Does anyone fancy helping me buy something nice to wear?

Because honestly after a year in pyjamas I have no idea where to start even looking..

My husband's business partner is having a garden party at midsummer. I am in the mood to spend some money after the shitstorm of the past twelve months and would like a fantastic outfit for said party. Probably a dress - I actually dream of wearing the Fleabag jumpsuit but my tits say a resounding NO.

Them: Early 40s crowd, creative, all pretty cool.

Me: as above, size 12, 5'8, irritatingly big boobs, great legs.

Thinking maybe a shortish dress with ankle boots?
@HelenHywater those dresses are gorgeous.

Please no one buy those wolf & badger saddles.
Yes I want to buy then both!

Puffalicious · 22/05/2021 09:47

OP I reckon the long sleeved white ones earlier would be fab with gold ankle boots. I have some and they go with everything!

stilllovegeorge · 27/05/2021 17:27

Order the Fleabag jumpsuit. It's not expensive and easy to track down. I bought it for my niece's party in Nov 2019. I had my jacket on most of the night but by the end of it didn't care...now so glad I did!

Debbacat6 · 27/05/2021 17:42

No ankle boots. No
So far out of style now.
Every one wears them
Try a mid length cowboy boot with bare tanned legs. Def No ubiquitous training shows or plimsolls. If you go for shoex
Kitten or block heel are very now

In your OP you said you were a size 12 so even more surprised you are a 38DD - have you ever tried boob or bust way of measuring - a well fitting bra will make your new dress look even more fabulous!
I was just coming to say this! I’m a size 20-22 abs a 38g. Most ladies on boob or bust wouldn’t be over a 32 at size 12!

Watchingthetelly · 27/05/2021 19:14

I like the Reiss dress the most.

Good footwear advice from @Debbacat6

This came up on another thread with GG cups looking for dresses, apparently their clothes have sufficient boob space.

I love it but sadly don’t have the legs so am thinking about the maxi version.

OP if you're wearing a 38DD you are going to be amazed when you try on a well fitting bra!
I'm a busty 12 and wear a 32G and I bet you wear something similar. Have you tried boob and bust (www.booborbust.com/)?

Wearing a proper supportive well fitting bra is going to make your new dress look ten times better.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 27/05/2021 19:27

Some gorgeous dresses on this thread but now I'm just following for the bra intervention Grin

I agree OP that if you're a dress size 12 it's unlikely your under bust measures 38 inches. The right sized bra could well make your boobs look smaller, will certainly make them (and your overall silhouette) better. Do it!

theweebabydonkey · 27/05/2021 19:33

Just gonna add to the 'try boob or bust' chorus. I was convinced I was 36DD for years. Am actually 30HH/32G and it's a revelation!

Pfb12345 · 27/05/2021 20:03

Sorry OP hijacking your thread to ask if those recommending boob or bust have any issue with the back fat you can get coming from under the bra when going from 38 to 32 or whatever? I'm a size 12 waist but would wear a larger top due to boobs.. but my bra is a 38E... I cant imagine wearing a smaller back without all my back fat squishing out... yuck!

Mackymacmacface · 27/05/2021 20:05

My fellow big breasted friend recommended this one but might be too boho for you? www.monsoon.co.uk/artisan-studio-mix-print-tiered-dress-blue-14065561.html

bluebiro · 27/05/2021 20:32

@Pfb12345 Wearing the right size bra and scooping properly (see booborbust guide) will decrease “back fat” appearance. When you go down a back size, you will also need to increase the cup size. With the wrong size bra with too small a cup, not all breast tissue can fit on the cup - some will be to pushed the side and side/back fat is therefore also pushed back. Also, when not all breast can fit in the cup, the band size needs to be bigger to accommodate the tissue that’s not in the cup - which is why the thought of a smaller band seems surprising at first. When you go down a back size and increase the cup size to fit you properly, you scoop from the sides so all breast tissue sits properly in the cups. The firmer, properly fitting band should hold everything in place better too.

I agree with Hollowtalk, high- neck on big boobs gives you a shelf- look.

Menacingvern12 · 28/05/2021 08:20

I love the iris dress I have 30gg breasts and am a size 10-12. I find square necks are flattering with big boobs. I personally like the short dress chunky boots combo.

Squirrelwithaflute · 28/05/2021 09:24

Yeah just chiming in with the boob talk, I'm a size 18 and wear a 34H bra, there's no way op can be a 38 round the back Confused

Pfb12345 · 28/05/2021 09:28

Thanks @bluebiro that's helpful. Will look into it some more!
