Best Birkenstock?

I’m after treating myself to a new pair. I have two pairs of Madrids- white and a patterned red one - I fancy something a bit different but they’re pricey if not quite right.

I like the look of the Madrid big buckle - has anyone tried them? I like a few of the others but I have hideous square feet and am loathe to try something that’ll look shit. I don’t like the ones with a toe post either - uncomfortable.

I’d prefer a slip on due to pure laziness.

Any recommendations?

@hidingunderablanket mine were Piazza I think, which seems to be on sale again! Though the straps look slightly different to mine but they are about 15 years old now so it could just be a design update. They were also the only ones where I sized down so I'm convinced the sizing has also changed in the meantime! I'm trying to resist buying another pair...

I saw someone wearing these and they looked so fabulous, just trying to justify buying them.

Those are lovely!

Arizonas for me!

AnyFucker · 12/06/2021 17:02

Arizona or Mayari only for me

SnuffleBadger · 12/06/2021 17:19

Mayari every time. I literally live in mine in the summer walking miles and chasing the children round.

Like you have wide square feet with short toes and high arches and I have yet to find a more comfortable sandal. I haven't had any issues with birko flor being substandard.

ballroompink · 12/06/2021 19:09

I have wide feet with high arches too and just bought the Mayaris. Wore them all day today including a lot of walking and they were so comfy! I would struggle with the Madrid; I feel like I would step out of them. I do a lot of walking and am tempted by the Sonora style as well.

StCharlotte · 12/06/2021 19:47

Mayaris for me too. I've had about half a dozen pairs over the last decade or so.

I can't do toe posts either and I have the fat feet / high instep combo as well.

StCharlotte · 12/06/2021 19:50

I quite the look of the Yaras too but to be honest they have priced themselves out of my market so to speak. Decent shoes seem so much more expensive recently.

JulesJules · 12/06/2021 20:11

I have wide feet (podiatrist says due to hypermobility)and high instep, love Madrid and Arizona. I also have some Boston (black clogs).Have been wondering about the boots, they are expensive but so few shoes fit my hobbit like feet, I'd buy them if they would fit and be comfortable.

Mayari

Belindabelle · 12/06/2021 20:16

Contemplating a pair of white leather big buckle Madrids. But £90!

I have a red and a silver pair of normal Madrid’s bought in TK Max about 5 years ago for £30. They have been worn to destruction and are now only really fit for the garden.

Loving the look of some of the platform wedge clog type shoes too.
So much for the economy drive. Mind you if I buy them this year when I am not going on holiday I won’t have to buy them next year when I will hopefully have a holiday to pay for too.

CooperLooper · 12/06/2021 20:56

Mayari and Arizona! Love them both

LemonCake79 · 12/06/2021 21:09

This thread has reminded me how much I love birkies. I've dug out my white gizahs off the back of it. They are years old and still going strong.
