Woman’s Rucksack for SAHM

HannahS99 · 06/05/2021 14:15

I’m looking for a rucksack that I can use everyday, something stylish/pretty but needs to hold toddlers clothes/snacks and all the general kids stuff my older kids want to bring on a day out like picnic lunch etc.

Oh and maybe a small pocket for my own cards/keys!

What’s a good bag for an almost 40 year old SAHM? Thanks

Should say we are definitely past the changing bag stage so looking for more of a rucksack (but don’t want to look like a teenager!)

Budget £50ish or less

I use this.

Didn’t see your budget. They’re a bit more than that

loverloverlover · 06/05/2021 14:19

I've got a kanken like above, it's great! But I actually prefer sleep no more backpacks. The prints are cool and they have more pockets whereas I find my kanken is just a sack full of crap basically.

doadeer · 06/05/2021 14:20

Sweaty betty do some nice ones

loverloverlover · 06/05/2021 14:21

I don't know how to add a picture but they have 20% off today so a decent backpack would be less than £30! I've got the zebra and dinosaur ones and love them

LolaSmiles · 06/05/2021 14:22

Patagonia Abour are nice rucksacks. If you see them on sale then they might come in just above £50.

lakesidelife · 06/05/2021 15:43

I use Kipling rucksacks quite a bit.
They wear well and have a decent range of styles and finishes.

lakesidelife · 06/05/2021 15:44

(You would need to buy a sale one for your budget but they do a fair few sales)

StCharlotte · 06/05/2021 15:51

If you search "reisenthel backpack" on Amazon that brings up a nice range. I have a couple of their shoppers and they're really good quality and not expensive.

maslinpan · 06/05/2021 15:54

Nicky James rucksacks are really well made and practical.

Wegobshite · 06/05/2021 16:03

Mia Tui do a range of rucksacks that are under £50
They are great as they all have individual pockets and compartments for all of your stuff
They have 20 percent off at the moment
They have a online video so you can see what they are like inside
And if it’s important they are vegan friendly
The normal bags that they do probably the Jenny style would be perfect for fitting everything in and not loosing it

Itsmemaggie · 06/05/2021 16:05

I have one from this brand rokalondon.com/ they have a good range of styles and I’m really happy with both style and quality.

Wegobshite · 06/05/2021 16:05

miatui.com/collections/mia-tui-bags/products/sydney-backpack-multiple-colours
It looks small but because of the way they design them you have loads of space

Mooncats · 06/05/2021 16:50

I have this and love it

Do the Mia Tui PR people live on this site? It's so obvious.

Wegobshite · 06/05/2021 17:48

@ RainedOn
If that post was at me feel free to check with MNHQ I’ve been on this site for years probably 2014 maybe longer than that I name change every so often like many do but I’m sure they they could confirm that I’m nothing to do with them .

I don’t work for Mia Tui but I do have a few of their bags along with numerous other bags .
OP asked for a rucksack around for £50 one that was suitable for taking lots of stuff for kids and a few of her own bits and pieces .
So I gave her a recommendation for one it fits within her price range and might be suitable as I have a few of them .
But If I did work for Mia Tui I would be a damm site better at PR 😂

I had a lovely Fiorelli tan backpack and I loved it. They are pretty reasonable prices especially in the sale.

HannahS99 · 06/05/2021 19:06

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone I’m going to have a good look through them all when the kids are in bed. Most of these brands I’ve not heard of so this is really helpful (shows how out of touch I am, I’ve pretty much only had a changing bag for day to day stuff for the past 8 years Confused)

I’ve got a lovely Liberty print Eastpak. It was on sale, and with a code came in at £23.

Cailleach1 · 06/05/2021 20:43

The fjallraven kanken is nice because it has two handled each side of the zipper, so you can carry it like a shopper when you have it off your back. It is dear and that is because of hype as it was meant to be cheap and cheerful. However, you may get reasonable value in sales. Downside is that the straps are thin and you have to pay extra for padding to attach so the weight is more cushioned. Don't buy the mini, they are teeny tiny.

Pomplemousses · 06/05/2021 20:52

I also have one from Kipling which I love. I use it all the time

Rainallnight · 06/05/2021 20:57

I’m on exactly your position and have this one from New Look. Very reasonable, looks great and holds a perfect amount.

I have a couple of Roka ones (they sometimes sell in TK Maxx, white stuff etc) and a very comfy North Face one.

toucantoucaninatree · 06/05/2021 23:15

Another vote for Roka. I love my Kanken, but my Roka bag is much more comfy to wear. Lovely colour choices too.
