Is this too white for a wedding guest?

After seeing discussion on this on another thread I'm worried this dress I've bought is now too 'white'- I thought the floral pattern made it ok, but maybe not... What do you think?

@FreekStar

I've never seen a bride in anything that resembles this style. Hobbs are promoting for wedding guest wear.
Doesn't matter. White still stands out and you'll notice the whiteness. Itll just be you and her. Don't be that person.

I think it's great and perfect for a wedding guest. Baffled by the number who disagree!

EnglishRain · 04/05/2021 21:20

Gorgeous dress but not for a wedding you are a guest at.

dannydyerismydad · 04/05/2021 21:20

A friend wore similar to my wedding. She looked lovely. She styled it with green accessories.

MirandaMarple · 04/05/2021 21:20

Nothing mainly ivory/white based, ever.

mediciempire · 04/05/2021 21:21

I'd do a slightly brighter pink accessories to make it clear you are not the bride. Really though, it only matters what the bride thinks. Ask her!

TaylorStan · 04/05/2021 21:22

I think it's fine

Crazycrazylady · 04/05/2021 21:22

Beautiful dress but it would be a no for a wedding for me..

Howyoudoingirl · 04/05/2021 21:23

I think its lovely & perfect for a wedding. Mumsnet is funny like that, any hint of white & its immediately written off as bridal. Meanwhile in the real world its not remotely bridal.

Colinthedog · 04/05/2021 21:24

I think this is totally fine for a wedding, and what a beautiful dress! It doesn’t look remotely bridal to me, at all.

MadisonAvenue · 04/05/2021 21:24

I’ve just looked at photos from a wedding we were at a couple of years ago and a number of guests were wearing floral dresses with a white background, including the mother of the bride.

Beetle76 · 04/05/2021 21:25

How well do you know the bride? If well enough, just ask her! Might be the safest option.

It wouldn’t have occurred to me to think its that it’s too bridal, so I’m baffled by some of the responses too.

minipie · 04/05/2021 21:26

I think it’s absolutely fine for a wedding - as long as the bride is likely to be wearing a fairly traditional fully white dress.

If there’s any chance the bride might be going for something more boho and less traditional - eg needle and thread or temperley style - then I’d avoid.

Radial5737 · 04/05/2021 21:26

No way! If you have to ask...

Whatalottachocca · 04/05/2021 21:28

I think it’s perfect. It’s very pretty.

LouNatics · 04/05/2021 21:28

It looks fine to me. Are people worried it might look like a wedding dress? I’ve only been to one wedding where the bride(s) wore white dresses and they wore black suit jackets over the top and bow ties...

sunsetsand · 04/05/2021 21:28

Nope

FreekStar · 04/05/2021 21:29

I don't even know the bride- guest of the groom! The wedding is going to be quite a lavish affair and I am pretty certain her dress will be a much more formal traditional dress and nothing like the Hobbs one- there's no way I'll be able to upstage her as she's going to look stunningly beautiful.

I don’t think it’s bridal at all in style with high neck and long sleeves as well as the all over floral print. I think it’s fine with colourful accessories.

Teeshirt · 04/05/2021 21:31

I think it looks like a bridal outfit.

Isababybel · 04/05/2021 21:31

Im 50/50, it doesnt look too bridal imo.. however you are risking upsetting the bride and also being gossiped about by other guests. Id steer clear and pick another colour.

Graeb · 04/05/2021 21:31

I think it’s perfect for a wedding. I find it hard to believe that someone would mistake you for a bride wearing it or that guests would judge you for wearing that dress.

Fashio · 04/05/2021 21:32

Looks fine

whattocallhim · 04/05/2021 21:33

I think it's perfect

Kokosrieksts · 04/05/2021 21:34

I wouldn’t wear this to a wedding, too white and princess like.
