Jeans and sausage thighs. Is there a solution? (Pics)

I'm a size 10 hourglass. Jeans have always been the hardest thing for me to purchase. I usually wear dresses because of this. Very small waist. Chunky bum and thighs with a squishy mum tum, so finding jeans is a huge struggle. My main issue with jeans is that they all cut into my thighs and leave me with these horrid creases under the bum that make my thighs look like a stuffed sausage. I've tried on several pairs of jeans with friends around and they all say they look fine and that you don't notice the creases but it's really bothers me. The only pair that haven't done this are my skinnies from Next, but I'm trying to move away from skinnies. I've currently got 4-5 pairs of jeans at home with tags on and they're all doing this. WHY!?! Am I destined to have chunky thigh creases forever or can something be done? The jeans also always seem to bunch behind the knee. I don't know if this is because I'm short?

In this pic (same jeans) the jeans are miles too long so I'm wearing a wedge shoe on the right foot and no shoe on the left which is why the difference between the right and left sides.

I find that a loser fitting jean like a mom jean makes my ass and thighs look even bigger, and that I need the lifting and shaping of a jean with a bit of stretch in it that's more fitted in the bum area.

Wearing jeans that are too long won't help! You need to only look at petite sizes if you're short. High waist might help.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 12/05/2021 22:20

Thank you. They are higher waisted. I also have 2 pairs of petite that do the same thing. In the case of the ones that are too long, I would get them hemmed to a suitable length if I ever chose to keep them.

That being said, where can I find good petite jeans?

Maybe try the next size up? I would get what you're experienceing with a smaller size, the next size up helps me. I feel your pain, jeans are a nightmare to get right.

Thanks. If I get the next size up they're gigantic in the waist 😕

I think I've lost so much weight and there is no muscle tone that they're just squishy and horrible. I would probably benefit from a thigh lift, but I can't afford it and don't want the scars 🤦🏼‍♀️

Could it be that they are a thinner style of denim? Some cheaper styles have quite a high percentage of polyester and seem thinner to me and more prone to wrinkling. Perhaps you could try a style that is closer to 100% cotton which might be thicker?

Verbena87 · 12/05/2021 22:33

Men’s rigid denim 501s don’t do this, and don’t tend to make thighs look big, but they’re definitely not fitted and more mum-jean-ish.

You could size up and then get a wedge taken out of the centre back seam to bring the waist in - an alterations place would do it or you can Google a tutorial if you sew.

ChubbyLittleManInACampervan · 12/05/2021 22:43

I would buy a size up

Jeans sometimes do this to me, and a size up sorts it

I prefer my clothes to “hang” rather than “sit” or cling

I can fit a 12, but often buy a 14 or even 16 Grin

Divebar2021 · 12/05/2021 22:55

I think you need a department store or a denim specialist and get the staff to bring you a gazillion pairs in your size. Selfridges used to do a made to measure service pre Covid. Alternatively size up and get a seamstress to alter the waist. Having alterations makes a big difference to the overall chic-ness of a look.

allycat4 · 12/05/2021 22:55

We have exactly the same figure. You need a size up from those jeans. They will be a bit bigger on the waist but it's the only way to get a reasonable fit all over. I feel your pain!

Josette77 · 12/05/2021 22:58

Size up and get them altered in the waist or wear a belt. They will better and be more comfortable!

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 12/05/2021 23:07

Thanks all. I've ordered the next size up. So frustrating. I just feel huge. Had to order a 32w 😢 I have 10lbs left to lose before I get back to my goal weight which would take me down to where I was a year and a half ago and was wearing a size 8, but then having to buy such big jeans in comparison. Need to get back to the gym and go on lots of long walks to tone up my thighs a bit

Do you want them tight? I'd try girlfriend or boyfriend cut jeans with lots of give in them.

lydia2021 · 12/05/2021 23:11

Rock and fit.

I'm actually really small. I get told this regularly. But boyfriend and mom styles make me look huge with a really big thighs and a saggy bum. They look great on others but I really can't stand the look on me

Try searching for high waisted wide leg jeans? A pair that is slim on the hips but falls from there rather than widening lower down.

I'm actually really small.

As in short? I agree that mom jeans can be really unflattering. I have a similar issue with a small waist in comparison to hips. I’ve mainly made peace with wearing a belt and buying a size up.

Victoria1083 · 13/05/2021 00:46

I just think those jeans are not right for you for whatever reason. I have a similar problem with a lot of styles where the jeans bunch up on the backs of my knees. This usually happens with most straight styles and funny enough more expensive jeans with less stretch in them are the worst offenders! I’m quite short, too. This is why I’m just sticking with skinnies and Gap and Zara mom jeans for the foreseeable. They might not be the height of fashion but they work for my body shape and fit well.

Exactly what I was going to say.
silentpool · 13/05/2021 02:19

I agree. Size up to cater for your bottom, tailor to deal with waist size etc. Plus high waist deals with tummy quite nicely Grin. That's what I do.

MinnieJackson · 13/05/2021 07:08

Maybe a thick decent pair of 'jegging' type trouser? They look a little tight on the thigh but baggy towards your knees.

I'm the same shape too. Size up and wear a belt, or get them altered to take in the waist. It's a nightmare buying jeans so I feel your pain! I have tried every style/ size I can find but nothing works other than wearing a belt.

Try ASOS hourglass jeans

WankmasterBastardDeLaShithead · 13/05/2021 07:28

For what it's worth, I think you have a perfectly lovely looking derrière, thigh creases and all. Very shapely.

Docsmix · 13/05/2021 08:57

I misread that as Jesus and sausage thighs.

I'll leave you be. I just clicked to see if it was true.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/05/2021 09:42

I think you need to either spend more or find thicker, less stretchy denim. Step away from the skinnies as they are often thin fabric with a high % of elastane.

I am a similar shape (small waist, untoned, saddlebags) and the jeans I currently wear are straight leg. I like H&M Vintage Slim and I also have some Asos high waist straight leg ones. When skinnies were in I would buy designer ones, but I find that with the less stretchy styles you can get away with high street denim. But be fussy - you want thick, stiff fabric.
