Gym leggings that don't fall down - is there such a thing??

Rebecca75 · 21/05/2021 13:30

I am sick of buying gym leggings that fall down when I jump around.
I can't afford Sweaty Betty prices.
I'm 5ft 10 and a size 10-12 with a mum belly that wobbles around when the leggings either fall down or roll down...horrid!

I used to have a pair of puma ones for years that fit well but they've fallen to pieces and I can't find a similar pair.

Any brands to recommend?

When I buy running tights I always check the have a drawstring tie waist. It's the only way.

TokyoSushi · 21/05/2021 13:34

Watching, I am literally desperate for some of these, the only pair that I have that stay up are a puma pair that I've had since 2005!

M&S high waisted leggings - £12.50 - brilliant

IsletsOfLangerhans · 21/05/2021 13:38

I’ve always had this issue, but recently got a pair of seamless sports tights from H & M. They are amazing, no falling down and nice and supportive around the waist.

PurpleDaisies · 21/05/2021 13:41

If you don’t need a pocket, under armour heat gear tights are really good. Squat proof too. I get mine cheap from sports pursuit. I’ve also had good ones from h and m. Sweaty Betty in the sale are still my favourites.

Under armour compression tights

Lightningrain · 21/05/2021 13:50

Another vote for Under Armour. They’re the only brand of leggings I buy now.

Haudyourwheesht · 21/05/2021 14:04

I have these and they are amazing. I didn't expect much because of the price but I'm thinking about getting another pair.

Sturdy by Design are great, multiple lengths and they all have a drawstring waist to get a really good fit.

randomsabreuse · 21/05/2021 14:29

Another one who likes the Aurique ones from Amazon. Not as nice as the Gymshark Speed ones and starting to show wear at the inner thighs.

Anything with a drawstring waist (especially the loop ones - do a loop type slidy knot) generally works ok but I've got a pair of Gymshark Training leggings without a loop that are ok for gym stuff but not for a longer run.

Still planning to try Sweaty Betty and Nike as rewards for getting target times while there's no races to spend money on.

Sweaty Betty worth the money!

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 21/05/2021 14:35

You can use Klarna ANd pay over 3 months ..

Biking0077 · 21/05/2021 14:36

Element Karbon
and www.rubyfury.co.uk/ do different lengths made to order.

PurpleDaisies · 21/05/2021 14:36

They’re not worth that. Hmm

There are plenty of other options.

Y0YO · 21/05/2021 14:38

M&S Goodmove gym leggings, high waisted but comfy and have a drawstring if needed. I'm not keen on the sheeny-ness but the fit is good and they're only 25. I got some from Tu and they're already falling down.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 21/05/2021 14:41

In my opinion they are worth it and paying in interest free payments is a great option .. I've bought so many over the years and sweaty Betty are a million times better than any I've had ..

PurpleDaisies · 21/05/2021 14:42

It’s an odd thing to be pushing on someone who has specifically said they can’t afford them.

randomsabreuse · 21/05/2021 14:43

According to a friend with a similar build as me (same sport) the Sweaty Betty Power ones are worth it for their durability in the inseam region. I regularly destroy leggings in that location so a pair that last well will be worth it for the reduction in landfill if nothing else!

IntermittentParps · 21/05/2021 14:44

Bara. They're quite reasonable in the sale and they have sales frequently (and multi-buy offers).
Great prints and colours and a lovely deep waistband. They feel so secure.

HermioneWeasley · 21/05/2021 14:46

Joy spel high waisted on Amazon - squat proof

dementedpixie · 21/05/2021 14:46

Matalan are good. Bought some tesco cropped ones last week and they stayed up too

ShowOfHands · 21/05/2021 14:53

I have Under Armour and also basic Tesco and Sainsbury's leggings or tights which stay up and have been well used for years. I run or work out every day.

I have expensive Nike ones which are useless.

TeaAnd0ranges · 21/05/2021 14:54

Rainbows and Sprinkles do fab leggings. Squat proof, stay up, mega soft and comfy and loads of funky designs. I wear mine for running and they dont move but they are also good for lounging around the house. Highly recommend and £25-£30 so pretty good value

TeaAnd0ranges · 21/05/2021 14:55

Forgot to say you do need to size down though

ReviewingTheSituation · 21/05/2021 14:59

My decathlon ones are best for not falling down. The 2 key things to look for are high waist and a drawstring.
The constant need to 'hoik' leggings up during a run is one of the main reasons I run in shorts as much as I possibly can - it has to be really cold for me to wear leggings (and I don't love my legs - I don't care what they look like, my comfort is the most important thing).

I second what someone else said - paying more is no guarantee they'll stay up. I've got a really expensive pair (not SB, but another running brand, I forget which), which are the worst for hoiking. They have a drawstring, but not an especially high waist.
