I really fancy the Birkenstock Arizona, never had Birkenstock before, are they worth it? True to size? Or any other recommendations? Thanks

Following as I am wanting to buy some too. I've seen they run large when watching review videos on YouTube.

Branleuse · 25/04/2021 08:52

I love birkenstocks and usually get a new pair of Mayaris every couple of years

Glenthebattleostrich · 25/04/2021 08:52

they run a bit large but they are the most comfortable shoes i own. I did 2 weeks in disney (20k steps per day) in my Arizona's.

Branleuse · 25/04/2021 08:53

Mayaris are true to size. I need toe post of some sort for grip with backless sandals, so dont know about arizonas

The4teddybears · 25/04/2021 09:00

I absolutely love my mayari, they were my first pair 8 years ago. The most comfortable sandal I’ve ever had. I always had some sort of pain, ache, blister etc when walking on holidays abroad before due to my wide (fat!) feet. There were a game changer . If they ever wear out I will replace them whatever the cost. I also got given some of their 2 strap ones (can’t recall name ) not as comfy on me as the mayari but still good .

MaryMow22 · 25/04/2021 09:02

I love my Birks! So comfy!

dudsville · 25/04/2021 09:06

They are fabulous.

Look on their website for how to measure your feet. For me I buy narrow and a size larger and they fit like a glove.

You can find ones for sale on line one you know your size.

redcandlelight · 25/04/2021 09:07

ugly but incredibly comfortable.

I wear the arizona as slippers.
size - they come up relatively big, but most important are your toes.
in normal shoes I'm a 40 or 41, but 39 in birkenstock as I have short toes. with a size 40 the toe support would be really uncomfortable.

Bagelsandbrie · 25/04/2021 09:08

They are so comfortable once you’ve worn them in. I usually take a 6.5/7 in most shoes and a 6 in them.

MilkWasABadChoice · 25/04/2021 09:09

Did you know the Birkenstock business is worth $4.8 Billion?! That’s a whole lotta shoes!

I am considering my first pair so am following. I like the Mayaris.

ElspethFlashman · 25/04/2021 09:10

There are different widths and different footbeds.

They are popular for a reason, they're supportive. However I know people with long toes have to actually try them on as they have lips all around.

The4teddybears · 25/04/2021 09:10

I have wide feet and have the normal width, the straps are adjustable so that’s probably why I can get away with normal when i can’t usually . Here is how to read the width indicator .

Any thoughts on Birkenstocks?

I love mine.

Although I bought one pair of Arizona that are gorgeous but the suede is very soft so I cannot just slip my feet into them. I have various physical complaints which then make them hard to put on. My ‘hard’ leather ones are my go to footwear and live by the back door, except when my Spaniel has stolen them.

FunnyWonder · 25/04/2021 09:14

I recently bought the Arizona's in a size 7/40, which is my usual size, and they fit perfectly. I've been wearing them around the house mostly so far, but they felt very comfortable after a couple of weeks of clacking around.

Straussful · 25/04/2021 09:21

I adore Mayari's. So comfortable. As pp's have said: you can walk all day in them.

My 18 year old wears Arizona's. Sometimes with socks Shock. They look great (on her).

SaturdayRocks · 25/04/2021 09:23

They are fugly and make your feet look ginormous. But I am in NZ and literally everyone wears them through summer - men and women, young and old, so...

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 25/04/2021 09:23

Love love love.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 25/04/2021 09:24

I bought the boots too this winter. Sooooo comfy.

rainbowthoughts · 25/04/2021 09:29

I wear Arizona in a size smaller than my usual size, I have quite fat feet as well!

Mellonsprite · 25/04/2021 10:10

I’ve been wearing them for years and even though I know they are fugly, I would never not buy them. I have high arches and they are very supportive.

LockdownCheeseToastie · 25/04/2021 10:15

Love them. I have two pairs of gizeh and one mayari in my usual size. Agree that if you have long toes try them on before you buy. I have wide feet so wear the normal width ones. They take a bit of breaking in (wear around the house) then incredibly comfortable.

IWouldLikeToKnow · 25/04/2021 10:19

I wore Madrids all last summer. And planning on them a lot this year too. Started this weekend. Contemplated Arizonas but thought they might be a little ugly. Really like the ones I have. I have a narrow 39 which is pretty much my size.

Mizydoscape · 25/04/2021 10:22

Recently bought my first pair of Mayari. Got them in Schuh so I could try them on and glad I did as I'm usually a 6 and a 5 fitted perfectly. They are super comfortable and I personally don't think they're fugly at all :)

Jackiejoo · 25/04/2021 10:39

I absolutely love mine I have this pair they look great I would certainly recommend😍

Whatisthisfuckery · 25/04/2021 10:42

I’ve had a pair for years and they’re really comfy. They’ve worn really well considering I’ve walked miles in them, and sandals you can walk miles in are a rarity indeed. Size wise the ones I have came up stupidly large, I think I had to buy 1.5 sizes smaller than I’d usually, but I have no idea if that runs true for any other style, or if the sizing has changed in the god knows how many years since I bought them.
