What clothes have you bought for the summer?

I'm looking for summer dresses and skirts but not feeling inspired!
Tell me what you've been buying, or looking to buy. Pictures would be great. I need inspiration!

My summer clothes don't get much wear, so they last for years and years. I have ordered some sandals and have bought a denim jacket and some linen trousers. I don't really need anything else.

Evenstar · 03/06/2021 18:01

A couple of tops/long dresses from Wicked Dragon, other than that nothing, still carrying lockdown weight and nowhere to go really www.wickeddragon.co.uk/patchwork-flared-dress-with-sleeves.html#

I don’t need anything but I still buy new clothes. The M&S £25 chinos are ace this year - excellent quality. I like cotton shirts and Seasalt do good ones. I also like linen from Poetry but it’s expensive.

Lan2020 · 03/06/2021 18:17

@RampantIvy I wish I could be like you, I'm always looking at clothes to buy but getting fed up of sending everything back!

@Evenstar I've never heard of wicked dragon. I like the colours of that dress.

@PresentingPercy I ordered some chinos from Mark's, just waiting for them to arrive.

The £25 ones are a great summer weight fabric. I’ve even dressed them up with heels and a silk top. They are super versatile.

RampantIvy · 03/06/2021 18:25

Don't get me wrong. I love clothes shopping, but I prefer to go shopping and see, feel and try clothes on rather than shop online. I just don't have enough wardrobe space for any more clothes, I work from home and rarely go out, so I don't need more clothes.

Lan2020 · 03/06/2021 18:55

@RampantIvy I've literally no wardrobe space at all and I'm fed up.pf being unable to find anything. My aim has been to declutter and spend more on key pieces but it's not going well!

So far I've ordered this cream blazer and polka dot skirt. However, I was looking for more pricey items that will last. I'm debating the Sezane skirt but can't decide. I may get one of the Sosandar dresses too hit can't decide. I also can't decide on the Laredoute outfit. I'm petite and I think the skirt will look bad on me.

Quite like these but I'm undecided on Sosandar. Some of the clothes look quite dated to me

I’m also loving the M&S chinos!

Rina66 · 03/06/2021 19:29

I got these skirts - like magic trousers but skirt version - from kit & kaboodle...in khaki, navy and black

I've also order this from Mango but it's for a wedding and doesn't count!

Oh dear. I liked those dresses Blush

Lan2020 · 03/06/2021 19:44

@RampantIvy I like the above dresses (I think) it's just some of the other items on the website look a bit dated to me. I'm no fashion expert though!

@Rina66 I like the blazer and the top looks nice and comfy for summer.

Sorry but these look like clown clothes!
Rina66 · 03/06/2021 20:09

I'll maybe give you the jumpsuit @whattodo2019, but the rest is a straight stretch skirt, a white camisole top and a tailored suit, I can't make the clown connection there! What have you bought, perhaps you can show me your more serious purchases ?😂😂😂

stealingbeauty · 03/06/2021 20:23

I like those skirts (the Sezanne and the La Redoute ones). If I have any advice it’s that you probably don’t need as many summer clothes as you think you need. If you buy maybe three complete outfits then you might be able to mix and match them with each other. I’ve got a very small summer wardrobe and I always feel as though I have loads to wear.

AnnieSnap · 03/06/2021 21:00

@whattodo2019 Harsh and unnecessary comment! There us a great saying that is very apt here. ‘The fact that you believe something does not make it true’. The clothes posted by @Rina66 are not to your individual taste, but that doesn’t make them ‘clown clothes’! 🙄

PresentingPercy · 03/06/2021 23:09

What you buy really depends on where you might be going and your individual style. I don’t have a glamorous lifestyle and prefer decent casual clothes. But I’m not young! My DDs are into skinny flared bottom jeans or 3/4 ones. Often paired with a shirt or a skinny knit. I’m more into mom jeans and a cashmere pullover!

coogee · 03/06/2021 23:13

Sorry but these look like clown clothes!

Does the Yarwell Skirt have built in trousers?

Rina66 · 03/06/2021 23:23

The Yarwell skirt is just a skirt, no trousers attached! It's really stretchy, made out of the same fabric as magic trousers, I thought it would make a change to long skirts. Not sure why they styled it like that. I thought the skirt was very sensible actually!

RampantIvy · 03/06/2021 23:26

I really like the magic trousers, but they are too short for me. On cold days I want trousers that cover my ankles.

coogee · 03/06/2021 23:30

Their Tori linen skirt doesn't look too bad. It's a pity it's one size. As it is, it would wrap around me about three times.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 03/06/2021 23:50

@Evenstar
That's a lovely dress & I'd not heard of Wicked Dragon either.
I'm tempted by this one

Evenstar · 04/06/2021 00:06

@TracyBeakerSoYeah that was the other one I bought, don’t wash it with anything else though, DH put it in with his pants and PJ’s and the results were colourful 😂

I am really pleased with it though, comfy and a good length to wear as a long top, I am 5’ 8” though so tall.

TortoiseShed · 04/06/2021 00:11

@Rina66, I was eyeing that pink blazer in Mango! I didn't buy it in the end and ordered some other bits which are all going back now as not right, annoyingly. Hope you like the blazer in person. If you can report back that would be amazing also!

I've bought a few bits and bobs op. A ruched sleeve blazer and some jeans from M&S, floral dresses from Sezane and Oliver Bonas, some tops and joggers from ASOS, some black dresses from H&M, a Fossil handbag and another one from Accesorize.

Reading that all together it sounds like a lot Blush. In my defence, I hadn't bought much during lockdown and I love clothes!

Lan2020 · 04/06/2021 09:38

@TortoiseShed which dresses did you buy? I need inspiration ☺️
