Where would you buy functional, funky workout gear?

Got properly back into working out and I want to reward myself with some new workout leggings and crop tops. I'd like some awesome patterns and designs if possible, but also decent quality fabric that holds up. I love the Stella McCartney x Adidas stuff but it's definitely too pricey. Any suggestions?

Ftr I'm petite and have reasonably small bust, so my shape isn't a major consideration. Prefer some nice firm high waisted leggings tho.

Ink n burn. Pricey but good quality and the patterns are loud. They're not my style but some of my running friends LOVE them. Have to be quick though and sign up to newsletters as the popular designs go really quick.

Tikiboo and Lucy locket loves are forever coming up for sale second hand on running groups so I'm going to say maybe the fit isn't the best.

I find that interesting loud/funky patterns and good quality gear are pretty mutually exclusive in my experience.

Some climbing brands do it well though - check out 3rd rock, I love their stuff.

H&M leggings are brilliant, but you sometimes have to wait for nice designs to come up.

devildeepbluesea · 14/05/2021 16:31

Sturdy By Design every day of the week. Great price, regular extra discounts, completely squat proof and amazing designs.
Not to mention brilliant customer service. I have about 30 pairs now.

Fabletics
Gymshark
Sweaty betty
H&m

CMOTDibbler · 14/05/2021 16:36

I can't say I love my Sweaty Betty leggings, and I was disappointed in the printing of the Tikiboo ones I have.
My favourite coloured leggings are from Combat Dollies (and are properly compressive) and Razorstorm

bananamonkey · 14/05/2021 16:38

I have some brightly coloured leggings from H&M but mostly bought in the store. Pink and purple, grey leopard print and black and pink.

Gap are lovely quality and occasionally have funky prints.

Mummydoctor · 14/05/2021 16:38

Another vote for Sweaty Betty. Definitely my faves.

MayflowerMaisie · 14/05/2021 17:27

I’ve been really impressed with all the bits I’ve had from m&s.

Wafflewombat · 14/05/2021 17:30

Love my Razorstorm hoodie. ⚒️ I like Asda leggings, working up to the more expensive ones mentioned here. 😁

These are worth the money. Amazing quality, so soft to wear, and they stay up! Lots in the sale as well

Born Nouli

bunglebee · 14/05/2021 18:04

So many brilliant suggestions. Thanks.

I'm leaning towards an on-sale crop top and leggings from Born Nouli. I like the look of a lot of the Fabletics stuff and could probably remember to opt out but it would be a pain.

If you are petite the sweaty Betty 7/8 length will be perfect. Their high waist are brilliant and there are always promo codes online. I got a pair for £35 in the sale.

Good choice! Sustainable and ethically made as well which is a bonus.
enjoyingscience · 14/05/2021 18:54

Try decathlon - really good value, I’ve never had a see through pair, and they do lots of patterns

TooMinty · 14/05/2021 19:30

Sorry to hijack, but if I wear xs in Sweaty Betty, what Lulemon size will I be? Have been looking at their "we made too much" section!

KatharinaRosalie · 14/05/2021 19:38

try this one, honestly best leggings I've had, and I've tried most brands mentioned on this thread. Not cheap but they do sales and codes on social media. barasportswear.com/

justawoman · 14/05/2021 19:39

I’ve had some good stuff very cheap from Matalan. Never bought any other clothes there, but their workout gear works for me

SparkyBlue · 14/05/2021 19:40

When you say you are petite do you mean shape or height? I'm not even five foot and got fabulous leggings from lacuna recently. They sell petite fit leggings and I actually did a step class this week in them (as opposed to just wearing them around the house lol) and I was very impressed with them and they are a very flattering shape

HermioneWeasley · 14/05/2021 19:46

Joyspel leggings on Amazon are excellent

goose1964 · 14/05/2021 19:54

There are a few loud big name leggings on here www.mandmdirect.com

bunglebee · 14/05/2021 19:55

Both.

I don't really find legging length an issue though since leggings are snug anyway. I suppose it would be nice if they were the right length though rather than wrinkling a bit round the ankles.

My sweaty Betty leggings are still brilliant after 5 years so definitely recommend them

I wear SB S and Lululemon UK8, so must guess would be UK6? (US 2?)
chillychicken · 15/05/2021 07:28

Gymshark but I don’t know if they’ll be pattern clashing enough for you. The quality is good, customer service is fantastic.

Avoid lucy lockets or whatever they’re called. They’re not squat proof and honestly look cheap.

Branleuse · 15/05/2021 07:45

I have got some lucy locket stuff. They have some great prints and they often have some prints half price.

Funky leggings with a cheap black vest top works well for me
