Mid 30s stylish wedding

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 27/04/2021 22:04

Help me! Have family wedding coming up where all cousins are v cool... I like some floaty (cool not too girly) dresses. Size 10 but pasty, no shape. Mid 30s. The dresses online are all pastel floral...

Not sure what I’m looking for other than midi, elegant, good on pasty grey skin, not booby (have no boobs!), could be worn with a little jacket...
there was a dress on sezanne I liked but sold out.
Please help!

Have you looked at Rixo or Ghost?
What sort of budget?

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 27/04/2021 22:18

Budget is 100-250 sort of range... normally would do H&M, Zara but this is special and I want to feel really like I tried. Rixo etc the right sort of area but maybe too out there... any simple, pretty (not too girly), well made dresses... am not helping with a vague description! Basically I want to look rich city woman, cool mid 30s... (am not rich!)

I love those ASOS dresses! Trying to push the budget a bit here though Blush hoping it’ll work and make me feel good!

How about this? I absolutely love everything at comptoir des comtonniers this season.

Reformation more pricey, but excellent cut, very flattering, look expensive IMO

coronafiona · 27/04/2021 22:59

That ted baker is beautiful

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 27/04/2021 23:40

I like the idea of something French... just because I’m worried others will wear ted baker and Reiss... but some do such small sizes, I tried one in selfridges once and it was so tight! Maybe called Maje

Wyse London have lovely stuff

Defiantly41 · 28/04/2021 00:14

Maje have a UKwebsite (uk.maje,com). This is lovely and I think you'd not see anyone else in it uk.maje.com/en/ready-to-wear/collection/dresses/120ruffine/MFPRO01557.html

Brora? www.johnlewis.com/brora-folk-floral-midi-dress-ivory/p5528560
Possibly a bit bridesmaidy

Apparently dress rental is quite a thing now!

Ted Baker and Reiss are not cool.

I'm 34, and have got a Rixo dress for 2 separate weddings this summer (1 friends 1 family).

Other brands you could look at:
Kitri London
Finery London
Omnes
Molby the Label
Sandro
Claudie Pierlot
Baum & Pferdgarten
Ganni
Palones
Needle and Thread
Reformation

Look at the Outnet for designer discounts, and Trouva/Wolf and Badger/Atterley for small brands you may not have heard of.

Yellowhighheels · 28/04/2021 16:39

Reformation have some gorgeous dresses, Wolf and Badger too

This one is Ted Baker www.next.co.uk/style/st716471/487766#487766

BangingOn · 28/04/2021 19:02

What about Nancy Mac? Or Tallulah and Hope?

fizzywaterplease · 28/04/2021 22:57

I love that orange dress @SummaLuvin

BillyAndTheSillies · 28/04/2021 23:05

I'll have to echo @BlairWaldorfLovesShopping in that Ted Baker and Reiss are definitely not cool.

32 and my go to for events are Kitri Studio, Shrimps and Rixo. I get a lot of things from the preloved section from OnLoan or The Outnet preloved.onloan.co/collections/browse-all

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 30/04/2021 01:31

Omg cool people of mumsnet I totally bow down! So I do like reiss and ted baker but a bit too slick for me (can’t pull of that polish), love the chic dresses all round though!! I also wish they’d use vaguely normal models because I think “I could wear that” and then look like a twat. Going to try the frenchie/ London labels and see what comes up

THANK YOU! Any other suggestions very welcome!
