Clothing shops for 30 plus year olds

I don't even know where to shop anymore but desperately need some new clothes!

I used to shop at H&m, Topshop, Warehouse, New Look and Miss Selfridge. Half of these shops don't exist anymore, but if they do, I don't like the fashion!

I just want some nice basic, but good quality fabric, clothes that will last wash after wash. Fabrics that won't go bobbly or fade after 10 washes!

I think I am looking to go a bit more upmarket compared to New Look now that I am in my 30's, but don't want to spend ridiculous amounts! Where do you shop online for clothes?

& Other Stories
Arket
Anthropologie (not so much for basics)
Zara
Mango
Sezane
Aligne
Uniqlo

I also like a rummage in TKmaxx for brands like Majestic Filatures, Kew (sometimes), Axara, Rachel Zoe, Maje, Sandro etc.

Yes to PP who mentioned Toast, I only have two dresses that I found in charity shops but the quality is beautiful! I can't afford it full price, good for a treat though if lucky enough to find it second hand.

H and M do loads of nice linen and cotton TShirts. They also do a premium range with proper fabrics - wool, cashmere, cotton, silk etc. Jeans are good too.

TBH I don’t really shop anywhere else and get most of my wardrobe there! Free online delivery and returns if you are a member.

beguilingeyes · 11/05/2021 14:55

Ebay! I get most of my clothes there now. Better quality stuff at bargain prices. I just look for brands I like. I like Phase Eight, Jigsaw, Hobbs.

Have a look at LUX FIX
www.lux-fix.com
They stock lots of smaller brands

@covetingthepreciousthings
Toast do have good sales. Christmas present maybe ? (After Christmas?). I’m too mean to pay full price. I love their wool coats.

If anyone has a local Scope charity shop it's worth checking out their rails every so often, I think they must have a deal with Boden to get their overstocks as last time I went in a local one they had two rails full of BNWT Boden - shirts, dresses & tunics!

Massimo Dutti are Zara. Arket, Cos and &OtherStories are H&M but better!

Brakeburn

As far as I'm aware all of those brands are still available online. Miss selfridge and Topshop are now owned by ASOS.

I think it depends more on your style and budget rather than age. I'm 33, don't consider this at all old and dress and shop the same way as I did in my late twenties (although granted I am a boring/plain dresser and stick to a fairly classic style)

I shop at ASOS, H&M, Zara, Mango, Sezane &otherstories mainly, in that order, and have quite a few bits from primark that I get a lot of wear out of too, although I've not been in there in a while during the pandemic.

Littleguggi · 12/05/2021 19:47

@dontgobaconmyheart totally agree with your point, it really does depend on your style and budget! I am 33 too and starting to think about quality and how long clothing will last, as opposed to going for fast fashion. I am also more drawn to classic styles now compared to when I was in my 20s. I just put that down to my age, but agree it could be down to other factors also.

I am loving the clothes on Mango, I totally forgot about that shop, I remember buying stuff from there years ago!! Put a load of stuff in my basket but haven't placed an order yet 🙈

My DD1 is a fairly high earner and she’s more into classic fashion and quality fabrics now at 28. It’s all about being able to sell clothes on to other discerning buyers if you want a change and not throwing clothes away.

There’s also quite a big movement seeking out the best high end copies.

Snally82 · 13/05/2021 19:22

Mango
Zara
Reiss
Oliver Bonas
& Other Stories
Reiss
H&M
Some brands at ASOS

mintessa · 13/05/2021 19:40

Another vote for H&M's premium range. Lovely fabrics, good shapes and colours.
