Italian bobs?

Does anyone know more about / have an 'Italian' bob hairstyle? I was trying to grow out my hair but I think I prefer myself with shorter hair. I have a wide face so looking for something below the jaw line. Last time I had a blunt bob but found it really liked to flip on the bottom, so thinking about some textured layers so any 'flips' work with it better (they're usually easy to tame with a round brush).

Off to Google what an ‘Italian’ Bob’ looks like,

FlibbertyGiblets · 05/06/2021 12:37

Me as well. Familiar with a French bob...

Ninkanink · 05/06/2021 12:39

I thought it said Italian boobs. Confused

MadisonAvenue · 05/06/2021 12:42

Google has just brought up loads of pictures of Sideshow Bob 😂

🤣

There is a link that mentions it.

Less structured than French bob, shorter at the front, apparently.

Um I don't know whether I'm after Italian boobs Grin... I don't think my hairdresser would help me with those anyway! I think Italian bobs are quite messy, layered bobs, as opposed to the blunt and sleek ones?

You want to look like Sideshow Bob?
With Italian boobs?!

Ninkanink · 05/06/2021 13:14

😆😆

I do like the look of the Italian bob.

Smurftastic · 05/06/2021 13:21

@Maireas tbh it would probably be an improvement on my current look!

@Smurftastic - don't judge me, I had a bit of a Sideshow Bob in the 80s! Now, just a regular straight one! Wink

UhtredRagnarson · 05/06/2021 13:49

I had no idea that’s what that look was called but it’s what I want when I finally get back to my hairdresser so thanks for that OP!!

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 05/06/2021 13:55

ooh, I have that, but a bit shorter - my hair has a curl which starts just above my jaw line which won't do anything but curl outwards, so I just have to go with it. Might investigate some of the styling things those models do though, so thanks *Smurftastic

ifIwerenotanandroid · 05/06/2021 14:04

How do you 'plop' your hair? (Maria, 5th one down)

I think this would work with my hair (thick & wavy when cut shorter, kicks up at the bottom) but I notice some of them look asymmetrical lengths because they curl differently L & R, & mine would do that. Also, the style seems to cover one eye for a few women, & that would drive me nuts.

I love the look on some of those women, not on others.

UhtredRagnarson · 05/06/2021 14:06

Same. Some of them don’t suit it at all.

callmemaybee · 05/06/2021 14:12

To be honest, I don’t get it. The links states it’s a recommended style if you’re tight on time, but the majority of pictures are heavily styled. You’re not going to wake up with your hair like that, or have it look like that after allowing it to dry naturally

MissyB1 · 05/06/2021 14:12

The first picture is my sister's hair exactly! Her hair is just naturally like that. Grrrr....!

The rest just look messy to me I'm afraid.

Serpenta · 05/06/2021 14:13

A cut from the Hair Bros costs £160.

I was Shock

Readyorknot · 05/06/2021 14:18

My daughter has a natural Italian bob (actually more of a scandi bob due to very blonde colour and heritage). I think it would be hard to maintain if you don't naturally have thick wavy hair.

Rina66 · 05/06/2021 15:03

I love this style. There's so many products and tools now to help maintain, I think you'll be fine. I think with regards to flipping up, if you tell your hairdresser they can inwardly graduate the bottom so top hair is ever so slightly longer than underneath hair, not noticeably so, but just enough to act as a barrier.

Smurftastic · 05/06/2021 15:06

Hm my hair is neither thick nor wavy, although it's easy to style. Perhaps it's not a good idea for my hair. What do you think about one of their 90s' bobs? And no, I'm not going to this hairdresser and spending £160 Grin

My hair is similar to that last picture. I love it.
