Best Birkenstock?

I’m after treating myself to a new pair. I have two pairs of Madrids- white and a patterned red one - I fancy something a bit different but they’re pricey if not quite right.

I like the look of the Madrid big buckle - has anyone tried them? I like a few of the others but I have hideous square feet and am loathe to try something that’ll look shit. I don’t like the ones with a toe post either - uncomfortable.

I’d prefer a slip on due to pure laziness.

Any recommendations?

Oh also - not the season for it, but has anyone tried any of the boots? I’m hankering after a paid for winter time.

I was just coming on to say Madrid are the best but see you are already there!

JackieTheFart · 04/06/2021 23:05

I do love my Madrids tbh, I’d be happy with another pair of those, just thought I’d canvass opinion first!

I'd love a pair of the big buckle. Madrid is my go to. I've tried others, but always end up back with a madrid.

I like the Arizona and Milano ones. I have some Milanos at the moment and they're very comfy.

ShoppingSponsoredByCaffeine · 04/06/2021 23:18

Love the look of the big buckle ones too.

Lexilooo · 05/06/2021 00:18

I have Madrids and some toe post ones. I love the Madrid's. I would really really like some Madrid big buckles but I am also tempted by the mayari

Hidingunderablanket · 05/06/2021 00:22

I like the look of the big buckles but haven’t tried.
Mainly I live in my Mayaris though! For people who struggle with toe posts they are so much thinner and because it’s soft and flat, very comfy. I cannot tolerate a conventional toe post at all. I find I prefer the Mayari over the other styles as they feel more secure on my feet. I can drive, walk all day, playing in the park etc in them which I could never do in other birkis.

JackieTheFart · 05/06/2021 00:37

I like the look of the Mayari actually.

Whoops posted too soon! I wonder if the higher up straps will fit me - I have high arches as well as fat feet!

I only wear Mayari.

Imtoooldforallthis · 05/06/2021 06:40

I like the Sydneys.

northender · 05/06/2021 06:58

Jackie I have 3 pairs of mayaris which my fat feet with a very high instep love, they are really comfortable

luckylavender · 05/06/2021 07:14

Madrid or Boston for me

LunaTheCat · 05/06/2021 07:17

Arizona’s all the way - comfortable, 2 straps give support, slip on and off. Love them.

YourCakesAreShit · 05/06/2021 07:21

Love my Mayaris - I live in them in the summer.

chalkyc2 · 05/06/2021 07:22

Does anyone have the soft footbed version? I find Birkenstock's quite uncomfortable - but no soft footbed in the big buckle Madrids, only more boring styles!

Anotherdayanothernight · 05/06/2021 07:24

I have 2 pairs of the big buckle, the narrow footbed, and they are amazing. Feels a little more supportive than the normal Madrid and I've had a few of those as well

Loubiemoo · 05/06/2021 09:02

I have Arizona (about 4 pairs), Gizeh and Mayari. Mayari are the prettiest.

Madamfrog · 05/06/2021 09:17

Arizona and Boston, always a couple of pairs on the go for the last 40 years 😁

Thunderface · 05/06/2021 09:42

I have wide feet with high insteps and have worn several styles. Mayaris are my favourite. Very comfortable.

JackieTheFart · 05/06/2021 16:52

This is hugely helpful thank you so much! I may even make a spreadsheet to help me decide.

Sorry @chalkyc2 I haven’t tried the soft bed ones.

I bought the Madrid big buckle. They are my first pair of Birkenstocks and I didn't realise they were so wide. I had to set the buckle at it's narrowest setting but they then bit into and messed up my feet. I am trying them out a bit every day or so but I'm not convinced

Ooh really, that’s put me off! I have worn the Madrid for years and love them but my feet are quite small and wonder if the big buckle will be toooo big!
EmmaStone · 05/06/2021 18:36

Arizona for me - I think there is a big buckle version of them as well.

Used to wear Mayari too, lovely and comfortable and less clompy than Arizona.
