Where would you buy functional, funky workout gear?

Got properly back into working out and I want to reward myself with some new workout leggings and crop tops. I'd like some awesome patterns and designs if possible, but also decent quality fabric that holds up. I love the Stella McCartney x Adidas stuff but it's definitely too pricey. Any suggestions?

Ftr I'm petite and have reasonably small bust, so my shape isn't a major consideration. Prefer some nice firm high waisted leggings tho.

Sweaty Betty leggings

bunglebee · 14/05/2021 14:11

Mmm, those are a bit pricey too... I just find it hard to justify dropping £70 on leggings when there are so many perfectly good ones for a fraction of that out there. Are they really worth it?

M&S are pretty good in terms of quality and price and have some colours and patterns. Nothing too exciting mind. I had a thread asking about exercise gear in S&B last year, probably April or May, and there were some suggestions given.

ginoclocksomewhere · 14/05/2021 14:14

I second sweaty Betty!
I bought a pair of their Zero Gravity running leggings (£95?) on Depop for £30! They were brand new, had all the tags attached and were still in the bag :D

RamblingFar · 14/05/2021 14:16

A lot of my friends wear Tikiboo www.tikiboo.co.uk/

ShirleyPhallus · 14/05/2021 14:20

Sweaty Betty all the way

The yoga leggings are incredible

LampLass · 14/05/2021 14:25

Rainbows and sprinkles do lovely funky leggings

CardiCorgi · 14/05/2021 14:27

Lululemon? Expensive if you pay full price, but there are often sales (they call it “we made too much”) and the smallest sizes are often still in stock.
I wanted to hate it as being overpriced and overhyped but I have to admit that the first leggings I bought from them in 2016 are still going strong and I like a lot of the details such as pockets which actually hold a mobile phone, card pockets, thumb holes and cuffins on the tops etc.

newbie202020 · 14/05/2021 14:29

I've always found H&M to be good and inexpensive. Their sports shapewear is great and I think the leggings are actually better than my Lululemon ones which generally haven't lasted that well.

safetyzone · 14/05/2021 14:31

I'm a lululemon girl and for that price range they're the best. Below that I really rate Nike, heard good things about H&M, ASOS and marks and Spencer, not really tried them tho. I'm also petite and have small bust now.

PoTheDog · 14/05/2021 14:31

I keep seeing Lucy Locket Loves leggings all over my Facebook. Some seriously bold prints on there! I haven't bought anything from there myself, so can't vouch for them though.

bunglebee · 14/05/2021 14:32

Love the Tikiboo prints!

I love Tikiboo and Sturdy By Design!

DD is really into her fitness and has recently treated herself (first Satturday job Grin) to some bits from here:

www.beaybl.com/

Really nice quality and fit and they seem to offer discounts quite regularly.

bunglebee · 14/05/2021 14:39

This is why I love S&B. Brill suggestions, thanks.

I do actually have a pair of high waisted leggings I really like from M&S but thought I'd branch out. I'm feeling the crop top thing at the moment and it's also nice not to have anything falling in my face when I'm doing yoga or mat exercises. I also wear workout leggings on work days a lot these days anyway just in case I get time to fit in a run and because they're comfy so they do get decent wear.

After spending a fortune on sweaty Betty and Nike, I bought a pair of Asda ultimate leggings and they are just as good as the pricey brands and cost £20 for the ankle length and £10 for the cropped. They're completely opaque and keep their shape perfectly.

QuentininQuarantino · 14/05/2021 14:41

I really like the gap leggings, I get them on a 50% off day and they are shaping and wicking and have pockets!

savvy7 · 14/05/2021 14:42

There are lots of codes around for Sweaty Betty but you'll still be paying circa £55 - £60 for the leggings. The quality is well worth it though.

lurker101 · 14/05/2021 14:45

Here to second sweaty Betty and lululemon. If you sign up to sweaty betty’s newsletters you get 50% off one item at your birthday which is nice 😊

LaurieFairyCake · 14/05/2021 14:47

Fabletics have some great leggings and crop top sets.
Most of my leggings are from there. They are great quality, nice thick material and wash well. They are a steal if you get the two for £22 initial offer too!
I just can't justify the cost of Sweaty Betty, although I have some leggings from there and they are good, I don't think they are worth the extra cost.
People always complain about Fabletics being a subscription, but I've had no problems remembering to skip each month and only buy something when I want to.

TheWeeDonkey · 14/05/2021 14:53

I've never heard of Tikiboo before, I'm really tempted by the grumpy carebears hoodie

OverTheRubicon · 14/05/2021 14:56

H&M is really good and long lasting for cheaper ones. Otherwise I've found my Lululemon and Sweaty Betty really do end up at pennies per wear - I've got one pair of Lululemons that's nearly a decade old and still looks pretty decent!

bunglebee · 14/05/2021 16:06

Oh, I never thought to look at H&M. The stuff looks nice, but it's all plain and IME their online ordering is shite.

My urge is to wear patterned and clashing crop top and leggings.

idontlikealdi · 14/05/2021 16:10

Fabletics. I cannot fault their leggings just sign up for the offer and remember to skip or cancel.

Don't pay full price for anything.
