So, DD1s wedding has had to be cancelled. Her youngest brother has tested positive for Covid yesterday and the whole family at her mums has to isolate ( they are all vaccinated and all have previously had Covid) plus a bridesmaid has it and a groomsman ( they are not a couple). It's been a bugger of a day and I am totally exhausted. They had to get British Rail to find maternal grandparents who were on a train from Aberdeen to Bedfordshire and turn them around to go back home. Had to cancel so many things and call so many people! And comfort weeping DD1. And DH is gutted. Who knows when it will happen?

Things are awful up here, I have literally half of my (doubly vaccinated) team off with covid feeling awful, multiple members of staff are isolating due to outbreaks at school. The numbers of infection up here are unreal- worse than ever before. Doubly Vaccinated staff in my hospital are very much still getting symptoms bad enough to render them unfit for work for 1-2 weeks minimum and this variant seems to be extraordinarily transmissible regardless of vaccine status. I honestly can't think more than one day ahead at the moment as it's constant crisis management and we haven't even reached 'freedom day' yet.
Sending love and thoughts to you all for the disappointing situation, it really is a complete shit show and I am so very sorry for all the people who are going to suffer so much over the next few months 😢

I've decided I absolutely totally hate yes that extreme all of my work wear I think I'm going to sell it all and restart with stuff I actually like rather than sale bargains and things I think are okay. I have some customer meetings soon and I'm really struggling to find anything decent to wear!

I'm so sorry to hear about the wedding @Sooverthemill, what a shame. Hope things get less stressful for you @EllaPaella, though it does feel like it's going to get worse before it gets better. We go on holiday tomorrow, DC broke up last Friday and we kept them off school for 3 days before that because so many were already isolating in their schools and we were worried about missing our holiday due to contact with a positive case. We were very lucky that as they're not really little and we're WFH we had the option to do that.

I really like the black dress @Sooverthemill - definite keeper  I bought a black maxi dress in the Boden sale, I don't usually wear much black but I love it. You know when you try something on and just think 'this is me!'

Today - very old dress from phase 8, and vest from primark. I feel a bit like you about work clothes @Sickoffamilydrama - they just all feel a bit blah. I think I need a different shape, clearing out my wardrobe has made me realise what style - of dresses in particular - I really like wearing. I need to go for it and donate the others.

Oh - and @OublietteBravo I loved your jumpsuit the other day

Love that hush dress @Sooverthemill - and it’s got pockets! Sorry to hear about the wedding though, that is just so rubbish for all involved. Love your dress too @PalacePaper. Hot here today in East Central Scotland so got that challenge of something suitable for work but also cool - haven’t decided yet (as not been on camera yet!), so pic to follow!

@Sooverthemill so sorry to hear about your DD. That's just so gutting. Fingers crossed there is a way to rearrange it soon.

DD and her friend with 10yo logic wanted to walk the dogs wearing party dresses this morning. They made me join in though I drew the line at a dress. Black was acceptable.

Can I ask for opinions on these crop wide leg trousers? I’m thinking about what to wear to our office when it reopens. It’s a fairly casual office but they have now said jeans are no longer acceptable, I used to wear (smart) jeans so am looking for alternatives! If you think they are ok, what footwear would you wear? (The office rules also now say no trainers)

they look nice @KiteflyingKat they are probably worried everyone has got to used to casual wear.

I like/ want to power dress it helps me psychologically feel more in charge but also I want to show a bit of personality, I think I need to go and do a trying on session in the next few months and find out what suits me. Pencil skirts are good from the front but highlight my stomach from the side.
Anyway very stylish toilet photo, I'll be getting them to tidy it up tomorrow honestly we seem to be hording stuff in there!

Personally I would wear with sandals - I'm not a massive fan of mid leg crops with trainers but that's just me. I think they are okay with longer ankle grazing crops but I would pair yours with sandals as they are more like culottes. Keep them though as they are lovely.

Love the trousers @KiteflyingKat and they suit the dress code I think.

Waiting for DD1 and fiancé to arrive. They have decided to go to a registry office and get married just the 2 of them and the huge outdoor August party they planned for everyone who couldn’t come to smaller ceremony is now’the wedding’

Congratulations to your DD1 @Sooverthemill. That sounds like a good plan given the circumstances.

We never did get sun yesterday, so I spent most of the day feeling slightly cold. Already sunny today though and looking hot for the weekend.

@KiteflyingKat your culottes are great. I agree that sandals are better than trainers I think.

@Sickoffamilydrama if you have the time I would use a personal stylist ( in a shop not one you pay fir) and they can help you out together a few things you can add to. I did it years ago for a mega promotion and it helped me not worry about my clothes.
