Jeans and sausage thighs. Is there a solution? (Pics)

I'm a size 10 hourglass. Jeans have always been the hardest thing for me to purchase. I usually wear dresses because of this. Very small waist. Chunky bum and thighs with a squishy mum tum, so finding jeans is a huge struggle. My main issue with jeans is that they all cut into my thighs and leave me with these horrid creases under the bum that make my thighs look like a stuffed sausage. I've tried on several pairs of jeans with friends around and they all say they look fine and that you don't notice the creases but it's really bothers me. The only pair that haven't done this are my skinnies from Next, but I'm trying to move away from skinnies. I've currently got 4-5 pairs of jeans at home with tags on and they're all doing this. WHY!?! Am I destined to have chunky thigh creases forever or can something be done? The jeans also always seem to bunch behind the knee. I don't know if this is because I'm short?

In this pic (same jeans) the jeans are miles too long so I'm wearing a wedge shoe on the right foot and no shoe on the left which is why the difference between the right and left sides.

I find that a loser fitting jean like a mom jean makes my ass and thighs look even bigger, and that I need the lifting and shaping of a jean with a bit of stretch in it that's more fitted in the bum area.

My advice is to stick with your old skinny jeans from Next that work for you. I know other styles of jeans are being heavily marketed as "on trend" e.g. flares, bootcut, mom jeans etc but it appears they just don't suit your figure. Ill certainly be sticking with my trusty skinny jeans! Those jeans look extremely uncomfortable..

Embrace your hour glass figure with clothes you feel amazing in. Losing weight doesn't necessarily change your basic body shape so go with what has always suited you.
And Congratulations on your weight loss Smile

SmileyClare · 13/05/2021 09:46

Try men's thick rigid denim jeans Really? Sounds uncomfortable and unflattering for an hour glass shape

AnyFucker · 13/05/2021 09:50

Less stretchy, more expensive jeans will sort that

4PawsGood · 13/05/2021 09:53

I agree about sizing up and wearing a belt. You need to accommodate the largest part of you (proportionallly).

Duvetflower · 13/05/2021 10:06

You need jeans that are cut for a bigger bum. It looks like there isn't enough fabric for your bum so it's stealing some from your thighs. If you turn one trouser leg inside out and stuff the other (right way round) leg inside you'll be able to see the shape of the crotch seam. For a bigger bum you want this longer and more curved.

WatchingPaintWet · 13/05/2021 10:33

OP, I just wanted to say that I relate so much to this and am watching suggestions with interest!!

Buckydoesafart · 13/05/2021 10:36

I have the same issue, I find the high waists don't really work on me as I'm all legs and arms with a short torso and end up with excess material around the crotch and the creases on the thighs. Try mid-waist jeans in a size up and as someone said above don't go for ones that have too much polyester in them. I then have my professionally altered if needed to make the legs and waist fit better. Also Levis used to do a curve range - don't think they do that anymore but you mind find some on amazon or eBay as they were quite good.

Baypony · 13/05/2021 10:45

Hi OP. I have a similar problem and find Hollister mens skinny jeans fit just right. I have very large thighs (years of cycling and horse riding) and am a 10-12 at the mo, 5’2” The jeans look great on me and they come in waist and length sizes too so you don’t need to take them up. I’m in a 31x30 in their measurements, but when I get back to my pre baby size i’ll be in a 30x30.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/05/2021 11:51

I'm 5ft 6 and a size 10 - big bum and hips, but small-ish waist. I find the best cuts for me are balloon/barrel legs, with a high waist. I also spend more than I would ideally like to on jeans and trousers, because I find cheaper things on my lower half really don't work.

I buy jeans from Whistles, Cos, and Levi's, where they are sized by waist rather than eg 10/12/14. A 27" waist tends to be right on me, or sometimes 28, but I agree with pp that taking them into a tailor can be a good solution.

Thanks everyone. Will take all the comments on board. I've ordered a few more pairs and styles to try. (I hate online shopping for jeans!!) I've got a good pair of wide legs similar to a pic someone posted earlier, but want something a bit leaner looking.

It's just very disheartening when I've worked so hard over the years to get down to a size 8/10 in clothing and have to wear 8/XS dresses only to have to buy 30-32 waist jeans. Everyone tells me I'm tiny and I have nothing left to lose on me (including a plastic surgeon who I went to for a TT consultation). I've watched loads of YT videos on trying to find the right jeans for me and follow people on IG who look the same size as me and they're recommending & wearing size 26-29. Just makes me feel so fat 😕

Size up and wear a belt, or have you tried Levi Curve if they still do them.

My issue has always been a gaping waist to get over my thighs unless they are so elasticated they are not jeans anymore.

I find that people get really hung up on the number on their clothes labels.

I have known people buy clothes that are obviously too small for them because they can squeeze into them and it says a certain number on the label, and they don't want the label to say a bigger number. Why? They go around looking ridiculous in too-tight clothes (which I think actually make people look fatter than something flattering that actually fits).

So yeah - just buy what fits you! No one knows what your label says and 30/32 isn't exactly obese.

PurpleDaisies · 13/05/2021 12:18

If your waist is actually 32in, that is considered to be a problem by the NHS. Buying clothes to fit your figure with a smaller waist is a different situation though.

Asos do a range for hourglass figures!

Try the size up with a belt for your waist. Honestly it doesn't matter what size your clothes are, as long as they fit how you want them too. People are seeing your body in the clothes, they're not seeing a size in a tag. Measurement wise I'm a size 8, however I don't like things to be too fitted and often go for a skimming looser look, meaning I buy 10's, 12's and 14's sometimes too. DP was trying to sneakily figure out my size to order something the other day, he went through my wardrobe and had no clue as there's such a vast selection of sizes in there and had to ask me!

BikeRunSki · 13/05/2021 13:11

@AnyFucker

Yes

Less stretch may mean a larger size. Also, probably more expensive jeans as the cotton content and increased tailoring of having less stretch is expensive. Have a look at Hiut or Howies.

SunnySideDownBriefly · 13/05/2021 14:15

A word of warning (in case you weren't aware): 'Toning up' your thighs/legs will make them bigger if you don't lose fat off them first. You can't burn fat in a specific place and working the muscles will make them grow which, together, could increase your thigh volume. Although if you exercise enough then those extra calories burned could push you into a further deficit which will mean more fat loss - but not necessarily from your legs.

A further word of warning: I'm a size 6 and workout every day but I still get a little squinch there in jeans. The body holds on to fat in the most annoying places so accept it might always be something you experience in tight jeans...but hopefully to a lesser degree.

Yes! I’ve got a pair in the flared type. I’m a small hourglass - they work really well. I posted a picture the other day - not sure on what thread? I will see if l still have it on my phone? It’s not the most flattering ,but you know… 😉
withlotsoflove · 13/05/2021 14:21

@WineGetsMeThroughIt
These are from the hourglass range at ASOS.

CoffeeandCakeEqualsLove · 13/05/2021 15:02

Size up and get the waist taken in. (It also forces you to stop thinking about the number on the label as you're getting them adapted to fit you properly)

Ninkanink · 13/05/2021 15:07

Buy petite so the proportions are right. Size up so they fit nicely on your chunkier area(s), then have them altered to fit your waist exactly right. They’ll sit perfectly on you and will look miles better. The money for alterations will be well worth it.

isthismylifenow · 13/05/2021 15:13

You have a lovely bum OP.

I can't recommend and jeans as not in UK, but my go to are Old Navy.

Levi's look nice but every pair leaves that gape at the back of waist as I also suffer with hollow back.

OverTheRubicon · 13/05/2021 15:16

Everlane Curvy Cheeky jeans are amazing. Designed for people with thicker thighs and bum and a little waist. I'm an 8-10 but a similar shape to you and love them.

Triffid1 · 13/05/2021 15:16

Agree with the recommendations to size up and get tailored if necessary. I'd also suggest the kind of wide leg that flare from the hip rather than the knee.

But, contentious suggestion, I'd also say that perhaps jeans are not the ideal thing for you? By definition, jeans tend to emphasise the butt and thigh so if those are the part of you that you want to de-emphasise, it may be that you have to make tough decisions about the type of jeans you buy or whether you buy them at all?

tigerbreadandtea · 13/05/2021 15:51

I have found river island and marks and spender best for high waist petite jeans
