Where can I get clothes for 14yo DS?

He's 5'7", super skinny. Too tall for kids clothes which seem to stop at age 13 anyway, and would drown in men's clothes.

He doesn't like anything branded and doesn't wear sportswear (eg joggers, anything football related, Nike sweat shirts etc).

Am after reasonable quality basics, preferably not just back or navy for shirts.

M&S do boys clothes up to aged 18, although that may be mostly uniform!

DinosaurDiana · 08/05/2021 12:47

Has he tried looking for clothes himself ?
Perhaps if he could see the problem he wouldn’t be so picky.
My DS is very slim so we get, and he buys himself, skinny joggers and slim fit T-shirt’s/ tops/hoodies.

catsarebetterthandogs9 · 08/05/2021 13:00

Agree with M&S. DS is a bit younger but we get most of his clothes from there, he's the same with brands. Quality is excellent, he particularly likes The Jones jeans.

LoveSleeping · 08/05/2021 13:05

Agree with taking him shopping so he can choose.

DS is super slim and used to find H&M or primark stuff fitted him quite well. He now goes to Sports Direct and gets plain skinny fit joggers like Adidas, Nike, but not the overly logoed ones.

zizl · 08/05/2021 13:05

My son is younger but I find Next clothes fit well whereas other shops are too big at the waist. I'm sure they sell up to age 16.

jay55 · 08/05/2021 13:12

Uniqlo?

whattodo2019 · 08/05/2021 13:13

My 131/2 yr old DS gets his clothes from
Sports direct
Crew Clothing
ebay- Ralph Lauren size small. There is lots!!!
Holister
Fat face
Tommy Hilfiger
Jack Wills
North Face

It's worth trying ebay and depop for the expensive brands. we have been v successful!

MelissaVonStressel · 08/05/2021 13:34

ASOS do XS or XXS sizing.

sadfanny · 08/05/2021 13:43

We have the same problem. H&M is our go to. Sometimes men's size S fits depending on brand.

Tweetypietwo · 08/05/2021 18:09

Pull&Bear
Bershka
Asos
Hollister
Weekday

Velveteenchair · 08/05/2021 18:13

Zara
H&M
Superdry.

polkadotpjs · 08/05/2021 18:16

XS from Primark might be ok. Or maybe H and M like others have said
My 14 year old has suddenly bulked up but was good on XS men from Primark

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/05/2021 18:43

Skinny 21yo DS ( not into brands /labels )

H&M for jeans
Sport Direct for footwear

I buy him tops/TShirts from H&M or Primark
I bought him a couple of hoodies with zipped pockets (not kangaroo ) for his valuables .

Trespass black plain waterproof zip up coat with the essential zip pockets for if he has to look "tidy"

CMOTDibbler · 08/05/2021 18:50

Next do up to 16 online, or mens xxs. Primark mens xs is pretty small as well - I just let DS loose in Primark for basics, although at 14 he is now 6'3 which is a bit more tricky for trousers so I order from Next for those as they do a long fit

Quitelikeacatslife · 08/05/2021 18:51

My DS 13 is skinny and about 5"7 I now shop in men's dept for him S or XS. Top man really good for jeans and quality stuff, Next ok for basics , TK max is good, on line ASOS
Boden do up to 16 and good for a younger look (when offers are on)

BeaLola · 08/05/2021 18:53

My DS 13 likes Shopping himself - he buys from Primark , Jack Wills, Puma & Adidas from outlet or M&M ,

I buy things from all of those for him plus Superdru and H&M

newnortherner111 · 08/05/2021 19:19

Hope others have helped. I was pleased to read that your DS is not a fashion victim and has some concept of style.

RockaLock · 08/05/2021 20:03

OP, I have the same problem with my skinny 14yo DS.

I was recently recommended men's jeans from River Island on here - and they have been good. They go down to a 26" waist, and have different leg lengths you can chose from. DS still needs a belt but they are a decent fit on him.

He mostly gets all his T-shirts and hoodies from uniqlo - men's small (possibly xs?) seem fine (don't bother with their men's jeans though - the smallest size is still waaay too big for DS!)

BowserJr · 08/05/2021 20:08

Next do up to age 16. Their girls age 16 equates to about a size 10/12 so I think he would be OK with the boys.

I'd try places like Superdry and Jack Wills that are 'preppy' and geared at teenagers so cut smaller. H&M and Primark are worth a try too.

BrieAndChilli · 08/05/2021 20:08

DS is 14 but super skinny but tall. I have always found H&M good, have just bought him a load of stuff from there and fits quite well. New look have also just started boys range.

Soozikinzi · 08/05/2021 20:09

M and m online are good for boys stuff

itsgettingwierd · 08/05/2021 20:09

We used next slim fit or h and m.

EllaPaella · 08/05/2021 20:32

My eldest is 19 now but at 14 he was wearing H&M, anything Nike, Hollister, Jack Wills.

wizzywig · 08/05/2021 20:33

Mango?

Miseryisabutterfly · 08/05/2021 20:35

I’m sure he’d fit into a men’s xs? My very tall 7 year old just about does (he’s usually in boys 11-12).
