Best hair cut for large forehead

I have a substantial forehead and small eyes which makes it worse. I was told I couldn’t have a heavy fringe because my hair is ‘stubborn’ Hmm always had one as a child but hey.

What else can I do?

Add some height to balance the forehead maybe?

Merename · 29/04/2021 20:30

If you think a fringe is fine then why not try it? You could use straighteners or other tricks to tame it if required.

MiniTheMinx · 29/04/2021 20:37

When I first had a fringe cut in my hair was stubborn. It wanted to part or stick out. I preserved and its now fine. Your hair tends to start to grow in the direction its regularly styled in.

There's also a way to tame it. Your angle the hair dryer at the roots and with a brush you dry the fringe by brushing it side to side.

@FindingMeno I’m not sure I understand what you mean?

I should also mention that I work outdoors a lot so if it needs to be managed to look good that might not work? Also due to the big head hair bands aren’t really an option.

@MiniTheMinx this is very interesting. Did you get to a point where it would stay there without styling?

I'm thinking clipping it back allowing a little quiff ( can't think how else to describe it!).

ConnieDobbs · 29/04/2021 20:46

What about a side parting?

I used to do that a lot but feel like I can’t pull it off anymore and it gets stuck in things when im working Grin

@ConnieDobbs that’s deffo an option, just takes a bit more management. Does a longish fringe spilt either side make a forehead look smaller?

What about a side parting which goes across your forehead?

Sorry, just noticed ConnieDobbs put this up while I was looking for images!

Karwomannghia · 29/04/2021 20:53

I have a fringe and just needs a quick blow down, a few seconds to make it behave- I have a calf lick. I’d have a blunt cut quite full. Feathered cuts make bits stick up on mine. If it doesn’t work out you can brush it back or to the side till it grows back.

SameToo · 29/04/2021 20:57

@Karwomannghia can you post an example pic similar to your fringe? Part of why I was told I couldn’t have it was very very slight cows lick.

My hairdresser always does me a fringe cut to sort of part on the side, if you see what I mean.

treehearts · 29/04/2021 21:05

I've got a double cows lick and I've had fringes on and off throughout the years with no issue. I'm not really good with hair and I managed - hair straightener just to even it out!

SameToo · 29/04/2021 21:10

@BalloonSlayer I’m trying to post a pic of what I think you mean but it won’t work! I think that’s the pic I’ll take in though. Thank you.

Oooh it worked! Is that what you meant?

Xztop · 29/04/2021 21:11

I dont have a forehead, I have a ten head, lol!
Anyway I've always had a fringe to cover massive said forehead. I keep it quite long and not too thick. No maintenance apart from a quick blow dry and straighten.

I'd love a different hairstyle but I am out of ideas to cover it and dont want short hair

FindingMeno · 29/04/2021 21:13

I have a cows lick and my teenage daughter does a great job of cutting my fringe, so if the hairdresser can't perhaps it's time for a new hairdressers...

SameToo · 29/04/2021 21:15

Thank you both Smile this is very promising. I’m going to a new hairdresser so will see what they say!

I ever wildly between very short blunt fringe, side swept long fringe, and no fringe. My hair eventually does as it’s told. You just blow dry the fringe each day

Karwomannghia · 29/04/2021 21:31

So the fringe when it’s styled right is the one on the model; after a while it can drift to the other style and go to the sides but if you blow it down after a shower (not necessarily washing) it’s fine and it really doesn’t take long. I do dry and style my hair carefully when I wash it which is once a week. Between those it’s just the 5 sec blow.
