Chunky black sandals

Only to be worn if you are over 5ft 10 ins and very skinny though. Otherwise - no.

ParvaAvis · 11/04/2021 20:18

My great Aunt, a lifelong Catholic nun, sprung to mind when I saw those sandals...sorry, they’re totally grim!

Stumpedasatree · 11/04/2021 20:31

It's just they really remind me of a pair I had at secondary school, which were much less chunky, and I've come over all nostalgic and longing!

I'm mid 40s slim and petite, more like 5ft 2 than 5ft 10!

Oh dear, I’ve just bought these... 2 days ago online! They haven’t arrived yet but now im having doubts due to these comments. Ah well I can always return them if they are awful :-/

OverByYer · 11/04/2021 20:51

Oooh naff version of the DM sandal

Buggerthebotox · 11/04/2021 20:53

I love them. I bought a pair last year which were very similar but I found them too heavy for me. Sadly.

heyyellowyellow · 11/04/2021 21:20

I think if you’re drawn to this style, you have to go for DMs.

Cipot · 11/04/2021 21:29

Why did I look! Fugly shoes will be popping up on anything I look at for months now. I'm not keen but I know people who would go for these. It would suit their style.

springiscoming12 · 11/04/2021 21:35

Wow no. Just no

CrazyHorse · 11/04/2021 22:15

If you're a tall, slim Japanese student studying architecture in Denmark they are perfect.

If you're an average sized British woman going to Tesco in your Ford focus they are hideous.

WinstonsWeirdVole · 11/04/2021 22:15

Those ones are naff IMO and look really cheap, but the DM ones they're trying to copy are actually OK. I'd go for the latter if you like that style!

SwimBaby · 11/04/2021 22:15

Awfs

RacheyCat · 11/04/2021 23:41

Unless you were scrutinizing them up close, you'd think they were the more expensive DM sandal. Chunky sandals are cool right now. I wear a pair with a similar sole to work. Very comfy.

PresentingPercy · 11/04/2021 23:47

I’d go for the Prada ones.

RacheyCat · 12/04/2021 00:16

@PresentingPercy

I’d go for the Prada ones.
I'm not sure we're discounting the Prada ones due to not liking them. Grin They do come in at a slightly higher price point though.
Itsokthanks · 12/04/2021 00:24

I love the original DM version but they are a very poor attempt at copying.

Lovemusic33 · 12/04/2021 08:39

I bought the DM sandals and they were awful, made my feet hurt so I chucked them on eBay, sketchers are more comfortable. I used to love DM’s but the quality isn’t there anymore and the price is much higher.

lovevlyt · 12/04/2021 08:43

The link doesn't work for me for some reason but I LOVE the new chunky sandal trend and have recently bought three pairs.

My husband detests them lol and I think they are a love or hate item.

I bought a pair from Vagabond, Ego and some Teva ones.

The teva ones are really for walking/hiking

I'm 34 so over 30 but don't really care think it's about how it looks on you as an individual and if you can pull it off then who cares!

lovevlyt · 12/04/2021 08:44

I bought a pair of DM Viss sandals but they were far too fugly for me

Lovemusic33 · 12/04/2021 08:46

I have just bought teva sandals, now I want to buy these 🤣, I like chunky, I don’t like most of the petite girly and also Orr the mummsy sandals people wear so I find it hard to find summer footwear. I walk a lot so chunky and flat is good. I’m 39. I have nice feet and legs so I think I can carry it off.

lovevlyt · 12/04/2021 08:46

These are the Teva ones I just got very similar to leads but without the huge price tag and these are actually the original of this kind been around since the 80s so you could say Prada copied TEVA!!!

Bought them because I love hikes and don't want to wear boots in summer but would also wear them for normal outings

Help! I can't work out if these are fugly in a good way?
lovevlyt · 12/04/2021 08:48

@Lovemusic33 did you find the Teva ones sizing frustrating? I'm usually a 6 and my toes but just on the border but when I sized up they felt loose. Felt like they should have made a 6.5

lovevlyt · 12/04/2021 08:48

Also OP do you mind sharing the link again as when I click on it for some reason it's not working!

GarnOut · 12/04/2021 10:07

I like them but agree the DM and Prada they are trying to look like are cooler. Maybe take a look at Prada for inspiration if you haven’t already and see if you can find something similar. I like the soles of those sketchers but the uppers not as much. Think that style though is great with jeans and pretty dresses. Definitely call for nice feet though.

LolaNova · 12/04/2021 10:26

I’m not sure I’m stylish or edgy enough to pull them off but I quite like them.
