Italian bobs?

Does anyone know more about / have an 'Italian' bob hairstyle? I was trying to grow out my hair but I think I prefer myself with shorter hair. I have a wide face so looking for something below the jaw line. Last time I had a blunt bob but found it really liked to flip on the bottom, so thinking about some textured layers so any 'flips' work with it better (they're usually easy to tame with a round brush).

@Standrewsschool what's your hair texture? Does it take a lot of styling? I think it looks lovely!

To me, the danger of this style is that it will just look like hair that hasn't been styled, with the kinks going the wrong way.

I have quite thick hair, and am lazy when it comes to hair styling.

Along as I brush it when it’s still damp, it generally looks okay. Obviously if I blow dry it it looks fine. If I leave it dry naturally, it’s a bit hit and Miss.

Having a very good cut makes the difference.

My hair is wavy and will dry naturally into the messier versions of that bob. To get it to look like the more styled versions, I use a dressing gown belt. Takes minutes to put in, but leaves fantastic natural neat waves when you take it out.

Sadly I went to a new hairdresser recently, and despite asking for my usual cut, and taking a photo, she's cut it shorter at the back and long at the front (is it called an undercut?) It looked really dated, so have attended to it myself with a pair of kitchen scissors Grin

This is my hair!
Didn't realise it would be so hated, it suits me and my lifestyle (creative) and I love messy hair so it's a winner for me.

It's very easy to achieve if your hair is naturally textured/wavy.

As much as I love this hairstyle I don't think it'll work with my straight hair... Off to look for something else!

It'll take styling, keep that in mind. None of those bobs got that way because of layers, they got there with a natural wave cultivated and styled well, or a heat curler.

Also it’s the fact that they keep recommending salt spray…which makes your hair look matte and textured

Whereas the photos show reflective, shiny hair which just wouldn’t be possible with salt spray alone

I’ve just had this style of cut and I love it!

I’ve always worn my hair very long in the past so it’s a big change for me. It styles very easily and looks fabulous. I just brush it when it’s damp after washing it. I’ve had a lot of compliments from friends and family.

My hair is grey and not very thick.

I have this hairstyle and didn't realise it was called an Italian bob.

My hair is naturally wavy. I put some Bonacure Repair Rescue cream on after washing it to stop frizz. It's easy to maintain.

I just put it in damp hair and let it dry/dry it, but I guess if you slept with it in, the curls will be more pronounced. My hair is a bit shorter and it gives a beach wave effect.

The second picture is my exact hair

I can blow dry it straight but when left to dry naturally it looks like that but in the second day

I was going to ask about salt spray. My hair has grown out of a short bob just before first lockdown so it is now the longest it has ever been. It is very fine hair but in good condition and a lot of it.I want to get it cut now. I always end up with a simple unlayered bob as I don't spend much time styling , usualy air dry and pushed back from my face. My question is would salt spray do anything for my hair or just make it sticky?
