Do you find high waisted jeans comfortable?

This last year there’s been a lot of people saying they haven’t been wearing jeans in lockdown as they are ‘so uncomfortable’. Since high waisted styles are pretty much all prevalent these days I assume such people are wearing high waisted jeans. I personally have never been able to wear high waisted jeans, they constrict my stomach and induce painful trapped wind (sorry, tmi). I can only wear low rise (at least two inches below my belly button) but then I find them comfortable to wear all day, including as casual wear at home.

I know high waisted jeans are very popular but am interested in whether that’s because that is what is available and fashionable, or whether people are in fact secretly cursing them?

Love them. Hold tummy in and when I bend over in the park I don't flash my @ss 😂

Try the Next ones. I've 2 pairs for when I justify joggers. I find them really comfortable

I'm gutted next have got rid of the hypercurve, they're the only jeans that have fitted me perfectly

lceniWarrior · 23/05/2021 21:58

I find there feels like there is too much material around your middle.

BrilliantBetty · 23/05/2021 22:00

I have been wearing them for years but only recently realised they make my arse look awful! And are uncomfortable compared to low rise... I tried them for the first time in about 6 years last week and boy they were comfy and shaped my butt nicely.

AnyFucker · 23/05/2021 22:02

I love them as long as I can stay standing up Smile

RampantIvy · 23/05/2021 22:04

Love them. I am tall and have a long torso so high waisted jeans usually just come up to just below my navel. I have a 12" difference between my waist and hips so low rise jeans cut into the widest part of me and are very uncomfortable, plus I am forever hoiking them up.

coogee · 23/05/2021 22:07

I don't know if they are comfortable or not. They look so awful on me me that I've never had a pair on long enough to find out.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 23/05/2021 22:21

I hate them. I've bought several pairs of jeans in the last few months, but have returned them all, because the waist is up to my ribs. I don't mind medium rise, that sit level with my belly button, but high rise just feel like I want to pull them down to sit lower, but that would leave the crotch sagging down. They also make me look fatter around the middle, when I've actually got a pretty flat stomach.

MaudTheInvincible · 23/05/2021 22:27

I'm another who loathes high waisted jeans! I'm busty and short waisted and they really don't suit my shape at all. Low rise are much better for me.

Myphone · 23/05/2021 22:31

For me, they feel like dungarees put on the hell hot tumble dryer setting for 17 hours.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/05/2021 22:34

Pretty much all my jeans are high waisted - I have a small waist but big hips/bum and they are flattering on my shape. But per pp I find them not comfortable for sitting all day WFH. Previously I went to actual work and only wore them at weekends/holidays!

JM10 · 23/05/2021 22:36

I love them. I only buy high waisted jeans, trousers or leggings now. I always found low rise uncomfortable and regular jeans ok, but once I wore high waisted I never went back.

Verbena87 · 23/05/2021 22:36

Prefer them. Low waist jeans make my prolapse fall out but well fitting high waisted ones are great as they sit where I’m narrowest and stay up by matching my body, instead of staying up b by digging into space apparently required for my pelvic organs.

TinaYouFatLard · 23/05/2021 22:39

I love them. The relief of throwing out the low waisted skinnies and replacing them with high waisted taper! Wonderful!

AsCoolAsKimDeal · 23/05/2021 22:40

I hate them. I'm very short waisted so they cut across at my widest point. So uncomfortable.

doadeer · 23/05/2021 22:41

I.love them. I've got a bit of a soft tummy post pregnancy so if I wore low rise it would sit over the top! I wear a crop top or vest with my jeans and they always stay in place perfectly

EnglishRain · 23/05/2021 22:41

I love them. I have a very small waist so they aren't that tight around my middle.

Mumof1andacat · 23/05/2021 23:15

I hate them. I'm 5ft so I have no length to my body so they sit underneath my boobs.

PresentingPercy · 23/05/2021 23:21

Love them! Just bought the wide leg Autograph ones from M&S. Just perfect. I’m tall but not remotely slim!

MaryTheMiddle · 23/05/2021 23:26

I like mid rise the best, but can love with high rise. I would honestly go out in my pants before you would catch me in low rise. No thanks!

MaryTheMiddle · 23/05/2021 23:41

Can live with*

Hidingunderablanket · 23/05/2021 23:48

I love mine! Low rise means overhang. High rise can be bad if the denim isn’t sturdy enough though. I adore my Next 360s but they’ve discontinued them. The contour replacements are far too soft with a tight waist and that means nasty bulge underneath, for me. Also it does depend how much you sit down. On a normal day where I’m busy they’re great, but weekends on the sofa need joggers.
Anything wider than a skinny looks ridiculous on my short legs. I seriously hope to find a replacement soon as mine are wearing out!

Gwenhwyfar · 23/05/2021 23:57

I hate them.
I presume it's because I have a large waist. I probably need to buy a bigger size than for non-high waists.

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 24/05/2021 00:00

Much prefer low rise, there is so much material with high waisted and I think they make everyone look bigger than they are, fortunately you can still get mid rise from River Island which I find a good alternative.

Vicliz24 · 24/05/2021 02:20

I prefer a low rise . I don't really have a waist and they make me look huge when I'm not . I find it much easier to disguise lumps with a low rise and looser top .
