 14/06/2021 10:43

I love the look, and am tempted by some Etta from Stockholm ones. But I do worry about them being heavy and difficult to walk in

RacheyCat · 14/06/2021 10:45

I love clogs with bootcut/flared trousers or knit midi skirts. I don't wear them in the summer because it's too hot here, but they're a staple of mine in cooler weather.

KirstenBlest · 14/06/2021 11:23

I'd get a pair of cheap ones and see if you get on with them first.

Those ones look nice. You won't look like a hippy in them.

Floisme · 14/06/2021 11:28

I used to wear them with long skirts and a shawl so I'm probably not the best person to advise on styling them. But I did love them and they were supremely comfortable - unless you needed to run, in which case you were screwed.

iwantavuvezela · 14/06/2021 11:30

I love Swedish Hasbeens

minipie · 14/06/2021 11:31

I have a friend who swears by them but hers have a little rubber section in the sole so that they bend when you walk. I think this makes a huge difference to how comfy they are. Will look up the brand but I think they are mainly available in europe

Wbeezer · 14/06/2021 11:34

I've just got some chunky sandal ones, i find them very comfy for standing and gentle walking but i can't drive in them or run for a bus /go on uneven terrain. However they make me feel tall and slim of ankle so i dont care!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 14/06/2021 11:35

They're lovely 💟

hellswelshy · 14/06/2021 11:54

Used to wear them back when I was in my late teens, in the early 90s. I love them OP, wear them and be proud! Oh and tell us if they are comfy Grin

Whosaidit · 14/06/2021 12:00

I bought some wooden clog sandals a few years ago, and only wore them a few times. Surprise, surprise, it was like walking with a block of wood strapped to my feet. I know that some people love them but I just can’t get on with completely solid hard soles so it’s a def no from me, I just can’t work out how anyone could find them comfy but some do!

TheSaucepanMan · 14/06/2021 13:52

I don't want to be one of these people clopping along when I either go over on my ankle or my foot comes out my clog and I'm still walking. I need shoes that stay on my feet.

OP posts:
Wbeezer · 14/06/2021 14:33

Get some with heel or ankle straps.
Im not allowed to wear mine in the house as everybody else hates the clip clopping sound!

hellswelshy · 14/06/2021 14:37

Ooh that pain when your foot slips half out of your clog, ouch! Yes to a strap above your heel.

AuntMasha · 14/06/2021 14:40

I like Kitty Clogs, Sweden. They have clog sandals, clog shoes and conventional slip-on clogs. They do a lower heel option which are a little easier for everyday wear.

My3cents1 · 21/02/2022 13:42

@AuntMasha. Late to the party. Looking at Kitty clogs can you give me advice about sizing. Thanks

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 21/02/2022 13:48

OMG @TheSaucepanMan I blame you entirely.

I really want those clogs and I didn't know it until you posted the link.

My only worry is I already am a trip hazard and can I be trusted?

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 21/02/2022 13:51

I only wear them for work in the NHS but if you don't have a heel strap you won't get very far without losing a shoe.

TomatoSoup69 · 21/02/2022 16:34

@minipie
Please do let us know what brands do them with a rubber bit! Exactly what I'm looking for!

Itsnotdeep · 21/02/2022 16:42

I have been hankering after these ones since I saw them on an instagram post.

minipie · 21/02/2022 17:05

TomatoSoup my friend’s are Swedish hasbeens. But looking at them online, I can’t see that they have a rubber insert. Not sure where I got that from, sorry?!

I bought some late last year...have yet to try them out due to the winter but looking forward to it.

The bottom is completely wood though so think they will take some getting used to. Love the look though.

I've got these beauties from Sanita. They're comfortable enough (and I usually wear Birkenstocks or trainers so they must be ok).

Clogs? Does anyone wear them?
