A teeny bit tight, or a bit too big?!

I know there are a lot of jeans posts at the moment, so, sorry!

Ordered some ASOS Farleigh jeans, the same size in 'regular' and 'hourglass'. They're not stretchy, they have 1% elastane.

The regular ones are just a teeny bit tight. The hourglass ones are a bit big, they have the waist gap at the back and are a little big in the front where the legs meet the body, if that makes sense.

I was hoping the hourglass ones were going to be perfect, as I usually have the problem of too big on the waist and tight on the hips.

I don't know which ones to keep. I think the regular ones in the next size up would be too big. Maybe the smaller ones will give a bit with wear.

They're the perfect leg shape and length!

We need a pic

Uhtredswoman · 27/04/2021 20:54

Jeans always give on the first wear - I'd go teeny bit tight!

Itsallhere · 27/04/2021 20:56

Keep the tight ones, they will give a big as you wear them

Itsallhere · 27/04/2021 20:56

A bit, not a big

midnightstar66 · 27/04/2021 21:13

Would the hourglass in a size down not work?

Blondiney · 27/04/2021 21:29

Tighter is usually better with jeans as they all 'give' to some degree, even the non-stretchy ones.

imnottoofussed · 27/04/2021 21:30

Ooh I was looking at these the other day. Are they high waisted or mid? And what is the leg length like? I really need to order some

waitingforsun · 27/04/2021 21:32

@OddsNSodsBitsNBobs I didn't take any pics trying on, I'm going to try them all tomorrow so might come back with pics. I've screenshotted from ASOS to show the style.

@midnightstar66 maybe, they didn't have all that much space. Might be worth another order though. Will see how I feel after trying them on again tomorrow I think. Trying on at the end of the day maybe wasn't my best idea!

@Blondiney @Itsallhere @Uhtredswoman

I'm hoping they will give a bit. Maybe I'll wear them for a couple of hours tomorrow and see what I think.

@imnottoofussed I love the style of them. Fitted but not skinny, mom jean but not baggy!

They are a true high waist. I'm 5'9" and high waist isn't usually that high on me but these just hide my belly button.

I ordered the 34 leg and 32 leg. I could get away with either but I think I'll go with the 34 to give the option to turn up or not. They hit on/just below ankle, just how it shows in the screenshot. The 32" are ankle grazers and look a bit too short turned up on me.

Nice quality denim. Out of the authentic mid wash and stone wash I prefer the stone wash. :)

Hope that's helpful!

If you use a clothes dryer don't get the tight ones in case they shrink a little.

Minezatea · 27/04/2021 23:08

I'd go too tight as they will give. Also, I am envious of your long legs!

imnottoofussed · 27/04/2021 23:12

@waitingforsun excellent I'm 5'9" too so think I'll order the 34 leg

SeaTurtles92 · 27/04/2021 23:25

I'd love to be able to pull some nice jeans off!
I have to go for petite range in short leg and I can never find ones I really like. Even then the 25 - 27 inch is too long!

waitingforsun · 28/04/2021 06:43

@imnottoofussed I'd order a couple of sizes to try! Haha.

I usually get Topshop jeans and the ASOS ones are a size smaller than I usually get from Topshop. I used the size recommendation tool on ASOS.

Hope you like them!

@SeaTurtles92 When I was browsing I was quite impressed at ASOS ranges, they had a good selection of petite/curve/hourglass/tall!

I find jeans buying a pain to be able find ones that fit well, especially online!

waitingforsun · 28/04/2021 06:53

@MoltonSilver good point, I don't put jeans in there but will have to make sure they don't accidentally end up in the dryer!

OP posts:
waitingforsun · 28/04/2021 06:56

@Minezatea For jeans, longer legs are okay, but my height is a pain for most other clothes! No dresses with fitted waists work cause the waist sits in the wrong place, sleeves are always too short, and jumpsuits are rather uncomfortable! 🤣😬

Okay photos 😬 does anyone actually want to see any before I put them on the internet 🥴

OP posts:
imnottoofussed · 28/04/2021 11:48

Yes me definitely

waitingforsun · 28/04/2021 12:04

@imnottoofussed okay, here goes...

I am trying not to breathe in 🤣

Going to keep them on for a bit and see how they feel

Also, I don't ever usually have my midriff showing!! 🙈

Are they uncomfortable when you sit down? They don’t look too small, it’s just your comfort I’d wonder about.
