I’ve used Biore watery essence for the last few years, love it, but blimey the price has shot up. I liked it because it felt slightly powdery, no cast and non greasy or smelly. What should I get to replace it? Not too expensive, something I can wear as a primer.

I've got the Paula's choice one but I seem to be doing something wrong. I find that when I apply liquid foundation over the top it sort of sheds off . I cant get a good finish with my make up.

I like Ultrasun too. Also still love Clinique City Block, but I think that's SPF 40?

Llamallamadingdong · 18/04/2021 21:05

La Roche Posay Anthelios is my go-to (and I’ve tried several over the years but keep coming back to it)

@QueenPaw

Used the above sun cream and no stinging eyes! Felt really nice too. Possibly not great for oily skin but for normal / dry would be fab
Queenpaw any white residue?

Eucerin pigment control sun fluid factor 50 works well for me.

I am early forties, greasy to combination/dehydrated fair to medium skin and live in a hot country. I have tried so many including the Biore, Thank you Farmer (both types) Heliocare, Chanel, shisiedo etc- you get my point Blush and think that the Garnier sensitive advanced facial super UV fluid spf 50 for about 12 euros is amazing value and does a great job. No stinging, no white cast, not greasy or drying, doesn’t break me out and cheap enough to apply liberally and often. Highly highly recommend

I have been using this for over a year, it’s fantastic as I can wear it easily under my make up and use it around my eyes with no stinginess like some I have used.

Thank you Farmer - amazing

JeanneFrench · 23/04/2021 20:58

La Roche-Posay, the stick. Just keep one in my handbag and can reapply regularly.

Another Biore user here but I'm not happy having to order it from the Far East and then worrying about fakes.

Sali Hughes had a good piece on new formulations last week - they are pricey but I've just ordered the two La Roche P options mentioned here. Will report back .. https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2021/apr/17/the-best-uv-protection-on-the-high-street?CMP=ShareiOSAppp_Other

PS @BatshitCrazyWoman The problem with City Block is that their UVA protection is very poor, unless they've changed it in the last few years - see: https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/styleandd_beauty/3268732-facial-sunscreen
