Been googling long jumpers and I love this, but never heard of this brand before - is is genuine or a scammy site? Shein Colour block Jumper

@doubleshotespresso

Those who have ordered would you please share how long deliveries took to arrive please?
This is the kind of thing that shocks me. I've bought from some of these sites before realising the implications so have no judgement for others who've done the same.

However, that's different from reading through load of posts pointing out use of slave labour.... Then posting yourself to ask how long for delivery. Hmm

SOLINVICTUS · 24/04/2021 13:33

It's genuine, but it's all total shit.
The photos are nothing like the items when they come and the quality is what you'd expect for £3 from China.
I "won" some items for doing a survey thing. A top which DD (teenager) says is OK and some boots which went straight in the parish bag.
@doubleshotespresso mine have averaged about 8-10 days :)
Helpful to know! Thank-you

@OverTheRubicon thanks for your kind, unhelpful and uncalled for comment.
FYI Not all of us are afforded the same choices as you.
You state you "have no judgement" of those who do purchase and then proceed to judge me.
Have a day off ffs

Yes, not all of us are afforded the same choices, some have to work in slave labour conditions so someone in a richer country can spend £3 on a crap quality shirt that will last 3 washes.

You so have choices, I've spent years at a time dressed in charity shop clothes that were decent quality and lasted. Or there are other brands like H&M that are slightly more expensive but not much and are more ethical and will last better.

Of course I judge people for knowingly buying something that's made by slave labour, I think most would. I'm not a particularly virtuous person, but not liking slavery is a pretty low bar, and not something to 'take a day off' from.

Mankyfruitbowl · 24/04/2021 19:26

Sorry, I'm with @overtherubicon on this, and I speak as someone who doesn't have a large clothes budget. I can't stomach these kinds of working conditions, not to mention environmental cost, so for me it's all charity shops, ebay and "shopping my wardrobe" (sorry for annoying phrase).

OneCalamerra · 24/04/2021 19:27

Ok they are literally being produced by slaves. When you buy from them, you are supporting slavery. Is it ok because it’s far away?

853ax · 24/04/2021 19:41

Yes, few dresses for my daughter. Fabric bit plastic however it has lots selection age 11,12 which she is. It is very difficult to get girly dresses in that size so I was glad low price.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 24/04/2021 19:46

@OverTheRubicon 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I judge people who buy clothes from Shein (and Chicwish, Romwe and the myriad of other Chinese tat clothes sites that have sprung up over the last few years - I remember when it first launched, it was called She Inside and it was even more crap than it is now).

OneCalamerra · 24/04/2021 19:50

@doubleshotespresso - I spent years dressed entirely from charity shops and jumble sales. In fact I didn’t have a single new item of clothing until I was 14. I still prefer to buy second hand for environmental reasons. We all have choices. You’re choosing to support slavery.

mynameiscalypso · 24/04/2021 19:51

Everything that @OverTheRubicon says with bells on. It's not just slavery that you're supporting but the criminal gangs who are run the factories and all the other criminal activities that they're engaged in.

I haven't placed any orders. I merely asked a question regarding delivery. Jeez there are some entitled folks here - I've not once stated I support slavery or even intended to order.
FYI I do use charity shop clothing for myself (I have to) pre-Covid. I was wondering re SHEIN Childrens wear as I need to get them some summerstuff and heard they had some fun stuff online. I've never actually went on the website ...

BlueDahlia69 · 24/04/2021 21:25

OverTheRubicon · 24/04/2021 21:37

@doubleshotespresso it was an easy mistake to make, as I'd assumed that someone asking about delivery was intending to order - if not, why?

Another confusing point is why you'd label people who think it's not ok to buy clothes funded by slave labour and criminal gangs as the entitled ones. After all, what could be more entitled than people who want summer kids clothes for £2 regardless of human and environmental cost and despite local sustainable alternatives, or who come on straight after all the many prior posts on slave labour and criminal links to ask what size to order?

Nat6999 · 24/04/2021 21:52

I bought loads last summer, the T shirts weren't bad quality. I'm going to buy some dresses short enough to wear will leggings for this summer. It's cheap & cheerful but good enough for summer when you can't guarantee the weather will be good enough to get your full wear out of things.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/04/2021 21:54

Definitely not a scam you usually need to order a size up though. Its all very legit. The app is good, I've had loads.

Nat6999 · 24/04/2021 21:55

The plus size stuff is OK, I'm a 22 & bought 4XL.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/04/2021 21:57

Oh Blush about the slavery

But most UK high street pay 3rd World Workers shit wages.

It's increasingly become a case of who CAN you buy ethically from? Who DOES sell British made

Would be very happy to be told by those in the know.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 24/04/2021 22:00

@Nat6999 Have you read the thread re slaves?

LoveBeingAMum555 · 24/04/2021 22:09

Havent read the whole thread, but just wanted to chip in and say that I bought a top from them, it literally fell apart the first time I wore it. I was at work, luckily I had a cardigan with me.

This is true and there is no easy answer, but I think people should at least avoid retailers where there is actual evidence of them using slave labour and other unethical practices, such as using photos from other websites to sell knock off versions of clothes. Most other cheap U.K. based retailers (H&M, new look, etc) at least say they’re aiming towards factory audits and sustainability etc. Shein clearly don’t give a shit.

There have been recent threads on here about ethical clothing, including some made in the U.K.

Check your supply chains before you buy - it is not a difficult Google. Shein is known to use slave labour. If you think slavery is a bad thing, don't buy from companies that use slaves.
BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 24/04/2021 22:18

Maybe some posters think “slavery” is just hyperbole for “working conditions and pay that would be unacceptable in the West”? I don’t know, but please read this when you get a moment

Tanfastic · 24/04/2021 22:23

I've ordered a few times and been pleasantly surprised by the quality and sizing, everything fits fab on me which I hardly ever get from other online retailers. I've had some great shoes as well.
