Find Me a Frickin Frock

I'm always amazed by how swiftly and well people respond to these threads!
Here's what I'm after:
Context: partner returning home on leave after a long time away. Going out for a good old fashioned 'date night'.
Me: 42. 5ft7/8. Size 6-8. Not really into appearance!
After: dress. Not maxi/midi. Not 'formal' (I'm more relaxed/boho style-wise). Something that can bebworn with flats - can't do heels!
Budget: £50ish. I'm tight.
If anyone can help, I'll be really grateful. I'd like to break my black-jeans-stappy-top look.
Thanks 😊

I've just bought myself a jumpsuit from Forgotten Tribes - I was worried it would be poor quality as relatively cheap, but it' s really nice. I like this dress from them (actually this one even more but it breaks your no midi or maxi rule)

agapanthus1979 · 08/06/2021 21:44

Thanks @Sadik. I do like Forgotten Tribes but definitely after a dress rather than a jump suit.
Not sure the shorter dress is what I'm looking for on this occasion...but might well return to have another look at it!!

Any good? If not have a look at their website, they’ve got some lovely dresses although I confess I haven’t ordered from them before.

nancybotwinbloom · 08/06/2021 22:17

Where are you going? That depends

agapanthus1979 · 09/06/2021 08:01

Thanks everyone.
@nancybotwinbloom drinks and then dinner at a relaxed fine dining place, so I don't want anything too dressy or flounce.

Are you wanting knee length?

nancybotwinbloom · 09/06/2021 19:45

Would you wear a jumpsuit. ASOS have some gorgeous ones st the moment.

PermanentTemporary · 09/06/2021 19:51

This isn't boho but I think possibly Anthropologie have brainwashed me
floral

agapanthus1979 · 09/06/2021 20:19

Hi @Squiz81 yes, knee length would be good
Thanks @nancybotwinbloom but I don't want a jumpsuit
Thanks aswell @PermanentTemporary but that's not my style.
Floaty, boho, paisley....that kind of thing.

This ticks all your boxes and the neckline is a little bit sexy. Comes in a peach colour way too.

This Etsy seller does boho dresses, hard to tell the length, this is probably too far into midi territory

I really like this dress too, but I think your partner would prefer the one above

Love this, but it could be very short. It doesn't specify the models height.

My partner would prefer me with nothing on after three months away @Watchingthetelly Grin
Thanks everyone.
Nothing quite ticks the boxes. I think I might be after one of those elusive blighters.
Thank you though. I really appreciate your time Smile

This is paisley

www.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350227987.aspx?dim1=1#shoppingtool=smartrecospdptop_productpage

It’s viscose though, I avoid it as it makes me sweaty, you might not have my issues though!

agapanthus1979 · 09/06/2021 21:31

I like that most recent one @Watchingthetelly 👍

There’s some beautiful boho dresses at Boden. Hush will also have something, as will Jigsaw.

But budget will be an issue. If you can stretch it you could get an item that will look good for years to come.

CommanderBurnham · 09/06/2021 21:34

It's actually a hard look to do.

Zara have a whole boho vibe going on at the moment.

Have a look on ebay. I feel like you might like some of the Traffic People styles. You can get them a lot cheaper on eBay. I have a feeling you'd be an XS though. Some of the below are S & XS
