Clothing shops for 30 plus year olds

I don't even know where to shop anymore but desperately need some new clothes!

I used to shop at H&m, Topshop, Warehouse, New Look and Miss Selfridge. Half of these shops don't exist anymore, but if they do, I don't like the fashion!

I just want some nice basic, but good quality fabric, clothes that will last wash after wash. Fabrics that won't go bobbly or fade after 10 washes!

I think I am looking to go a bit more upmarket compared to New Look now that I am in my 30's, but don't want to spend ridiculous amounts! Where do you shop online for clothes?

Following. I am all at sea at the moment too.

I've started buying secondhand but better brands than I could afford new - Mint Velvet, Whistles, Seasalt, Jigsaw, Boden. I am lucky to have good charity shops round here though, and have just signed up to Vinted too.

For basics though I find M&S wash well and have good fabric.

Slightly cheaper alternatives - H&M for high street (if you go into one of the larger stores for a good rummage it’s definitely not all teenage stuff!), Uniqlo, la redoute

I agree with all the past posters and have pieces from a fair few of those brands. I’m also throwing Next and John Lewis in the hat.

H&M have some good stuff in their premium selection and their linen can be nice. Monki do gorgeous organic cotton t shirts that wash well. Uniqlo sizing can be odd but they have some lovely basics.

Hobbs for me, because they do some decent fabrics and they make clothes my shape (tall and lean). Quite expensive though.

Ha, I've just started a thread on a similar topic...have to second Uniqlo and La reroute. Also Jaeger but always on sale as too £££ otherwise. Mint Velvet has been hit and miss for me, some Whistles stuff went bubbly straight away, same with some of the Boden shirts and dresses. So it's all just pot luck really

I’m currently mourning the loss of Debenhams and Dorothy Perkins, they were my go-tos. I’m over 40 and a size 18, but finding that Joules and Next are my current go-tos. Marks and Spencer’s are pretty good too, and I got some nice Bodensee PJs but they are pricey. Maybe need to get a second price clothes habit....

Cos, Zara, & Other Stories, Boden, LK Bennet, Mint Velvet, Jaeger, Hush, Joules, some good stuff on ASOS but you need to hunt around for it online.

Are Jaeger still going? Other than in M&S? Their shop has closed near me?

Fat face and seasalt are good for basics, but lots of their stuff is a bit frumpy imho

You are right Jaeger are now just at M&S and only full price. Such good quality though. Also Joules is really good and are always on sale
