Dresses that aren't shapeless sacks?

CornishGem1975 · 28/05/2021 14:10

Is that asking too much?

The current trend for baggy oversized frocks seems to be last forever. I don't like this style, it just doesn't suit me - it makes me look fatter or even worse, pregnant (as it does for most people I think). I don't want to have to wear a belt with everything to pull in the dress, I just want more flattering dresses with nice nipped-in waistlines.

Does such a thing exist now?

M&co have loads, in fact baggy dresses are in the minority

I feel your pain, ordered a load of dresses from next, my kids laughed when I tried them on.

Following!

BanningTheWordNaice · 28/05/2021 14:21

Following as I can’t find any - I look like a Victorian ghost in most of what is currently on sale.

Eyjafjallajokulldottir · 28/05/2021 14:23

M and co are online, not sure what the Hmm face was for.

sourcherie · 28/05/2021 14:31

Boden have some non-shapeless dresses

I think the tend is here for a while, as it's comfortable and fits (if not suits) all shapes.

It will be like skinny jeans. Loads of people convinced they could never wear them and a decade or more on the same people wondering what on earth they'll ever do without them.

Templetreebreeze · 28/05/2021 14:43

Hmm thats the hmm you are an arse face OP not the thinking face 😬
Totally agree with you.
All these god awful huge viscose sack dresses worn with white platform trainers.
Terrible

FaceAcher · 28/05/2021 14:45

I have a few Boden ones which are nice. And a couple from UniQlo.

I go for tighter on the bust but a floatier skirt and I don't suit a bodycon type look!!

Confused Oops. I always use that as 'thinking'.

They're so billowy those big tiered dresses. A strong gust of wind and you'd fly out to sea.

waltzingparrot · 28/05/2021 16:07

Next don't seem to be overly baggy this year. Plenty of dresses with waists.

VinoEsmeralda · 28/05/2021 16:09

Hobbs usually have lots of skater style dresses

RickiTarr · 28/05/2021 16:10

Seasalt has a few waisted styles.

Wizzbangfizz · 28/05/2021 16:39

I've been really impressed with new look of late - in fact I live in fear of it going the same way as so many shops of late

TortoiseShed · 28/05/2021 16:56

I've just recently bought something nipped in at the waist from Sezane and another from &other stories. I love the shapeless sacks too! They all have their place fat days. But I'm hourglass so I do look like the side of a fridge in the shapeless ones, unless I wear a breast binding type sports bra thing.

Completely agree. They’re going to be around for a loooooong time.

I’ve got this in blue, it’s very flattering, I’ve got a tummy

I also think it’s going to be here for a while as they’re able to convince people they still fit into the same size clothes as they did before lockdown!

Where is it from?
ShockOche · 29/05/2021 14:06

I’ve spent a year getting thin and a year and a half staying thin. And all the stuff in the shops now is baggy sacks; hideous. Boils my piss!
