I do not tan. Naturally pale. Gave up on fake tan years ago as they always streak or patch. So on recommendation I tried Nivea firm gradual Tanner. Used it every day and NO change at all.

I then saw Utan and how amazing that is supposed to be. Yesterday used the tanning serum and the face spray. Supposedly fail proof yet today woken up with it completely uneven, streaks where it looks like I haven’t touched it but I did!! I used a mitt, worked bottom way up. Shaved the day before so that didn’t interfere, my skin is not remotely dry and I moisturise every single day. What is wrong with me?! Have tried SO many fake tans and gradual Tanners. Hate all st tropez, skinny tan seemed the best of them all but still bad! Has anyone been like me and struggled and come across an amazing one???

Garnier summer body without a doubt!! I used to be obsessed with fake tan when I was younger and that’s my go to now

Loserinlove · 09/06/2021 21:23

@Acunningruse interesting.... lovely leg!

I have the st tropez gradual tinted coming tomorrow, I’m going to see what that turns out like...

Isle of paradise makes me look an odd grey colour and some streaks. Not a fan.

Loserinlove · 10/06/2021 19:34

Ok st tropez tinted gradual tan is on.... wonder what I’ll be like in the morning.

The dove one has definitely bought out spots.... really need to find one that doesn’t do that!

How is it op?

MaMelon · 12/06/2021 10:13

I bought the Garnier gradual tan one mentioned on here for a few quid in Bodycare as a result of this thread and it’s brilliant! Gave my legs a quick dry rub with a pair of these cheap exfoliating gloves you get, applied it before bed and now I’ve got a lovely, very light tan. Well worth the £4 and very quick and easy to apply.

Loserinlove · 12/06/2021 16:53

Yeah I’m quite pleased with it. It isn’t dark at all and not ‘natural’ in that it is a bit patchy but definitely the best so far....

OP if the dove gradual tan has not given you much colour that's good! It's a gradual tan after all. Just keep going and it should build over a few days to look natural. Don't slather loads on, just a light layer each day and obv give it plenty of time to absorb before wearing trousers/getting into bed. If possible put it on in the morning and keep your legs bare for the day.

I use Garnier (light), I love it.

Loserinlove · 12/06/2021 20:30

@Whybirdwhy I used it for a week in total I think. I have used the st tropez gradual tan two nights in a row and it’s a better colour already l.

I am very pale and so dont want to go too dark. I also cant be bothered spending ages trying to get it right. The Skinny Tan medium body glow works like a dream for me, I find it really easy to do and you can build it up to the colour that you want.

It has given me the confidence to bare my legs and arms for the first time in summer, and I am nearly 50!

MooChops89 · 12/06/2021 21:44

I swear by Bondi Sands mousse. I also feel like some parts of my body 'take' the tan better than others but it's not so obvious with this one. The mousse is great as it has a guide colour so you can see it going on (and bits you might have missed!) It's a gorgeous natural brown too. I once read about putting talc on areas that skin might touch skin (behind knees, crease of elbow, between boobs) which does help, and actually last time I did a good tan sesh I just put talc everywhere Grin just dries it quicker and stops it transferring I think. Also when it's not boiling at night I wear long sleeves and trousers to bed.

ChrissyPlummer · 12/06/2021 21:58

I feel your pain OP. I have the same problem, there are parts of my body, usually lower leg/shins where it just doesn’t take. I hate the smell of them and how much I spend trying to get ‘the one’. The St Tropez shower one was crap. I spent a good few miserable minutes shivering in my bathroom that had no heating…for the pleasure of a brown streak on my left forearm and nothing anywhere else, despite following the instructions exactly. I use Sally Hansen Airbrush legs now and would like to try the This Works one.

Loserinlove · 13/06/2021 07:38

I don’t understand why some parts tan and others don’t? I treat my whole body exactly the same every day. From what I have noticed is it’s the parts that don’t hit the sun all the time (my belly, thighs etc) so must have something to do with that I don’t know?

Bookmarked this to read during the week, how did you get on OP?

Ive just read the Garnier one on Superdrug site as its on offer and I have wasted so much money over the years looking not to waste as much as before 😂
It says suitable for face and body then in the warnings - do not use on face.
I have never had any success but wfh means I might try again this year, last year had a bit of colour but its currently blowing a gale here and not looking like a bumper heatwave is coming. Im very pale but if I take it slowly and carefully I can get rid of the blue tinge on my legs.

How do you get consistency with the drops if you’re mixing as you go, does a drop more on one leg make a difference?

Jbck · 13/06/2021 11:03

Was convinced Id refreshed thread 😆

Loserinlove · 13/06/2021 12:39

@Jbck I used for two evenings and not last night and still looks the same. I also used it on my face and it looks good there, no marks, natural. I’m going to use tonight and then see

I am so white, my skin is practically translucent and LOVE the Garnier gradual tan in medium. Someone actually commented on my 'nice tanned legs' last week !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MooChops89 · 17/06/2021 22:47

I've just bought the Vita Liberata one, put it on 2 nights ago and I'm impressed so far! It does say to apply up to 3 times in a row and it should last 2-3 weeks!

Loserinlove · 18/06/2021 06:46

@MooChops89 2-3 weeks?!? I’d be surprised, maybe if you don’t wash and don’t exfoliate!? I do like the st a tropez one to be fair but it just isn’t very dark (would be perfect in winter etc) but natural and nice

Another vote for the Garner gradual tan. It definitely works on my whiter than paper legs.

FindingMeno · 18/06/2021 07:26

I have no problem with Palmers and I just slap it on in a very haphazard way.
