Please recommend a facial SPF

I have just started to use Paula's choice Exfoliating liquid, I think I need to use facial SPF.
But where do I start? All the ones I use on holiday all feel very gloopy.
Do you wise ladies know of a less gloopy one?

La Roche Posay Anthelios - I use the untinted one every day under makeup. I have oily skin and this works fine for me. No whiteness, no gloopiness and it’s an SPF of 50.

I've recently started using one by Thank You Farmer which I really like - goes on easily and no stickiness/ greasiness/ whiteness.

XingMing · 10/04/2021 12:44

Nadine Baggott in today's Times recommends Garnier Ambre Solaire over makeup spray on SPF50. It can obviously be sprayed on under makeup too.

I love Clinique super city block. It's tinted so some days I just wear that without makeup if I'm not going to work.

megafish · 10/04/2021 12:55

I'm a massive fan of Nivea facial SPF 50. It's super light and I can't feel it on. I used to use la Roche posay, but I prefer this and it's cheaper.

Heliocare gel is the only one I've found that doesn't make my eyes sting. Smells lovely too

Doughnut100 · 10/04/2021 13:27

Cerave have a nice one which has niacinimide and hyaluronic acid in it so it's great for skin. Downsides are that it's only spf25 and also it stings my eyes. I've been using it on its own when the weather is bad, but I also put on la Roche posay anthelios spf50 when it's sunny.

Seconded.

I use a This Works moisturiser with SPF30 daily (ish - I’m forgetful). Goes a long way and is not gloopy.

Neilsfavouritechilli · 10/04/2021 14:37

I use, Bioderma Photoderm Max Aquafluid. It absorbs quickly and doesn't feel greasy (it does sting if it gets in your eye though)

StillRunningUpThatHill · 10/04/2021 14:41

Heliocare gel. I have oily skin and it’s not greasy at all. If anything it dries my skin a bit, like a primer!

tuliplily · 10/04/2021 14:47

I like the Clinique city block too. Only had it a few weeks but really like it so far.

MakeMineALarge1 · 10/04/2021 18:04

Before or after moisturiser
Before of after primer

Thank you for the recommendations ladies, knew I could rely on you

I use Estée Lauder Perfectionist Gel SPF 50 with anti oxidants. Sun screen should be applied after moisturiser.

Cluckycluck · 10/04/2021 19:26

I find La Roche Posay Anthelios pills up and doesn't sit well under make up. The spray version is fantastic though and I would never be without it.

I also love the Nivea mattifying one, cheaper and sits better under makeup. Hawaiian Tropic facial one is also fantastic but doesn't come in factor 50 so I can only use it in winter.

Icenii · 10/04/2021 19:29

I'm finding LRPA also pills too and looking to switch as I use Tretinoin.

SeeSawSeen · 10/04/2021 21:33

Another vote for LRP Anthelios - never had any problem with pilling, and find it soothes my skin, too.

I find this pills really badly. Under make up is a nightmare. I had to take it all off and start again. On it's own it is a bit better, but can randomly start to pill at any point during the day. I prefer LRP Anthelios or Biore watery essence.
MayflowerMaisie · 10/04/2021 22:12

I use the LRP Shaka fluid - the one in the thin rectangular bottle. I find the anti-shine one pills terribly.
I think I might get some of the garnier over make up spray mentioned above, to top up with through the day.
My one big skin regret is that I didn’t wear a sunscreen daily until I hit 40.

MayflowerMaisie · 10/04/2021 22:13

I do serum - moisturiser - sunscreen - then primer if using.

ballsdeep · 10/04/2021 22:20

Is a moisturiser with SPF in enough? I use elemis pro collagen

PollyThePony · 10/04/2021 22:31

I use one by Cerave. I think it is a moisturiser and also SPF25.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 10/04/2021 22:36

Biore watery essence is my go to. If I can't get I use Hello Farmer. I'm to have a look for the over make up spray though.

EdinaMonsoon · 11/04/2021 01:11

Glossier have a fantastic facial SPF. It's a clear gel and doesn't leave any weird white/grey cast on the skin. Strong enough to wear on holiday too as well as sitting perfectly under make up.

Alternatively, I love Coola. All natural, doesn't clog pores or pill.
