Tubing Mascaras

I've read that tubing mascaras are pretty much smudge proof but haven't tried them. Can you recommend your favourites please?

Clinique lash power for everyday wear (comes in brown or black) and Hourglass unlocked instant extensions for fancy days.

Kevin Aucoin - the Volume Mascara. Love it. For decades I used YSL faux lash (which isn't tubing), but switched to this and haven't looked back.

SciFiScream · 30/04/2021 16:19

I love tubing mascara because it doesn't irritate my eyes. How can you tell if a mascara is tubing? I looked up the hourglass one (on Amazon) and it doesn't mention that it is tubing?

Frymetothemoon · 30/04/2021 16:21

Clinique lash power here

FizzyApricot · 30/04/2021 16:23

If it says you can remove it with warm water that's a good sign.

janeyfreef · 30/04/2021 16:25

I agree Clinique Lash Power love it

Seaoftroubles · 30/04/2021 16:25

Yes that was what l found confusing.. Its not clear which brands are tubing mascaras!

I like L’Oréal Double Extension Beaty Tubes Technology - and have just converted my 75 year old mum who loves the fact that it doesn’t smudge or irritate

EventuallyDistracted · 30/04/2021 16:39

So smudge proof I can never get them off apart from in the shower.

PinkOrangeRed · 30/04/2021 16:40

I have tried both the Clinique Lash Power & the Boots No 7 Stay Perfect Long Lasting Volume. The No 7 is marginally better, but although neither of them smudge, by the end of the day I do get tiny tubes that have fallen off around my eyes (like tiny spiders' legs!). Maybe that's because I wear glasses.

Following!

I wear glasses and the clinique is fine on me all day until I wash it off in the evening. But I do have ultra dry skin.

Seaoftroubles yes they should all put TUBE in their name somewhere!

Letsgetreadytocrumble · 30/04/2021 16:46

I like the Loreal double ended 'beauty tubes' one. Also, it is super satisfying taking it off!

What do the two ends do?
EventuallyDistracted · 30/04/2021 16:57

I agree they should all put Tubing in the name, I've bought them by mistake twice now.

Letsgetreadytocrumble · 30/04/2021 16:57

One end is like a white 'primer' (tbh I don't always use it though) and the other is the actual black mascara.

SigrunGard · 30/04/2021 16:58

@FizzyApricot- the white end is conditioning and the other is the mascara

I second this! My favourite and you can get it on amazon subscribe and save so a new tube comes through the letterbox every couple of months 😁
FizzyApricot · 30/04/2021 17:01

Thanks! I might try that when the clinique runs out as it's a bit pricey for everyday.

WhereAreWeNow · 30/04/2021 17:47

I've got the No7 one. It's good. Zero smudging or flaking. But it's a bugger to get off!

DeadCertain · 30/04/2021 19:44

Lash Power - it's brilliant.

Sporranrummager · 30/04/2021 19:48

Clinique lash power.
I've just thrown away the Wilco tubing mascara which cost about £2, and smudged!

yesbutnobut · 30/04/2021 19:49

It's odd that these brands don't put 'tubing mascara' in a more prominent place on the item or packaging. I went to SpaceNK to get the Kevin Aucoin one and the shop assistant a) had no idea what tubing mascara was and b) had no idea that KA made one!! Having said that, it's fab - I'd given up wearing mascara due to smudging but now I can wear it again

Sporranrummager · 30/04/2021 19:50

Oh and Estée Lauder double wear.
I alternate between that and Clinique.

nevertrustaherdofcows · 30/04/2021 19:52

Up until about 2018 , I swore by tubing mascara - the Boots one or the Kevin Aucoin one. The latter, I found I couldnt obtain for a while and was told that it was being re-formulated because the EU had insisted on a change in ingredients.

Coincidence, I don't know, but I have been through pretty much all of them since then and find that they all flake. Within a couple of hours my eyes are surrounded by little bits of lash.

Did they add fibre or something? I certainly don't have the same experience of removing little tunes that I did originally.
