36aa bra?

Pileonsally · 23/05/2021 21:24

My daughter v self conscious about v flat chest. She isn't slim and willowy so can't embrace that look.
Im trying to find 36aa bra thst would make her feel better with a tiny bit of padding.
Tried so many bras but none fit right.
She has 1 calvin klein bra that fits nice.

Anyone else this size? I'll pay whatever to make her happy!

Boux avenue are pretty good quality, they are about 35 quid a bra so hardly cheap and cheerful! But I would suggest them as a place to look for bras as they have a good range of sizes, and are good at fitting

EskSmith · 23/05/2021 22:28

My DD is similar to yours 5'7'' size 12. She measured 31 band size and is now v happy in a 30d. M&S measured her a 38a !?

SamusIsAGirl · 23/05/2021 22:32

I do lift and can do pull-ups - I have a big back so it is perfectly possible to be a smallish woman with a 36 in band.

SamusIsAGirl · 23/05/2021 22:34

Teen bras are no good - they don't have the shoulder depth for me. Mind you I only wear bras for cardio these days - tight vests (the Primark or George ones) do as an everyday solution for me.

Some years ago I was very unwell and lost a lot of weight. I was refitted in a lingerie shop and was a 36 AA. I was shown a bra that had cups that were completely filled with padding. From the outside of the bra it looked like any other lacy bra but looking from the inside the cups were completely flat IYSWIM. I bought the bra. It was very comfortable. I am sorry, I wouldn't be able to remember the brand but they do (or did) exist.

Pileonsally · 23/05/2021 22:35

Thanks everyone. Really helpful and interesting! Im ordering her some different sizes!

If she's 'slim and willowy' there's no way she's a 36!!

dementedpixie · 23/05/2021 22:42

OP says she's not slim and willowy

welshweasel · 23/05/2021 22:49

32C sounds much more sensible. It’s still a pretty small cup but will fit so much better. It’s also an easily available size so she will have loads of choice.

Pileonsally · 23/05/2021 22:49

Out of interest jyst did marks and Spencer way of measuring on their website and it said 36aaa
!!! 3 x A??

Of course there is a bra size 36AA.

They sell loads of 36AA bras in M&S.

I've seen them there myself.
M&S should be your first port of call, OP.

Taikoo · 23/05/2021 22:52

RTT. OP did not say that.

They might exist but doesn't sound like they are the right size for OPs daughter

As an adult who is basically flat, I recommend crop tops! I've spent many hundred of pounds over the years on so many bras, but none of them have fitted well, and lets face it, bras are bloody uncomfortable anyway! I now just wear these:

www.marksandspencer.com/flexifit-crop-top-bralet/p/clp60438341?color=ONYX#intid=prodColourId-60491007

With 'chicken fillets' slipped inside, behind the padding of the cups.

Not sexy, or pretty, or cute, but so much more comfortable and no embarrassing nipple appearances!

TheTeenageYears · 23/05/2021 23:03

I hope you have some joy with what you've ordered @Pileonsally. Bra sizing is so much trial and error but also so difficult to predict. I am tall and slim with a relatively small bust but measure a 32D or E which I do need or the centre of the bra doesn't sit between by boobs properly. I think someone's shape rather than pure measurements plays a huge part in what size is required - both the shape of the person and the bra.

Neolara · 23/05/2021 23:08

For about 20 years M & s measured me as a 36a or 36aa. None of the bras fitted properly and bra buying outings would send me into despair. Then one day I got fitted in John Lewis. They took one look at me and declared me a 32 C. I thought they were joking until I tried that size on and it was a perfect fit. I've never bought another bra in M &S.

welshweasel · 23/05/2021 23:09

M&S are well known for being appalling at bra fitting. They don’t size young girls correctly as they don’t size bras that would fit them if they did!

dementedpixie · 23/05/2021 23:15

They fitted me as 40C but I actually wear a 36GG!

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 23/05/2021 23:18

I thought by now it was common knowledge that M&S was awful at fittings and advised people on the old way of sizing 🤷‍♀️

KittyOSullivanKrauss · 23/05/2021 23:20

I was measured by M&S as a 36aa for years. Thanks to a dear friend who pointed me in the right direction I now wear a 32B. Much better.

baldafrique · 23/05/2021 23:21

Not saying 36aa is the correct size, but some women on here seem incredulous that other women can be literally flat chested.

MilduraS · 23/05/2021 23:22

I tried boob or bust and it got my size completely wrong (I couldn't even close a band size 28 which it gave me). If it turns out it's not right for your DD, try abrathatfits which was more accurate for me (band size 32).

I've had a boob job but I used to be all nipple, no breast tissue. I found that blaconette bras were more flattering and gave the illusion that there was something there other than a big expanse of chest. I also used to buy tops with ruffles or some sort of detail up top to disguise it.

MazDazzle · 23/05/2021 23:24

Tesco and Asda do stretchy, pull on, strappy sports bras. They come in size S-L and have a soft molded cup. They come in packs of 2 and in a range of colours. My DD feels really confident in them. They give her a nice shape in clothes and she feels comfortable getting changed for P-E in them.

QueenPaw · 23/05/2021 23:30

@baldafrique I think it's because AA means no difference, none at all between under and over bust. If you're truly an AA then wearing a bra is pointless because it will just ride straight up the minute you move your arms if you have no breast tissue as it will look like | From the side
Both these women are D+, and even say Keira Knightley would be a B/C or so
Also so many women have been badly fitted by M&S, you see women with bra backs riding up, double boobs, back pain

seven201 · 23/05/2021 23:34

I'm a 36 band, sometimes 38 but 'only' a size 12. I'm only saying that as a lot of people are saying it's not possible. I have big ribs and small boobs (a small B cup nowadays). When I was in sixth form I was a 34AA and they fitted me perfectly. I got mine from M&S but that was many years ago! What about Victoria secret? They seem to be popular with teens.
